Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Is it possible to half the pen? Is it also possible to get an extra dose out of them if you have spare needles?

I have (in an ideal world) 49lb to lose to get to 10st 7. Probably very unrealistic in 4 months but I would love to get close to 11stone which would be 42lb so aiming for that. I've also lost 10.5lb so far so only 31.5lb in 14 weeks. If I can manage 2lb a week on average I will be within spitting distance.

Thank you, @VelociraptorsVelociRapping . That's really helpful.

ThirdStorm · 06/05/2024 12:49

@Cerialkiller i know we’re “start buddies” and I’ve lost the same!, MJ is definitely giving Keto a boost as whilst I’ve previously seen large initial losses this is the most I’ve lost in the timeframe. I think I’m going to try the extra dose (just need to get some pen needles as MedExpress only supply 4) and I think I’m going to stay on 2.5mg as it seems to be working.

Yes if you look on the other thread there is a table of how many clicks on the 5mg = the dose. I think if you count to 30 clicks it’s about 2.5mg. But yes you’d need to buy needles and swabs.

Cerialkiller · 06/05/2024 13:44

Oh great. I have spare needles as I had a faulty one in my first box and so they sent more. They are the official one though and I saw that some people has used insulin needles to get the last bit so assumed the mechanism wouldn't let you click more after the four doses.

I think some people are getting the 5th dose by using some brute force in turning the pen with pliers if needed.

Cerialkiller · 06/05/2024 14:39

OK good to know, will investigate.

Humptydumpty85 · 06/05/2024 15:18

Are people generally going upto 5mg for the second month? That's what medexpress have recommended for me, but I'm wondering if it's necessary if 2.5 is working? Any pros or cons to not moving up that you're aware of? Thanks!

ThirdStorm · 06/05/2024 15:32

@Humptydumpty85 i was going to stay on 2.5. It’s been working.

Pops1985 · 06/05/2024 07:31

Good luck! I started at quite a high weight (288lb) but it’s been so refreshing to get rid of the food noise and for the first time feel like I’m not dieting. 2.5mg has been really effective for me so think I’m going to halve my 5mg pen to try and make it last longer (and save some money).

Obviously it’s up to you what you do. But the pen expires 30 days from when you first use it. That allows for the bonus dose but you could get 10 2.5 doses from a 5ml which would take you well over the 30 days
I did think of doing this myself but decided not to

Nomdejeur · 06/05/2024 16:03

I found I noticed a change in my appetite the first day. I made myself lunch and was full after one half of a sandwich. There hasn’t been a day where I questioned if it was worth it, I’m 6 weeks in and over a stone down (I was 14st6). My cravings are zero and I eat less than half what I did before.

SpecialToMe · 06/05/2024 19:09

Had my 3rd jab of 2.5mg of MJ on Friday night. So far 10.5 lbs loss in 2.5 weeks! Felt a bit more nauseous this week but nothing too bad. Had to make a decision on what to get next and decided to get another 2.5mg instead of moving up to 5. I hope that’s the right decision and I’m not feeling really hungry by the end of month 2.

GreyFinch · 06/05/2024 19:18

Thats amazing @SpecialToMe ! Does anyone know whether there will be more weight loss with the increased 5mg dose? I’m 9lb down and due my 3rd jab on Wednesday but quite keen to move up (although maybe incorrectly thinking this would mean more weight loss?)

SpecialToMe · 06/05/2024 19:23

I don’t think it means more loss , it depends on how much food noise and how hungry you feel on the 2.5mg. If you’re not feeling hungry all week on the 2.5mg at the moment then I think the 5mg won’t be different. But if you’re getting hungry before the end of the week then moving to 5mg Will help

Ghilliedu · 06/05/2024 19:33

I felt like this after my second 2.5 jab but by the third I was starting to take it early because I found the effects wearing off after 4 days so I went for the 5mg next. I haven’t started it yet but I don’t think it means more weight loss, I think it just means that you might feel the effects more as there’s more in your system, so more appetite suppression, less food noise etc. That’s what I’m hoping anyway. I’ve had good losses on the 2.5 but I definitely feel ready to move up a dose

GreyFinch · 06/05/2024 20:02

Thank you! Yes from day dot I’ve felt some suppression etc only on day 2-5 after taking the dose, for example today my hunger etc started to come back and not due my next one till Wednesday, so that does make a lot more sense thank you all

Upinthenightagain · 06/05/2024 21:21

Well med express have just refunded me. Feel like crying now.

Ghilliedu · 06/05/2024 21:33

@Upinthenightagain sorry to hear that, I was the same when they rejected me. Try The Family Chemist, they are the same price. Maybe take a new pic and make it as unflattering as possible!

Why did they refund you ?

i was about to order from them 5mg

I should have taken my 4th jab on Saturday but have had food poisoning so thought best to get over this first

Failed the weight verification. I’m very tall, carry it well I guess. Feel like the jolly green giant though and I’m 40 this year with a massive binge eating issue.
@Ghilliedu thanks I’ll look at them

NoImNotCurvyImFat · 06/05/2024 21:51

I’m sorry about that Upinthenightagain

what looks like no extra weight is being carried on one person the same hight and often build isn’t the same for another and charts don’t take that into consideration also it’s how you feel and the binge eating

I ordered my first dose from Simple Online Pharmacy I was only going to change to Med Express as I thought quite a bit cheaper but it isn’t I think I shall stick with the same company

I hope you you are able to get your order

Ghilliedu · 06/05/2024 21:56

When medexpress rejected my photo my husband didn’t understand why I was so upset. He thought I should take it as a compliment! Thing is, it had taken a lot for me to take the photos and place the order and then to just be rejected without any way for me to explain that I carry my weight in such a way that I look ok from the front!

I went to Asda after that because they asked for a photo of the scales as well so they couldn’t really deny my weight. I’ve since changed as they were much more expensive but it got me started

Upinthenightagain · 06/05/2024 22:00

@Ghilliedu that’s it isn’t it? It’s really embarrassing taking the photos. My dd was asking me what I was doing and then you feel like someone behind the screen will be laughing at them. Ugh!

NoImNotCurvyImFat · 06/05/2024 22:07

Simple Online Pharmacy didn’t ask for any photos that I can remember

trying to think maybe of the scales, sorry can’t remember I don’t think they did

They are a little more expensive

NoImNotCurvyImFat · 06/05/2024 22:07

I wouldn’t want to send photos of myself ☹️
