Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

We are so similar with our weight history that I could’ve written this! To get back in the 13s would make me feel like I was heading in the right direction, y’know? I know I’ll never look like I did in my 20s - two kids and a totally different lifestyle now - but I’d just like to be a bit closer to it. Like you, 13st is a comfortable size 16 for me so would make the world of difference to my self-esteem. I’m shooting for a comfortable size 14 long term but that feels like a hell of a way away right now.

Thanks so much for replying - feels reassuring to know someone else gets it.

There's something fascinating about a shared weight history isn't there!!!?!! I love it when someone has the same start weight and height as me, bonus points on body shape too 😆Hopefully if my journey goes as a typical month as others have on MJ, I will be looking at the 13s by the end of May. I dont usually exercise much as its calorie restriction that has the most effect for me (which has in the past reduced my energy for exercise) but this time around I have rediscovered my live for swimming and generally more active so will be interested to see what effect that has.

I was trying to take a 'belly overhang' today and couldn't actually get a good shot, I swear it's not actually as noticeable as when I have previously been this weight so maybe the apron is shrinking on MJ which is the bit I hate most after my arms. I've actually worn my Mom jeans today without spanx and feel it looked normal and eye wasn't immediately drawn to lower belly!

I'm also sure when I put my moisturiser on and rub to my neck that there's is less second chin under my jawline which seemed backed up by a zoom meeting today where the laptop was not propped up and usually an angle I avoid! I'm usually highly critical of myself so I don't think it's an over confidence but it could be a positivity coming from the buzz I still have about how different this time feels.

I'm hoping to get to Aldi over the weekend and grab some, lemon mousse is one of those foods I wouldn't buy now if I was trying to be 'good' so great to have something else that is a better version of a naughty food. I miss Protein Cadbury 'Boosts', from the times I was in the cult following the Team RH plan.

@MeAndMounjaro I am also an escapee from Team RH. What a toxic man he is!

So, I haven't seen much weight loss in 2 weeks (2lbs) on 0.25mg Wegovy, nor really any effects at all. Except! I definitely have less food noise - I'm not seeing every trip out on my own as an excuse for a coffee and I'm snacking far less in the evenings, being more satisfied by a couple of ginger biscuits rather than the crisps, cheese and chocolate I would previously have eaten. I am also finding my desire for fattening things is much reduced and I feel I'm making better choices. So I am taking all that as a win, even if it's not a scales win!

Just trying to order my 0.5mg Wegovy from Asda (thanks, pp, for the heads up!) but I can't see how to do it. It wants to send me 0.25mg!

Upinthenightagain · 04/05/2024 07:55

Gah I’ve just had an email from med express saying my photo didn’t meet the requirements. I’ve followed the guidelines. Anyone else had this?

imnottoofussed · 04/05/2024 09:19

They need a full length so have to see your head and feet. If it's the Id photo they must see all corners of the id and it must be in date (from my experience of photos being rejected)

It’s the full length photo and definitely shows head and feet. Do they refund you if they won’t prescribe? They’ve taken the money

Ghilliedu · 04/05/2024 11:06

@Upinthenightagain Medexpress declined me too based on my photo. The feedback was I didn’t appear to have a BMI over 30 which I absolutely did! I ended up ordering from Asda for my first one and then went back to medex for my next pen when I could send them photos of my previous prescription.

have they given you a reason for rejecting the photo?

ShrinkingDaffodil · 04/05/2024 13:09

Took my first dose of MJ last night and it may be a placebo effect or the wine I drank last night but I feel fairly sick today so not yet been able to face anything solid!

I took my second shot of mj yesterday morning and then went on holiday… first night I had tapas, woke up this morning and threw up for an hour. Today I’m feeling so full and haven’t been able to eat yet. I know I need to eat but I just am afraid I’ll end up being sick again

Nightscroller1 · 04/05/2024 15:27

Did my first jab Monday evening, wasnt hungry until yesterday. Just feel like normal today! Grr was hoping for better. Don't feel like eating rubbish tho and snacking. More so proper food but then not knowing what I want!!

No. They don’t say why. I have a feeling it might be that I don’t look big enough. I had a tummy tuck years ago and it gives the illusion of me being slimmer than I am from the front. Maybe I should send them a backside view 🤣 did they refund you? Do Asda ask for photos?

Cerialkiller · 04/05/2024 17:08

Jab 2, day two for me. It hasn't really kicking much this week after really feeling it the first week. I'm getting lots of hunger pangs but I think still getting the reduction in food noise but I'm in ketosis so that might be helping. I also had an abrupt 2lb weight drop over night which I'm sceptical about but we will see.

I'm hoping to change from juniper to bolt pharmacy to save myself some money to afford a 4th month on mounjaro. Does anyone have advice about how easy they are to change to or any of the other cheaper providers? Will they take a photo of my current box as proof? I don't want to have to go through the photo process again. I suspect I look slimmer after losing 9lb and they kept asking for more last time as my fats very well distributed so not obviously obese especially as I'm tall.

Asda do ask for photos too but they ask for a full length and also a photo of your weight while standing on scales so I guess they take both photos into account. I’m the same and look slimmer from the front but side/back view not so good! They did refund me straight away.

@Cerialkiller I changed to medexpress from Asda and it was a simple process. I did have to send my photos again including one of my 2.5mg box showing my name

schoolie258 · 05/05/2024 09:58

Still no period for me. Anyone else missed a period or had any changes in their cycle?

I did a cheeky weigh in this morning expecting to have put on weight since no period and still feeling bloated etc but Ive lost another 2lbs! Thats a total of 7.4lbs since 19th April. (2 weeks and 2 days)

That’s a great loss @schoolie258. I don’t want to worry you but if you are on oral contraceptives and you are having sex you should POAS. There have been quite a few cases of women becoming pregnant on GLP-1 medications as it affects the absorption of the pill.

schoolie258 · 05/05/2024 11:14

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping - I've got the copper coil, I'm not sure if that's as risky but I will defo POAS if nothing has appeared by Friday.
I did have a google and found a few Reddit threads where people have missed or had late periods so I'm hoping that's all it is Confused

The researchers are all saying that there’s an uptick in pregnancies because losing weight naturally makes you more fertile, but I don’t think they’ve specifically looked at women on the pill. It stands to reason that slowing of your digestion must slow the absorption of the pill.

Luckily I got my tubes tied 7 years ago - I don’t think Ozempic can interfere with that!

I got complacent yesterday. As I wasn’t feeling much appetite suppressant I went shopping with my daughters and had a crispy chicken wrap from McDs, which I had no problem finishing. 5am this morning (and 6am, and 9am) I was up with diarrhoea which I can’t really complain about as I knew it was a risk. I’ve had electrolytes, toast, and a tumeric latte this morning so hopefully that’s the end of it.

Cerialkiller · 05/05/2024 18:25

Now you bring it up, usually doing keto has triggered a period for me by now (day 10) but usually the pill stops them completely. Then again keto usually gives me awful constipation and i have to dose up with magnesium but that's been strangely absent on mounjaro too. Slightly the opposite direction if anything.

Had a weird thing happen today, didn't eat anything until 2pm today as we were out and there were no decent option. All ok, no cravings but plenty of hunger pangs, all fine and good. We have just had dinner (spicy rissoles, yogurt cucumber dip, green salad, tomatoes, chilli sauce) and i had a fairly modest portion and I looked down, and the plate just looked so enormous and unachievable half way though. I finished it as I hadn't eaten much today but that plate was NOT big. Usually I could have happily have had seconds and dessert and not even been particularly full.

It's the mental symptoms that are the strangest and the most important. I'm still physically hungry, I have that slightly hollow feeling when you haven't eaten but my brain has been rewired not to mind.

Also does anyone else find that things don't taste as strong? kind of muted? I suspect i'm not getting the burst of dopamine that I used to so food feels a bit flat?

Oh I lost another half a pound from yesterday, nearly 10lb in 10 days!

I've got a baby shower in a month and im determined to have lost over a stone by then, so another 4.5lb. Im hoping thats achievable and more so i can be will into the 12st category. Its good timing after a jab too.

So does it affect the absorption of all medications?

If they are taken orally then yes, it might - there is not much research yet: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38273155/#:~:text=Background%3A%20Glucagon%2Dlike%20peptide%201,with%20a%20narrow%20therapeutic%20index.

There is some suggestion that tirzapetide (ie Mounjaro) may have more of an effect than other GLP1 medications like semaglutide: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1544319123003709#:~:text=A%20drug%20interaction%20with%20substantial,to%20ineffective%20prevention%20of%20pregnancy.

lastapache · 05/05/2024 21:55

I asked my doctor specifically about HRT and ADHD meds (neither of which I take but I want to have the option) and he said there was no contraindications. They’re both oral meds. But he didn’t specifically talk about the slowing of the digestion 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pops1985 · 06/05/2024 07:13

Fourth jab of 2.5 done. Total weight loss over the last three weeks is 16lbs! So happy. I’m away for work this week so it’s going to be my first challenge of eating on the go/no kitchen to prep. Hope everyone has a good week!

Cerialkiller · 06/05/2024 07:22

@Pops1985
Wow! that's a great loss! Hoping I can do something similar. I can only afford to do this for 3/4 months so trying to get the most out of it I can.

Good luck! I started at quite a high weight (288lb) but it’s been so refreshing to get rid of the food noise and for the first time feel like I’m not dieting. 2.5mg has been really effective for me so think I’m going to halve my 5mg pen to try and make it last longer (and save some money).
