Welcome to thread 4!

Pointers for newbies:
1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1!

2 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system.

3 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

4 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

5 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

6 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :
www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.14201.pdf

7 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

8 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. Ask for suggestions of sites /types to buy.

9 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day. There are protein supplements you can take. Myprotein have a good range. Ask for a referral code if you want to buy some.

10 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Some of the places you can order from are:
MedExpress £149.99 - Sometimes there are codes that can be used for a discount. Ask for a code on here or do a Google search to try and find one.
Voy - £114.99 for first month then £229 after. Need a referral code (ask on here for one if needed)
The Family Chemist -£149
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 for 5mg
Asda £184
Boots £219

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
further reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

17 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

I tried Saxenda & Ozempic. On both I felt tired & slept a lot. Saxenda wasn’t working terribly well, so I switched. On Ozempic I felt dreadful, lasted only two weeks.Main impact was psychological, I was v depressed, anxious and so tired I spent most of my time in bed.
MJ very different.

@ChristmasLightsLover

The "regular, reasonable trips to the bathroom" made me laugh! 😂

Exitstrategist · 09/04/2024 06:42

Wine kicked my ass last night. It was my birthday yesterday and also injection day. A few glasses of wine, two aloe Vera tablets and the 5mg injection have created the perfect storm. Very unreasonable trips to loo and I think the day could be a write off. Learn from me!

RunningAndSinging · 09/04/2024 06:47

It’s weekly weigh in day and I am 900g/2lb down this week. 3.1 kg/nearly half a stone down overall in 6 weeks.

Heading in the right direction but very similar to my weight 2 weeks ago (just 100g less). However my trend line is much lower than it was two weeks ago (800g lower) - thank goodness for Happy Scale! I would like to go up to 7.5mg and keeping my fingers crossed. My first 7.5mg dose would be due on Mon 29th April so I think I am not being unrealistic in keeping my hopes up that I may have a pen by then.

MelissaLouRocks · 09/04/2024 07:23

This is a copy of an email someone on a Mounjaro Facebook received from Med Express, regarding 7.5mg.

Hi everyone! I've been following (lurking on) these threads for a couple of weeks now. All of your wonderful stories and advice has been very motivational, so thank you all!

I've come out of lurking as I have a question please which I can't see has been answered in these threads - sorry if it has!

I'm due injection 3 mounjaro 2.5 today.. do you prime before each dose? Or only prime for the first dose of each pen? I've seen a lot of mixed answers floating about and the instruction leaflet also doesn't clarify. I've primed the dose for both injections so far - 1st injection has a tiny bit of liquid but the 2nd one more liquid definitely shot out, so I'm worried I've wasted some! As I'm going to be taking it today, I thought I'd ask before going ahead.

Lol what! How come they are giving completely opposite information to asda and other pharmacies!

Well, will see what happens 12th April!

I think the reason for priming is to make sure the needle is working and the medicine is coming out. So I think as long as there is a little drop of liquid that comes out when priming then it is good to go.

I know, they don't seem to know arse from elbow, or communication within the company is lousy. Although the email did say could order from 12 April, they didn't actually confirm when the meds would physically be in stock and available to dispense. Pharmacy2U are saying 22 April now so... 🤔

VoyOySaveloy · 09/04/2024 07:53

Well.
I had my first dose yesterday and just had one of the worst nights of my life.
Raised heartbeat woke me causing the sensation of constant panic attacks and 3 episodes of diarrhea in the night.

I never want that again and don't think I can face another injection thinking that might happen. The thought that it might happen again tonight has me horrified.

I guess this med might not be for me.

Not a silly question and prime before each injection. The reserves left after the four weeks (the "5th dose" you've probably seen mentioned) is the allowance for liberal priming I believe, so it's not dipping into the reserves of the prescribed amount when you do it each time.

Yes true. Maybe they have info on when stock is coming in now then.
Also with American getting stock again maybe it's coming to us soon too.

Well I have my 2nd 5mg pen waiting so will do this for another month anyway.

That doesn't sound good 😔 sounds like you are getting strong side effects. Hopefully the symptoms will calm down today. If you feel better soon and you want to continue, maybe continue by injecting 1/2 a dose next week and until your body gets used to the meds.

Hope you feel better soon

Sorry to hear this, hope tonight is better. I guess this is why everyone starts on the low dose as it affects everyone differently. Hopefully it will be out of your system before too long,

JJR26 · 09/04/2024 08:02

Morning guys,

I have had a horrific night, 14 hours of diarrhoea and horrendous tummy cramps and neither seem to be easing up 🥴 for those of you that had this side effect, how long did it last for you?

dmott · 09/04/2024 08:04

Just done my 3rd dose of 2.5mg. I'm hoping the nausea doesn't hit as hard as last week or that if it hits it's over night (I seem to reach peak nausea around 12 hours after my injection).

I was 198 this morning so 2.2lbs down from last week totalling 5.7lbs in two weeks lost and I'm hoping to sail past this stage as I always struggle at the round numbers (180, 190, and 200)

Hope it clears up soon.

@ObsidianTree
I think they're saying there is no supply issues because, although delivery to the UK has been delayed there is plenty coming.

MelissaLouRocks · 09/04/2024 08:19

Apologies if this code has already been mentioned, I can't remember.

Apparently CONSULT-BUNNY is giving 15% off at Med Express.

Yes let's hope so!

I've not seen too many people wanting to go up to 7.5mg yet really. So once there is stock, everyone should all be able to get the dose they want for a while hopefully

I had palpitations when I had a night out and although I didn't eat much, I had a few drinks and I did vomit and get racing heart. I'm wondering if it was all of the sugar I consumed causing that. I haven't had it since as I'm more sensible now.

I am getting nausea and loose bowels now, but injected into my stomach and feel stronger side effects as a result. I am also getting very dry skin on my hands. I have had spots along my hairline all through this, but nothing significant.

Oh no, I was hoping the nausea for me was just after the first dose.

Due my 2nd one tomorrow, I felt like I was pregnant again! Not looking forward to that same feeling as last week.
I injected at 5pm I wonder if that matters.

Scalessayeek · 09/04/2024 08:41

Morning everyone! Weigh in after week 6, 1.7kg off this week, (3.5lbs). 26 pounds so far!

Very happy with this as I've worked my butt off exercise wise and only had 50g of Easter egg so far 🫣

Walking pad arriving Friday 😆

ObsidianTree · 09/04/2024 08:44
