Please can I have some protein shake recommendations? I’m struggling to hit my protein targets so any help on that would be very welcome!

Daisypod · 01/04/2024 21:38

@Whattodo112222 I took my first dose today too but not noticing the appetite suppression so far. I have eaten a lot less than usual today but that's because I've come on holiday with my mum and she's very judgemental about food so I always eat less around her. I don't think this week will be a good example of how it will be for me as I'll be with her all week!

TheOverweightFortySomething · 01/04/2024 21:50

Anyone else order on Saturday from Med Express and waiting for their pen to be dispatched.

God damn bank holidays 😆

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 01/04/2024 22:01

Hi everyone. Been following everyone’s progress from the first thread. Took my first 2.5 last Friday, so currently on day 4. Like you, Whattodo, I felt the appetite suppression from the first day. Weighed myself on start day, but couldn’t face looking at it, so videoed it on my phone, so I can still keep track down the line. I’ve also taken ‘before’ pics, all safely stashed in my ‘Hidden” folder 😂

I’ve had a few side effects, mainly headaches on days 2/3, but the drop in appetite is incredible. I have always loved ‘healthier’ options, lots of veg etc.., but my portions were massive, plus my biggest weakness has always been crisps, I could eat limitless amounts. Now I’m eating MUCH smaller portions, and feeling fully satiated. I have absolutely no desire to snack, which previously would have been unfathomable.

Curious to see if these effects will wear off as I near 2nd injection day. Have only told husband and daughter, don’t think I’ll tell friends yet, if at all.

Day 3 for me and I'm still adjusting to it.
I had to leave early this morning for a long train journey and though I had planned to have a protein shake I couldn't face it. I ended up having a few olives, a bit of cheese and crackers on the train. It gave me the most horrendous indigestion. I was sat down for 7 hours, without much movement, and I wonder if that made it worse. I ended up being sick when I got to my destination, but mainly bringing up the water I had just drank.
I think I'm also struggling with sparkling water, that's what I had for the journey and I just wanted some still water.
DC and I are staying at my mums, and the one positive if she serves everything up on platters so you can help yourself, meant I could load up on veg and chicken. Feel much better now and most amazingly of all, I haven't scoffed any of the opened pack of chocolate mini eggs that my youngest put in my handbag!

Anyone short of breath ? I’m worried it’s due to anemia or similar so I’ve ordered a load of stuff from my protein including multivitamins but a bit concerned as it’s when I walk around outside .

Hi
I usually have 250mls almond milk with a scoop of strawberry protein powder. I add 50g of greek yogurt and some chia seeds. Its at least 30g of protein, I sometimes add peanut butter too

I'm using clear whey protein powder from www.myprotein.com
I've got the raspberry lemonade flavour which is actually really nice. Quite sweet though. I also bought pineapple and coconut but have haven't tried either of those yet.

If you want a discount code you could use referral code SARAH-R1XB3 which will give us both £20 credit. I used a referral code from the OP on this thread and the discount works immediately in your basket.
You also get an extra 5% off as a new customer and if you go through TopCashback you can get extra discount on top.

It said awaiting dispatch on my account so hoping they post tomorrow.

I am losing really well in week three but already getting a bit upset at the prospect of all the weight piling back on when I stop injecting, which all evidence suggests is the most likely outcome. I’m just madly hoping that I can get a sense of the sort of portion I need to eat to keep myself where I need to be, as my basic habits are not too bad.

MelissaLouRocks · 02/04/2024 00:17

Hey everyone, mind if I join? Long time lurker signed up just for this!

So took my first dose at 10:15 this evening, not an issue with that.

Had a protein shake beforehand, stocked with good food, drink 3 litres of water daily anyway. I've also now added in electrolytes, collagen, pure protein powder, chia seeds, aloe Vera and think there was something else but can't remember!

I'm disabled and exercise is pretty tough for me, which is frustrating as used to a county athlete. My daughter does have a mini gym set up in spare room at home though, so will do weights with her when I'm able.

I notice people have been asking if it makes any difference where you inject? My daughter has been type 1 diabetic for years, and her consultant says yes it does! Apparently drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site (this is subcutaneous injections btw).

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
• Bottom

I just thought that may answer a question for some people!

So, if there's anything else I should be doing/buying/taking/dreading at the moment, I'd be very grateful if you knowledgeable lot would fill me in. 😊

Good luck to one and all. 💐

SW 196.6lbs
CW 196.6lbs
GW 160lbs (but will review if I get there!)

I have found an April code online, which apparently gives 25% discount on Med Express. It's LUCK25.

Apologies, but I don't know if it actually works or not, as I don't need any more just yet. Fingers crossed.

I used your code. Do you need a sharps box with the Mounjaro pen?

Hi, thank you for using my code, comes sharps box and needles. It’s a fantastic. Good luck with your journey x

A gain this week 🤨. 1.75lb / 0.8kg I guess I am still 2.2kg/nealy 5lb below starting weight. Two roasts this weekend a bit of chocolate (but not loads) and out of routine. Hopefully next week will be better.

I like the clear whey from myprotein too. The bitter lemon is my fave - tastes like home made lemonade and isn't too sweet. If you have two of those shakes, it's 1200ml of water too - so hitting two birds with one stone.

ObsidianTree · 02/04/2024 07:22

Morning all, lovely to see so many newbies. Welcome and good luck ☺️

So over the weekend I have felt guilty as I ate more than usual and had some chocolate. Was worried about what the scales would show this morning but am surprised that I have stayed the same! I am a bit worried also as I seemed to be able to eat more than usual and felt maybe the 5mg wasn't working as well as it had been a week ago. I am going back on track from today and will see what my appetite is like this week. I suppose if 7.5mg was available I might have been wondering whether I should be going up to that, but with that not an option, I really hope that 5mg works for me for the next month or so as that is all I have!

For those asking about protein, Myprotein is a good shout and there are referral codes around so do ask on here if you want protein as you might as well get £20 credit for buying some! I've had a few people use my referral code, so others please do share your referral codes too to benefit also :)

Thanks for the MedExpress code @MelissaLouRocks :)

Good luck everyone

My daughter and I are really suffering from hayfever this week and it has triggered her asthma. Could it be pollen?

April88 · 02/04/2024 07:57

2nd 5mg injection today.

Only lost 1lb this week, total of 13lb since starting.

Thinking of trying the aloe Vera tablets to help 😂

ObsidianTree · 02/04/2024 08:00

@MelissaLouRocks

That's interesting about injection sites. Does the site only effect the absorption rate, or is there other effects?

Re supplements, it sounds like you have it all covered! I take Magnesium citrate too. I used to take to help me sleep before mounjaro, but heard it helps with constipation too, so take for that also! I also take psylum husks for fibre. The combination of magnesium and psylum husks keeps me regular! I think! Struggled with constipation at first but now feel it's got better with that combo.

Good luck on your journey ☺️

I think I'm finally seeing some effect from the 5mg as I don't feel as hungry. I'm really fed up of the insomnia though - is anyone else suffering? I'm awake most of the night and dreading this week at work as it's going to be very mentally taxing yet I can barely keep my eyes open 🥱

montysma1 · 02/04/2024 08:08

Wanting to order 5mg.

Currently with Medexpress. It would t let me order until today and as I thought, the bloody discount codes have expired.
Have left my basket open since last night in the hopes of being sent a code. ( I was, but it didn't apply to MJ🙄).

Any cheap deals or codes out there that I have missed for 5mg?
