Re: keeping it secret. I’m not telling anyone, I can imagine a lot of people would be judgemental and unkind- maybe even annoyed that they have to work hard to stay slim, while those of us who start at an obese BMI get medical help to maintain a healthy weight.

I don’t really know many people who are obese- I’m the outlier in my circle. I suspect people would think I’m lazy and they would frown upon me using injections, asking why can’t you just eat less?

I’m just happy this is working and I’m able to have full control over my healthy diet. It’s very freeing after years of restriction and giving up periodically because it’s too difficult to keep denying yourself. And once you start, you can’t stop.

Namechange25793 · 17/03/2024 21:05

One thing I wanted to ask is what everyone is doing re: treats, when previously you relied upon food and drink based treats?

I’m thinking if I have news to celebrate or a big win… what can I do to replace the food-based treats? Any ideas?

So far I’ve come up with bath, perfume, book in cafe with a nice coffee, personal shopper at John Lewis (when funds allow!) and visit to the seaside. Any ideas for smaller treats welcome… even if they’re low calorie food treats!

FlappyFish · 17/03/2024 21:19

The treats I have are Lush bath bombs and hair conditioner. Alongside copious vitamins and electrolyte drinks.

Investinmyself · 17/03/2024 22:02

Facial, new clothes, nice walk in countryside. When I was losing weight a few years ago I used to look for deals on groupon for little treats.
I’m day 5, had more of an appetite today and eaten most cals since starting (still only 1300) but feel over full I definitely need to eat smaller portions.

Namechange25793 · 17/03/2024 23:34

Groupon for treats is a good shout- haven’t used that website in years! More experiences and less food for treats … and it helps that summer is coming up

Re: needles, I found a supplier based in Norwich that is reputable and ordered from there. All medical grade and managed to get needles, swabs postage for less than £10. I was worried about accidentally buying from a rogue supplier on Amazon:

Morning all, checking back in after a weekend in Disneyland. I just got on the scales and I am up 2lb.i weighed before I left and I had stayed the same as previous week. Not surprising really! I decided not to restrict myself and did try and enjoy meals etc. I struggled with eating much but still felt like eating. Ready to get back on the diet this week and starting properly on 5mg!

Two pounds is impressive! It’s probably a lot of water weight, walking around etc. It’ll be gone super quick

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 07:14

Thanks. I did clock a lot of steps there too. It's something I should be aiming to do more of as day to day I don't do much walking usually.

@Namechange25793 That's a great question. When I'm consistently to under 120kg I will be using my new handbag. Bought it on Vinted. It arrives this week and I'm nearly there so that's my prize!! I don't know what the next prize will be. Or what weight I will need to be. Need to think about that.

I'm thinking about starting with a moisturiser. I've never ever used one on my body. And I think maybe I should as I'm about to have loose skin. And I want to, for want of a phrase, love myself whilst I am doing this. It's going to be a couple of years so I need to think about how to change my mental frameworks whilst I do this.

I'm also thinking about a cookery class. And new undies as I think the current ones will be too big soon.

ChristmasLightsLover · 18/03/2024 07:51

@ObsidianTree We are in this for the long run. There will be points for us all where we eat more and need to rebalance. I imagine your step count has combatted a fair bit too so high five for that!

Hope the move to 5mg goes well. Keep us posted.

ChristmasLightsLover · 18/03/2024 07:54

Sorry. Three separate posts as I have menopausal brain fog. Can't remember names to tag people...

My question of the day, which is delightful for a Monday morning. What are others doing about the constipation? I bought laxatives from boots. Own brand. Took one tablet and had a bit of a result but not much. Took two at 5pm yesterday and at 5am today they worked. But it was painful and my stomach area now really aches!!!

What is there that I can use more consistently please? That might be more "gentle"? Confused

Pigriver · 18/03/2024 07:57

I pop a sachet of movicol in my daily electrolyte drink! Both of my kids were constipated as toddler and I had a box left. Just 1 per day keeps me regular rather than the cramps and urgency that comes with taking a laxative.

Wonkypictureframe · 18/03/2024 07:58

I am drinking a lot of water, and strategic coffees, which seem to be keeping me going. Also eating a lot of veg in my meals - I have fibre in mind a lot!

Second jab tomorrow. I weighed this morning and I’m 2lb down. Not a massive loss but I didn’t expect one - I’m not eating hugely less but just differently. Also I FEEL a lot slimmer. No bloating and my clothes are looser. I feel in control of what I eat. Quite happy for the weight to go down slowly as long as it stops going up.

Yesterday I only had one meal which was homemade chicken and leek pie (small bit), mash, carrots and chard. No wine although others has it. No interest in it.

ChequeredPastel · 18/03/2024 08:08

Coffee on an empty stomach 😄

but lactulose is good , can take a small dose to keep things moving or a bigger dose to clear. Works within an hour too so you’ll know you’ll be home 😂😂😂

ChequeredPastel · 18/03/2024 08:09

I’m due my jab tonight and I’m ravenous today. Feel weak and light headed. Just had some toast and butter which helped but followed it with a sweet tea because I feel like my blood sugar is ridiculously low. Feeling much better now. I weighed this morning. 9lbs down in my first week….

I found a box of movicol from when I had my daughter 6 years ago! They expired in 2022 so didn't take any. They are probably bad now right?! Probably have the same effect even if gone off 😂.

I seemed to be more regular in Disney and managed to get past my constipation. So didn't take any fibre tablets when I got home but will restart them tomorrow in anticipation. If I get build ups again I will buy some stronger stuff for sure.

Can confirm that 10 year old paediatric movicol is effective when taken with prunes, linseed and strong coffee. It’s a cocktail.

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 08:41

Thanks @ChristmasLightsLover. I definitely didn't go to Disney planning to diet! So happy that I came away with a small gain! Looking forward to getting back to being healthier this week anyway :)

Great start @Wonkypictureframe. Any loss is good. I also don't have great losses, but have been eating carbs. I think I would do better if I reduced my carbs so going to try that this week.

That's a great loss @ChequeredPastel. I think the meds do run out towards end of week. So good luck with next jab ☺️

I've avoided constipation thankfully. I'm drinking a lot too but it's probably just luck. About to do my second dose so hope I've not cursed myself now.

2.5kg off my first week, I'm very pleased. Definite appetite reduction but not excessive, which I'm very happy about. I want to feel hungry at times and I don't want to eat 2 bites and be stuffed. I figure it's good to feel a bit "normal" so I can work on dealing with my eating issues. I really don't want to pile weight back on the minute I stop.

Soukmyfalafel · 18/03/2024 09:12

Day 5. I know it's wearing off because I was ravenous this morning, but really felt like I should do something about it and eat. I've had 2 poached eggs and a slice of bread. I'm going to try and keep active to burn off any extra I have from appetite coming back. That's my strategy, but exercise makes me hungry so that might make it worse.

I'm not really sure how much I've lost. I was 11st on Sunday last week. Jabbed Wednesday last week and was 10st 13/12 and this morning said 10st 6. I don't feel like I've lost all that much and my clothes fitting and body look much the same. I don't think it's even possible to create a calorie deficit enough to lose that much in five days, so think my scales are in need of a new battery! It's TTOTM now too, so the weight last week may have been PM weight gain.

I'm thinking of getting needles to get last dose out and have less time between jabs, but I will see how I feel on my second first. I'd rather not do that though. Hopefully it might build up in my system more and have a longer lasting effect next week.

RunningAndSinging · 18/03/2024 09:23

I had success with the ‘fifth dose’ this morning. I used a 1ml syringe and an orange needle. A small needle as needles go but bigger and longer than the insulin syringes but I have plenty of sub cutaneous tissue and injected at a 45 degree angle. I could feel it a bit more but it wasn’t bad. I got 0.7ml in total but only used 0.6ml to double the last 2.5mg dose from the pen.

R4ch402 · 18/03/2024 09:35

Took my third 2.5mg dose yesterday, I'm only 3lbs down from when I started on the 3rd March, however, my trousers are fitting better and my stomach appears flatter. I'm hoping to have more weight loss on the 5mg as I have 9 stone to lose. I'm sticking to a 1500 cal a day diet which is a 500cal deficit and trying to get as much protein as possible and eating low carb. Fingers crossed I shift more weight.

naturesponge · 18/03/2024 09:36

feeling a bit dejected about it all today. first jab was only on wednesday, admittedly, but i've been weighing every day and i lost 2lbs in 2 days, then put them back on!

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 09:54

@naturesponge try not to worry about it at the moment. Maybe you just need a higher dose to start feeling the full effects. Also the body fluctuates day to day so hopefully you might still have a loss by Wed.

I am starting to worry about the stock of 7.5mg. I think someone posted on last thread when the doses would come in roughly, but on a Facebook group someone has said that 7.5mg might not be in until August! Which would be madness!

Has anyone messaged Asda etc to see when the next amount would be available?
