feeling a bit dejected about it all today. first jab was only on wednesday, admittedly, but i've been weighing every day and i lost 2lbs in 2 days, then put them back on!

Honestly - lots of us are not losing much on the first dose and a 2 lb fluctuation is not unusual although frustrating. There are lots of higher doses, the drug does build up in the system over time so next week might be a bit better anyway. We need to be patient.

It is amazing that some people seem to be losing 9lb in their first week but don’t be put off if you don’t as 2.5mg is not really meant to be a therapeutic dose.

I agree with not being dejected. I decided not to weigh myself constantly at the start as I know from experience I fluctuate wildly over a week and it just makes me miserable. And as @RunningAndSinging said, the 2.5mg dose is about starting slowly to reduce side effects rather than dumping us all straight on a fully therapeutic dose and getting all the side effects.

Weekly losses also massively affected by your starting weight, what your diet was like before and so much individual stuff.

@KeepingUndercover @RunningAndSinging that's true, and i haven't suffered with side effects really (constipation nonwithstanding!) so perhaps i need to count myself lucky. fingers crossed for the next few weeks.

KeepingUndercover · 18/03/2024 10:13

I also think it's worth celebrating the non weight related results too. Are you eating better generally? Moving more? It's all making you healthier whatever is on the scales.

Wonkypictureframe · 18/03/2024 10:23

Walking lots will also help with constipation.

I definitely wasn’t expecting a massive loss and so it was! But as I said I really feel thinner and my jeans are noticeably looser. Might be worth doing measurements too as there can be real differences between size and weight.

I had my 4th injection of 2.5mg last night. I weighed myself this week and haven't lost any weight, I tried a 500 calorie deficit last week, I guess it wasn't enough, going to try and up it this week. It's hard not to be disappointed, I just keep trying to remember it's a marathon not a sprint.

You need to look at weight loss over a whole month. Stick to it and don’t give up. I’d stick with the 500 calorie deficit and see what happens in the next month. Slow and steady wins the race!

Investinmyself · 18/03/2024 11:12

Day 6 here. No side effect except constipation but appetite isn’t as suppressed as first few days. I feel like I could eat but not desperate to eat.
I’m cc and focusing on eating lots of protein and veg. Upping my water and steps.
It isn’t going to melt weight off I need to put in work. It’s just a tool to help. I’ve been able to cut out all snacking which is a massive positive.
I’ve prepped some meals for week when I’m busy at work.

Investinmyself · 18/03/2024 11:13

I double checked a few tdee calculators for my cals. I’ve been way under cals this week but will see how I go.

Found this on a Facebook group. I am hoping this is true.

I feel like even if I want to stay on 5mg, I still want the 7.5mg pen and would count clicks to get more doses out the pen.

I saw a list yesterday that put 7.5mg back to April and 10mg back to May. Have you counted the clicks on the 2.5 and 5mg? I counted the 5mg yesterday and it was 59 to the 1 marker so didn't know if it was the same amount for each pen and just a higher concentration of meds in each dose

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 12:03

@ticktock19 ah that's a worry! Hope it gets into stock by early April then!

I wonder if clicks might be different for 7.5mg. So might be a bit trial and error. I wonder if you can twist the pen back and forward to try and work out the dose... But no idea! I should have practiced with my old 2.5mg pen!

You can twist the dial back and forth to count the clicks.

Absolutely, I wish I'd practiced on my old pen too and counted the clicks 🤦‍♀️. Found the screenshot that was posted on Facebook. It's from a clinic that I've not used so not sure how much info they have

Thanks @RunningAndSinging! That's good to know!

Thanks for the dates @ticktock19. Let's hope they come in before everyone needing to move up need it!

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 12:28

I messaged Asda and asking about 7.5mg and they replied quickly saying sometime this week 7.5mg should be in stock! So that's great for those wanting to move up when they want to!

That's brilliant news, thanks

1stTimeMummy2021 · 18/03/2024 12:32

@ObsidianTree Couldn't you do the dosing via the insulin needles you've bought? If the pen says the mg to ml dosage then it'd be loads more accurate to do the maths and use the needle than the clicks I imagine, just a thought.

1stTimeMummy2021 · 18/03/2024 12:34

@Namechange25793 Thank you, you're right, I'm going to try and weigh myself less often to avoid disappointment. Thinking if I weigh myself monthly than I definitely should have lost something by then.

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 12:35

That sounds doable I think @1stTimeMummy2021 . I noticed the 5mg said it's 0.6 dose. So probably will be sam for the 7.5mg too.

zaffa · 18/03/2024 12:50

Has anyone felt lightheaded on the first dose within the first week? I think I'm feeling a little off but I can't be certain I injected on Friday and this is the first time I've felt that way

ObsidianTree · 18/03/2024 13:02

I remember feeling light headed once. The feeling passed quite quickly. Not sure if it was in first week tho.

OP posts:
Mortigua · 18/03/2024 13:09

Feeling disheartened today . I weighed yesterday and had lost 3 lb . I felt like things were moving and the calorie cutting was working but I think it was just a one off due to not having had dinner the night before (wasn’t hungry which never happens to me !) but today it’s back on! I think I need to just crack on with it as it is helping me cut calories hugely , it’s just I thought the weight might come off a bit faster .

Namechange25793 · 18/03/2024 13:16

I think it’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting fast weight loss straight away when on a diet and when it doesn’t happen, you feel despondent and give up. I have had this sooo many times when dieting. It’s the diet and binge cycle.

Whereas I think weightloss medication is a mindset shift, it will help us keep going over the longer term when reserves of willpower are low, temptations are high and the binge eating is calling.

So try and not be too deterred by the scales … in the medium term you WILL lose weight but more importantly you will be able to keep going and not give up.

At least that’s what I’m hoping! It’s week 4 for me.

Mortigua · 18/03/2024 13:21

Thank you. You’re right it’s not about today or this week it’s about the longer term changes . I’m eating far less but there are things I still need to get more of a grip on (weekend socialising , also being way too sedentary) . It’s the downward trajectory that matters really- I think in the past I’ve had quite quick weight loss but I was far more active and also younger .
