I have had great success on 2.5mg and I’m due to go up to 5 next week. I had questioned why I’m increasing the dose when it seems to be working, but it’s worth remembering that the therapeutic dose starts at 5mg and 2.5mg is just the stepping stone to get there.

I decided to increase to 5mg and stay there as long as I can. There’s no hurry to 7.5mg unless you need it or are looking to restrict your calorie intake to the bare minimum to induce rapid weight loss.

But if you plan to go very low on your calorie intake (under 1,000), it’s worth putting a time limit in place. Eg on the Fast 800 it’s only advised to follow the plan for 12 weeks max for health reasons. Any longer than that, you can develop problems. Sadly looking at Sharon Osborne she has taken it too far, she looks frail and unwell.

I’ve noticed a few things this week…

I’m really cold at times. This is most unlike me!

I’m finding it easy to stick to 1,470 calories. Don’t want to overeat.

I’m not getting the muscle aches or headaches I got when I started on the medication.

My bowel movements are regular but I’m not getting the looser stools I got before. So it’s actually improved my digestion. I used to have extremely fast digestion (not a good thing!) and that has gone.

I can bend down at my knees without effort- I have a spring in my step. I’ve only just lost a stone in weight but I feel more flexible and joints less stiff.

I can feel like I have a lump in my throat - but drinking makes it go away.

Thanks @ObsidianTree I need more protein so I've used your code to get some bargain protein drinks.

I'm trying to cut down on UPF's alongside cutting calories but my protein intake isn't great so hoping this will help!

OoohLovelySlippers · 26/03/2024 10:16

Here's an email which I've just sent to Asda which I trust is self-explanatory.

...........................

I refer to the above order which you cancelled.

You advised that you had "released" the hold of the funds in my account 1) in an online message and 2) on a telephone call with one of your advisers when I phoned to chase it up.

I spoke to my bank and they advise this is not true. You have done nothing. You are simply allowing me to wait for the 7 day period to elapse at which point my bank will automatically release the charge.

I find this extremely dishonest.

Could you please provide an explanation?

I've got the protein peach ice tea from my protein too. Just having my first glass of it. It's actually nice.

Also having a protein pancake from m&s. I've woke up hungry today which I never do usually even before the injections.

It is nice 🙂 I was drinking it yesterday and finished the glass without realising. Nice easy way to get protein!

I'm a bit like you namechange and it has slowed things down a bit for me. I'm not losing as fast now and stayed the same for days, but overall I'm 2lb down from last week, which is perfectly fine. I've been poorly with a cold though and haven't exercised much. I was hungry yesterday, but it has gone again now, possibly because im a bit rough. I was gonna go early with my 3rd injection, but think i will wait now.

I have ordered my 5mg now, as I was worried there would be a bit of a stampede in early April if the 7.5 isn't ready, but hope they don't refuse based on requesting early. There's the bank hols too, which slows deliveries down. My BMI is only in the overweight category now, so hope they don't decline. Same provider.

Oh thanks :)

I tried to mint choc protein powder and it's easy to drink and tastes ok. I added too much water so it was a bit thin, but I still didn't mind it. Also I used a blender to mix it as it didn't mix easily with a spoon

Ooh I would also state that if they are unable to provide the medication you will need to access it somewhere else as soon as possible, and they are preventing that.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 10:32

That's upsetting @OoohLovelySlippers . Hope they refund your money soon

Right, I'm taking my first dose today! I actually received it last week but due to timing of various things going on and then being a bit unwell tummy-wise over the weekend had decided to leave it until today in case of side effects.

My main concern with side effects is being able to hide them as my daughter is off school and I'm not telling her about taking Mounjaro (or my husband although I will probably tell him soon)

The main thing making me nervous is being able to maintain an ongoing supply, especially as our system is a bit different to the U.S. There, your doctor can write you a prescription and you can take it to whatever pharmacy has stock so there's no issue with your BMI being now too low to pass the screening for a new prescription from a new provider. I don't know for sure if there is an issue here if you can show that you were previously prescribed it when your BMI was higher though?

You could go to a private doctor for a new prescription and they would take your history on the drug into account but I have noted that some of the suppliers will not accept a prescription from any doctor other than theirs!

Here, if whichever provider wrote your first prescription goes out of stock it may be tricky to get a new one if your BMI has fallen, so having to really weigh up which provider to go with long term as planning to take it for 6-7 months all being well and would like to be able to titre down at the end too.

However, have decided may as well get started and cross whatever bridges when the time comes!

Onedaylikethi5 · 26/03/2024 11:48

Protein shakes are much lovelier if blended with loads of ice.

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 12:08

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 09:31

Good luck @Mortigua . I lost 9lbs in my first month.
I definitely feel 5mg is a good dose and is working well for me. I have lost the cavings I had on 2.5mg and no longer crave chocolate! I'm feeling quite positive that the weight will come off now :)

Thank you . I hope the 5mg does it for me. I suppose I need to remember it’s only been 3 weeks due to my mishap of injecting myself with the priming dose the first week. I am eating so little Compared to my usual (recent) eating habits .

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 12:47

Ive ordered from med express now for my next (5mg) . I didn’t get the discount either due to having ordered from them before (orlistat, had forgotten all about that!)
ive sent my photo of me and my ID so now waiting for them to request proof of my 2.5mg order and date .

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/03/2024 12:50

I cancelled the 5mg and tried to order again with the code but obviously didn't go through due to first order, so I've emailed them asking if they would honour as technically it's my first order, and that I'm moving from another provider.

Won't hold out much hope as it was my error but I'll see what they say.

CiderJabs · 26/03/2024 12:52

I've had my 5mg delivered today. I've used health express for both as it was fairly simple to reorder. I was not too precious about saving a few quid and being hassled!

Took my 4th jab today. So far I've lost 10lbs in 3 weeks which I'm pleased about. Having said that i was starving last night and needed a fair amount of willpower not to eat any crap after dinner! Ended up in bed by 1030 so that worked well as a distraction.

RunningAndSinging · 26/03/2024 12:56

Another side effect I have is being quite thirsty but drinking water is a good thing so that’s ok. I have been quite tired but then I have also been busy so not sure if the cause.

When I was on Wegovy my BMI dropped below 30 and I changed providers quite a bit due to the shortages and prices and it wasn’t a problem. Hopefully it will be the same for Mounjaro. If everyone who’s BMI goes below 30 can’t have it anymore then lots of people (me anyway) will be yo yoing and that is not healthy either.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 13:01

That's a shame about the codes @Mortigua and @AccidentallyWesAnderson

Hopefully they will honor it @AccidentallyWesAnderson!

@RunningAndSinging If med express is approved for me, will my Asda account stay active? So if medexpess doesn't have stock I can order through Asda still? Thanks

OP posts:
RunningAndSinging · 26/03/2024 13:16

I have never used Asda. I used health express, quickmeds, the virtual slimming clinic, Bury pharmacy and another pharmacy that I have forgotten the name of over a long period including when my BMI was below 30. I would put my starting weight in the application as well as being accurate with my current weight and it seemed to be ok. The only time I was refused was near the beginning when I had not yet had the therapeutic dose due to shortages and Health Express said I hadn’t lost enough weight and that it therefore wasn’t working for me.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 13:30

Great thanks :)

I've just taken my 4th dose, ive lost 8.6lb in 3 weeks and im happy with that. Whilst my eating has been suppressed i haven't gone off wine!

I have ordered the 5mg and im using My London Pharmacy, their subscription is to send the dosages out every calendar month, but i emailed asking for it this week given the bank hols, i didn't want to miss out next Tuesday.

I may take the extra 2.5mg on Friday to 'get through' the weekend and use it up.

Their 5mg is costing £185, they initially asked for ID and photo to be uploaded and its been seamless so far.

Whogivesatossedpancake · 26/03/2024 13:56

I've noticed being more hungry this week, but it has been gradual and im not ravenous or having food noise.

No side effects from it except for constipation.

Thanks for the ongoing thread, it's been good to hear others' experiences.

@RunningAndSinging
That's good to know, who was it you switched to if you don't mind me asking? Just might be useful in future.

I thought someone on here tried to reorder from a different supplier and was turned down as their BMI wasn't high enough, so had to go back to the original one.

MiniCooperLover · 26/03/2024 14:25

Whogivesatossedpancake, I do think that's a good thing. We should feel hunger, to me it's more about trying to learn how to deal with normal hunger (which is what I feel on Mounjaro I think) as opposed to huge/bingeing hunger. I've been quite happy with smaller regular meals though I know that'll slow down my loss. Having had gallstones recently I don't want to rush things.
