I have cut out sugar and processed carbs since starting the jabs as it's making it way easier! I tend to snack on protein things like:
Hard boiled eggs
Salami & cheese rolled up
Pepperami sticks
Cooked chicken with mayo
Smoked salmon or mackerel
Veg dipped in hummus
Total Greek yoghurt with berries
Protein shakes (mainly for breakfast!)

One of my favourite high fiber and protein snacks is ryvita with soft cheese and smoked salmon with a bit of black pepper and lemon juice, yum!

I'm starting to worry about how little protein I am eating. Found this site that is helpful and thought I would share

https://www.eatingwell.com/article/7959051/foods-to-add-about-10-grams-of-protein-to-your-meals/

Does anyone know of any food protein calculators to work out how much protein we should be eating a day?

Thanks for posting this . Good info 👍

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 26/03/2024 04:35

Clear whey protein is good too. Last month I got lemon flavour from my fitness pal and I just add a scoop to my water bottle and drink it throughout the day at work. Tastes like diluted juice and it's a way to get 20g of protein without having to eat anything extra. (Haven't started Mounjaro yet but trying to get into better eating/protein habits until I do!)

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 05:57

That's for all the protein advice :)

I bought some collagen powered from my protein. It has nearly 20g of protein per scoop and it tastes alright. I got peach tea flavour and I don't mind it.

I also bought mint choc protein powder for my husband as he wanted to start having protein powder. I will try that today to see if it's any good.

If anyone wants a referral for myprotein we both get £20 credit!

Yes please @ObsidianTree that's a great idea to sneak in some more protein, I'm going to order some collagen too.

BigBessie · 26/03/2024 06:18

I've been drinking the collagen protein from My Protein as am worried about hair loss. Am menopausal so my hair is already manky enough without weightloss hair. I've got the vanilla one which I mix with unsweetened soya and add a spoonful of spirulina

Week 4 weigh in and after my first week on 5 mg I have lost 2.1kg/4.6lb this week and 3kg/6.6lb in total.

I can really notice the effect the higher dose is having, although still no side effects I don’t think (maybe some non sulphur burps and very mild morning nausea but not really unless I think about it). It’s amazing to be under 13st again and trending downwards. I have four more 5 mg doses to use assuming I use the fifth dose. Lots of time to decide whether to go up to 7.5mg (if it is available). I guess I will see if the effects start to wear off or not.

Hey,

Here is a referral link. Just checked the tcs and cs and you have to spend £45 to get the £20 credit. But if you plan to buy protein long term then it would be useful!

@BigBessie I'm worried about hair loss too. Any diet I have done long term thinned my hair so want to try and prevent this time!

Well done @RunningAndSinging

I am noticing the 5mg is working so much better for me too.

5th injection today (first official 5mg).

Lost 3lb this week, a total of 12lb so I’m pleased with that.

Start weight: 16 stone 12
Start weight Mounjaro: 15 stone 2
Current weight: 14 stone 4

I haven’t had any side effects other than constipation. I feel like the extra 2.5 I got out last week worked well, so I’m hoping to stay on 5mg for as long as possible.

Scalessayeek · 26/03/2024 07:30

Today was my 5th injection too. No additional weight loss for me, I should have with my deficits but I think it's the 3/4 days of constipation. I've started dulcolax so we shall see...

So 17lb loss still after the four weeks.

And I got the 5th dose out of the pen with the normal needles (I then had a tiny bit left and did actually get that out with the big needle but it was only 0.05ml 🫣

I held the purple end with some pliers and then turned the main pen with brute force until it wound up to 1. It had a fair bit of resistance to begin with then was fine. Injected fine too! Regretting not going up earlier now to be honest but I may either give this next pen at earlier intervals or just do it as normal and double up week fours last dose like others have.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 07:44

Great loss @April88

Glad 5mg is working well for you

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 07:47

@Scalessayeek do you mean you have another 2.5mg pen instead of getting 5mg?

Hopefully you'll have a loss next week. Well done for getting the extra dose out the pen :)

Pigriver · 26/03/2024 07:50

I'm really surprised I've not had any side effects either. Some mild constipation in the first week but that isn't being the realms of possibility with me any way. Some slight queasiness which passes with water. I'm a wimp too and don't tolerate being ill!
I'm in week 4 of 2.5mg and have lost 12lb so far. I'm astounded.
I'll do the 5th dose of 2.5mg and then move up to 5mg and stay there. I need to lose another 2.5 stone to be a healthy BMI but will be aiming for 3 to give me a buffer.
I'm almost the wight I was when I first started dieting after my first child 🙄🙈

Investinmyself · 26/03/2024 08:05

Protein wise I find it handy to track on nutracheck - I have mine set to show cals and protein.
Things like a costa latte with ss milk 10g protein. Skyr/greek or protein yoghurt-Aldi does a great range.
For recipes I like Fraser Reynolds he has a book and instagram, I’ve been making his chicken & veg & lentils soup under 300 cals 35g protein.

BlackFriYay · 26/03/2024 08:31

Day 2 after my second dose of 2.5mg. I'm not feeling amazing today. I'm knackered + all of my limbs are aching. I'm not sure if it's the side effect others have been having or just a delayed response to a heavy gym workout on Sunday.

On the bright side I've been able to go to the toilet (a miracle for me as I live with chronic constipation from pre existing medication) and I'm another 1.7lbs down overnight 😂

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 09:03

@BlackFriYay I think aching limbs is a side effect. It doesn't last too long. I've had it about twice and each time I take a few ibuprofen and that tends to get rid of it. I think magnesium supplements help too.

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 09:08

I am planning to do a day early this week because I’m moving up to 5 using the last dose and thought better to do it on a wfh day than in the office . Fingers crossed it gets things going as I’m losing but nowhere near the rates some of you are - 17lb in a month is an amazing result for example .

Scalessayeek · 26/03/2024 09:08

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 07:47

Yes I have both in the fridge. I bought the 5mg first then read more about titrating up and decided to stay as low for as long as I could. Now I'm regretting it 🫣 I think I'm going just have to suck it up. Can't afford to double dose. I'm still having a massive calorie deficit and I have an ok appetite suppressant.

I haven't stuck to a diet for more than two weeks in the last few years though so I need to look at all the benefits Mounjaro is giving me. Lower bp, lower resting heart rate too!

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 09:21

Ah ok @Scalessayeek

At least it has an extra dose so you could go up to 5mg with the 4th week dose!

I think 5mg is a good dose to plan to stay on really. Once you get there :)

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 09:31

Good luck @Mortigua . I lost 9lbs in my first month.
I definitely feel 5mg is a good dose and is working well for me. I have lost the cavings I had on 2.5mg and no longer crave chocolate! I'm feeling quite positive that the weight will come off now :)

I've got the protein peach ice tea from my protein too. Just having my first glass of it. It's actually nice.

Also having a protein pancake from m&s. I've woke up hungry today which I never do usually even before the injections.
