@StressyMessyJess I think the main thing to be aware of is that you have to turn it a lot to get to 1.

CiderJabs · 24/03/2024 16:45

For those of you who twisted it - did you find you had to push it harder when injecting it ?

NextPrimeMinister · 24/03/2024 17:09

@ObsidianTree

I'm planning on doing the same as you. I had hoped to stay on 2.5 for longer than 4 weeks but just got too hungry. My first 3 days on 5 have been very positive so far, but will see how it goes. I'll try to stay on 5 for at least another pen if possible.

oaode · 24/03/2024 17:28

I have now lost 8.7kg (19.3 lbs) in 18 days. . I am chuffed to bits as I started with a BMI of 68 and its now down to 65. As you can see I have reallya whole person to lose 😀but its bern a miracle so far.Even going shopping today where I wasn't tempted by any crap; no treats, no cakes, no crisps no pop!,Just bought some nuts for snacking. I have also done this without any exercise . So everybody please be encouraged. If some one as large as I can make significant progress in such a short time then there is hope for all off us yet

thank God. So the journey continues. ✈️
PS. I should be starting on the 5 mg dose next week

R4ch402 · 24/03/2024 17:30

BlackFriYay · 24/03/2024 15:54

Did you have to prime it before administering? I've only taken my 1st dose last week (2nd dose tomorrow) so I'm still getting to grips with it all, this thread is so helpful.

Yes I primed beforehand. I’ve done that before each dose.

Nope same pressure for me. It was exactly the same as usual.

Absolutely amazing loss. Chuffed for you.

Pigriver · 24/03/2024 15:20

@Choux honestly? I'd just take the next dose as normal. This has to be a lifestyle change so you need to learn how to manage events while eating less. I'm going away for a weekend abroad for my 10th anniversary without the kids and yes it would be lovely to eat and drink all of the things but I'm not going to. I'll have a bit and enjoy it but this has to be the new way.

I totally get your point but what I need to learn is how to manage events when not on Mounjaro. The first couple of days after taking my dose I have to push myself to eat 1,000 calories. If I turn up to celebrate Easter and then don't eat it's going to be obvious something is wrong and I don't want to tell them I'm on Mounjaro.

My friend I am staying with is super active - has a young, active dog, likes Parkrun, does yoga - so has a high metabolism although eats healthy food. I remember she made me a bowl of porridge last summer with fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts and seeds in it and it was so big I struggled to finish it when I was not on Mounjaro.

Today I am Day 4 after injecting Weds night and by 5.30pm I have eaten a salmon salad and three chocolates. I am just starting to think I might be ready to eat again. Turning up the day after injecting is not an option I would consider.

Someone suggested I stay on 2.5mg if it's having a good effect. I already have the 5mg pen from Bolt as I got a starter pack of two pens but I might consider staying on 2.5mg as 5mg might cut my appetite so much I wouldn't eat enough. I will see how the next week goes.

By the way MedExpress seem to be the cheapest @ £159
https://www.medexpress.co.uk/monolith-direct
I have changed to them from Boots; who are charging about £60 more (they do however prOvide some other perks which I don't really need)

MedExpress - UK Online Pharmacy - Over 500,000 Customers

That's fantastic. Well done. I did wonder if larger patients would need to get to the higher doses before really feeling the appetite suppression but clearly not. (I have no idea how Mounjaro works not that it does). Keep making healthy choices and be proud of taking tis step to change your life.

How wonderful. It sounds like it's going to completely change your life 👏🏻

@oaode That’s fantastic- I’m so pleased it’s working for you. Isn’t it amazing that there is a non invasive option to replace gastric surgery, will make such a difference to so many people. It’s exciting and I think this will bring huge benefits to the NHS and other healthcare systems under pressure.

Namechange25793 · 24/03/2024 17:52

I went to soft play today with kids so chose a half tuna sandwich with vegetable crudités for lunch (child portion).

Dinner is the second pork chop from yesterday’s packet, served with roast Mediterranean vegetables (very low calorie as I cut off the fat). Absolutely delicious and I feel stuffed! Forgotten how good pork tastes and it’s lean so a good choice.

OoohLovelySlippers · 24/03/2024 18:02

Hello all,

I hadn't heard about Boots apparently being in financial trouble but I'd frankly be STUNNED AND AMAZED if they went out of business. It's such a huge brand I'm sure someone would want it.

I'm going to try extracting the final dose in my 5mg pen with a 1mg needle. Will let you know how I get on.

ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 18:05

Amazing results @oaode :)

You're smashing it

RagzRebooted · 24/03/2024 18:05

@oaode that's brilliant, well done!

Today is going well, I'm not totally appetite suppressed but enough to make good choices and get full quicker, which is perfect. No desire to snack at all.
Made a protein shake with added banana, psyllium husk, peanut butter and oats this morning and gave half to DH as I couldn't finish it.
Lunch was ham, boiled egg and a piece of cheese (all weighed) as trying to get protein up.
Dinner will be pulled pork with potatoes (boiled baby ones, doing roasties for everyone else), roast parsnips/carrots, boiled carrots and steamed cabbage possibly broccoli too. So plenty of veg later.
I've allowed 1000 calories for dinner, as wasn't sure how many in the pork and gravy so I may end up a bit under my 1,500 target (I'm tall).

OoohLovelySlippers · 24/03/2024 19:03

YASSSS!! Great success with extracting the last dose from the pen.

Hold pen vertically with liquid running to bottom. Insert 1mm needle into end of pen. Withdraw liquid. Inject self.

Thanks to pp who mentioned doing this and gave me the idea.

ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 19:07

Great work @OoohLovelySlippers :)

@ObsidianTree thanks! i'd make an amazing junkie with my selection of needles and how keen I was to get shooting up tonight!!!

But yeah, at the end of the day, it's about £40 worth of drug so over the long term this will make a big difference to my purse.

cloudchaos · 24/03/2024 19:27

@Choux I would take it as normal. I was surprised how much less appetite suppression I had the 4th week on 2.5. Every other week I really felt it but this week I'm desperate to go up to 5. You might find it doesn't work as much for you this week as it's the last week on 2.5 (and I had some pretty big side effects the first two weeks).

Hello. Can I join all of you? I brought mine from Bolt on Friday, had to send them a picture later and now waiting for it to be processed. I'm a bit worried though as it seems so much cheaper than elsewhere as only £145.
I'm also scared about how this is going to change me, I love food and tbh it's my comfort. Firstly I'm worried it won't work but secondly I'm worried it will! Did anyone else feel scared about this life change? I know I need to do it as my bmi was 40!

Hi @Daisypod of course you can join us. First of all don't worry about your Bolt order. I got mine from there and it arrived and it's working.

It is a big change but if you have/ had a BMI of 40 it is a change for the better. If you keep using food as a comfort you will eventually give yourself long term health problems and they are best avoided. What the injections have done for me is drastically reduced the food thoughts I have. So I don't think of food as a treat or a crutch but it's fuel, something that does my body good and powers it. It's like liquid willpower - I can go shopping having eaten nothing for 7 hours and not even bother going down the aisles that contain my favourite treats. I feel like I've got a sense of inner peace so I don't need the comfort foods.

RunningAndSinging · 24/03/2024 21:00

I can still enjoy food - I just don’t feel compelled to eat chocolate until I feel sick anymore. A treat can be a treat and enjoyed for itself without leading to a binge. But also I can choose whether or not it is worth it more rationally now.

KeepingUndercover · 24/03/2024 21:01

I really fancied some mini eggs today so my DH brought some home. I ate a few and thought "that was really nice" then stopped. They are sat there still in an open bag and I'm happy for them to stay there until someone else eats them.
