Just taken my 4th 2.5mg injection. Looking forward to moving up to 5.0mg.
also I twisted my pen really hard and got another dose out of it. Given how expensive this medicine is I’m taking advantage of every last drop.

Hi everyone, I'm seriously considering Mounjaro. Where is the best place to order please and how long does each pen last. Will they prescribe if you have high blood pressure. It's linked to my weight, so I'd hope so.

The big pharmacies that you would know are Boots, Asda, superdrug. Asda is cheapest of the 3 but boots offer 10% off 2nd order blue boots points...so might work out cheaper /same as asda.

I'm not sure on other pharmacies but I have heard of Voy, pharmacy4u.

Cost wise, Asda works out about £186 a month with postage for first few months. Can't remember the next price up. Some of the unknown pharmacies are cheaper.

Each pen lasts 4 weeks, but there is enough for 5 doses in the first 2.5mg pen (not sure about 5mg pen) the 5th dose is hard to get out of the pen, but is usable.

Excellent, well done. Definitely makes a difference to the price.

@Choux I would take it now so that I could take the next dose without a big gap.

Can you tell your friends you are dieting so will be eating smaller portions? But hopefully if it wears off a bit by then so it won't be so obvious. Also could say you are saving yourself for big meals on Easter Sunday or something, then hopefully by Sunday you will be hungry enough to eat well!

I have been using Zava and they are £186.99 plus delivery. They seem efficient - no complaints. I have a £5 voucher if anyone wants to use it (they also give me £5 off if you use it).

The voucher code is: REFQAKJD

@DumpedByText you concern is valid re regaining the weight when stopping. Unfortunately the hunger etc will come back once off the meds so prone to weight gain. So some will be hoping to reset their eating habits so when the time comes they can switch to healthy eating and exercise to maintain. Some will plan to take a maintenance dose to keep the hunger at bay. I might end up trying to do a low dose every few weeks to help with maintenance when I get there. But will see what happens.

Hey. Still waiting the decision from second nature re: Mounjaro, but am so so eager to get started! Have spent the weekend following this thread, watching tiktoks from people on it, learning all the tips and tricks and I've just bought collagen and vitamins at Tesco.
Hopefully I'll have it by Wednesday!

ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 13:52

@Thebaldprimadonna I am wondering if I should switch to Zava as asda use them anyway. I might look into it.

ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 13:58

Just look at Zava and it's roughly same price as Asda as they charge 7.99 for postage. So will probably stick with Asda!

Well done @R4ch402 for getting that last dose out!

Good luck @JanetSnakeholeMacklin. I remember being like you and reading the Wegovy thread and deciding to go for it! So exciting!

I also put in an order for collagen to add to my supplement collection :)

This is probably a stupid question, but did you just twist it hard the usual way, or is there some interesting trickery involved? I'd like to use the last bit and was gonna do 5mg as last dose, but I think I will do second after 4 days. I seem to have got seven needles with my box.

Soukmyfalafel · 24/03/2024 14:57

I'm not sure how I will go when I come off MJ. If I am gaining quick I might just have a reset week every few weeks at a low dose if I am gaining (if a box will last over a few months). I am hoping that I get into better habits and just eat better so I don't have to, so that if my portion sizes creep up there is better stuff in it and less impact. I am going to try and stick to half a plate salad or veg for all meals, so less carbs.

I wasn't really a problem eater before in terms of what I ate (im not an eat a whole pack of biscuits in one sitting person), but I had big portions, ate quick and always had to clear my plate even when full. I hope I end up getting in the habit of slowing down so I don't mind myself over full like I did before.

I think the good thing about MJ is you have the headspace to think about these things on a diet rather than just feeling hungry. Not sure if anyone else is finding the same?

ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 15:12

@Soukmyfalafel I worry about the hunger coming back with a vengeance! I will probably work my way backwards with doses once I'm ready to start maintaining, then when I get back to 2.5mg I think I might try and leave gaps of a week, then 2 weeks, and hope I can get to the point where I can stop! But who knows! I am willing to stay on a low dose long term if it means I keep my weight loss! (When I get there!)

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 24/03/2024 15:17

I have been doing reading on whether to go up to 7.5mg and it seems Americans try to stay on lower doses for as long as possible. Because if you get to the highest dose and stall, then you have nowhere else to go. So if you stay on the smaller doses until you stall, then go up, you are more likely to lose more weight in long run.

I am not sure what I will do. I was pretty sure I was going to go up to 7.5mg, but now I think I will see how I feel when I have 1 dose of 5mg left. If I feel it's running out after a few days, then I will go up. If it's lasting most of the week, I will stay on 5mg.

What are others thoughts on this?

Pigriver · 24/03/2024 15:20

@Choux honestly? I'd just take the next dose as normal. This has to be a lifestyle change so you need to learn how to manage events while eating less. I'm going away for a weekend abroad for my 10th anniversary without the kids and yes it would be lovely to eat and drink all of the things but I'm not going to. I'll have a bit and enjoy it but this has to be the new way.

MiniCooperLover · 24/03/2024 15:20

For those asking about electrolytes I was in Sainsbury's earlier and there was a big display of hydration salts called LiquidIV. I bought a pack of 7 and have had 1, it tastes ok (Lemon & Lime flavour) and if it helps with muscle fatigue and extra vitamins all the better.

Itsmeamandaberry · 24/03/2024 15:50

I had my 3rd injection on Thursday lost a total of 8lbs. Don't know how happy I should be with that? Might have been a 1-2lbs more but it's the TOTM 😩

Exitstrategist · 24/03/2024 15:53

Hi- I used quite a lot of force to twist again (similar to opening a jar) and managed to force it back to 1….

BlackFriYay · 24/03/2024 15:54

R4ch402 · 24/03/2024 15:38

Not a stupid question at all as it was tricky. I used a jar opener to clamp the end and then twisted it until I got to 1 again. I didn’t have the strength to use my hand but if you have a strong person to help you could probably do it by hand.

the opener I used looks like this one. I used the top bit.

Did you have to prime it before administering? I've only taken my 1st dose last week (2nd dose tomorrow) so I'm still getting to grips with it all, this thread is so helpful.

StressyMessyJess · 24/03/2024 16:08

Hi I'm starting this week, probably Friday as I'd like strongest effects over the weekend.
I'm really nervous about getting the injection wrong. Is the UK pen complicated to use, I'm easily confused!
Thanks
