Today I've had

Greek yogurt with a scoop of protein powder and some raspberries
Salad with ham cheese and egg
Half an Indian takeaway - chicken tikka pathia and mushroom rice
2 litres of water so far and a wispa

I'm doing a night shift tonight but shouldn't need anything to eat later. I'll take a protein shake just in case

Thebaldprimadonna · 22/03/2024 19:14

Today, I've had a latte, a (generous) vegetable chilli wrap with salad and a slice of homemade banana bread.

I am having a glass of red wine to welcome the weekend but it's yet to be finished after an hour and 20 mins (not typical pre-MJ!). The banana loaf would also have had a serious hammering pre-MJ, but one slice was delicious and enough 👍🏻

Another big change in my eating is that I really don't fancy meat much. Has anyone else had that? I wonder if it's the fat content? We don't have chicken at home much as one of my kids can't tolerate it, but I'd normally pop mince, pork etc in a shop.

Yeah I’m finding it quite hard going. This is an opportunity to reset and start eating really well, to learn what a portion should look like etc.

Personally, and I will probably get flamed for this but i think all the talk of spreading out doses etc is quite dangerous too tbh. The pen isn’t designed for that, it’s not been tested for that. Is a half dose of 10mg actually the same as 5mg in terms of potency? Or are you actually not getting enough volume of the liquid for it to properly be administered? I’m not a chemist or a pharmacist, but it doesn’t sound like many of you are either. This desperate chat makes you sound like addicts, it’s really odd.

It is because the drug is so expensive - but you are right people are going off piste and something could go wrong with misunderstood discussion of this. The safest thing to do is to follow the prescription, turn the dial until it hits 1 once a week for four weeks and throw the rest away.

However the temptation is going to be there to use the ‘fifth dose’ or count clicks to get more value out of each pen. Anyone doing it needs to be confident that they know what they are doing with the dosages and with sub cutaneous injections. I can’t believe the volume of liquid matters - it all gets absorbed into the bloodstream anyway - but please don’t take that as professional advice because it isn’t.

I’ve been digging through my recipe books for some good options, the Hairy Dieters books are fab as most meals 300-500 kcals and not heavy on the carbs, not any of that slimming world style nonsense making versions of stuff out of weird ingredients, just balanced meals.

Wonkypictureframe · 22/03/2024 19:30

The Hairy Bikers stuff is great. We’ve cooked out of it for years.

I totally agree on feeling uncomfortable with all the talk of weird dosing. And also see these jabs as a chance to calibrate for myself what the right portion size is. I’m finding that it has magically taken away all my inclination to eat the sort of food I would ‘treat’ myself too, so I don’t feel deprived of it. But I think just not eating sounds really worrying and won’t help build sustainable healthy eating habits.

I am a dreadful meal skipper at the best of times so am conscious that appetite suppressing won’t help on that! Dinner tonight is freekeh, mushrooms, spinach and yoghurt (Green Roasting Tin recipe) but I’m adding a pork chop as it’s very low on protein.

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 19:32

It's great to get some meal ideas.

Good idea of looking through recipe books. I have loads I don't use enough so will look for some inspiration!

I've been working on trying to drink lots of water this week and have been managing 3ltrs a day since I started.

I think we should leave the discussion about splitting doses here. I have been talking about it a lot but will stop as its making people feel uncomfortable. I got the idea from reading on facebook about people splitting Wegovy doses so I didn't think it was dangerous. They even have click charts etc. But I won't mention it anymore!

Fecking ASDA!!!

I was 15st when I started Ozempic and now 11st so they won't prescribe MJ even though I'm still at least 1st overweight for my height)

Just received this message:

Thank you for requesting weight loss treatment with us and completing our assessment. I have reviewed your details. Unfortunately we are unable to treat you on this occasion as you don’t meet the minimum weight threshold to start this treatment with us (even if you are continuing treatment started elsewhere).

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 19:38

Oh no. That's annoying @OoohLovelySlippers. Can you still get ozempic or is that not an option anymore?

Day 3 (first dose just over 48 hours ago). Not feeling a hugely suppressed appetite, but I am noticing something and it is definitely easier to say no to things. Work was full of treats and I didn't touch them. I don't eat breakfast on weekdays anyway, but I wasn't hungry at all until lunchtime and only ate then because it was sensible, not because I was ravenous.
Lunch: 2x brown toast with half a tin of beans. Protein yogurt.
Dinner: 2x chicken fajitas with lettuce, salsa and a tiny bit of cheese and soured cream.
1360 calories - amazing for me, actually, so I guess it is working. Just need to avoid the wine tonight.

I will stop mentioning pen/dosing shenanigans, sorry. I'm a nurse and fiddling with this stuff doesn't phase me! I'll keep that talk to Reddit 😉

FlappyFish · 22/03/2024 19:49

I won’t split doses. I extracted the last dose of the 2.5 pen because it’s expensive and I won’t throw a slightly worn t-shirt away, let alone medication that is costing nearly £200 a month.

I am not trying to avoid eating. I have just shared how moving up to 5 has made me feel.

Stay well and hydrated all.

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 19:50

I think it can be a slow build @RagzRebooted . So you're doing great so far.

Is there a UK dedicated Mornjaro page? I am on the American one but they obv have a different set up etc.

Your day sounds delish !

izzy2076 · 22/03/2024 20:07

I'm in my second week. I'm slightly more hungry after double dosing on the first week but that's fine. I'm eating normal foods (but healthier) but having about a third of what I normally eat ie: handful of school chips with half a Pret salad that I couldn't eat. Quarter of a scone, jam and cream from my husbands plate. I want to eat still but I can't eat much.

I'm down 4 kilos since I started. Insomnia still a shit show but everything else is great. Loads of energy and strangely focussed! Oh and vaping less.

Im going to do another month on 2.5 as it's working fine and I want to take this slowly.

izzy2076 · 22/03/2024 20:09

Just realised chips, scone etc isn't healthy but the fact I'm eating such small portions of the unhealthy stuff is in itself healthy!

RagzRebooted · 22/03/2024 20:18

@izzy2076 I think I'm vaping less too! I don't want to give up yet, but I do want to cut down so that's an added bonus.
I've definitely felt more awake this afternoon, I didn't get the mid afternoon slump which was quite magical.

BourbonD · 22/03/2024 20:19

Done my first injection tonight. Went ok so I am encouraged. Keen to be as healthy as possible, any tips? I was looking at flavourless protein powder for example, considering adding it to my water (I don’t like fruit flavoured things!). Has anyone noticed any other positive changes it has brought? I have PCOS and diagnosed insulin resistance. Hoping it will help with that.

It's ok I'll stick with boots even tho ordering from them is an ordeal with their shit website

Haha revealed my name change

Pigriver · 22/03/2024 20:37

I think it is very easy to slip into disordered eating when the cravings to eat just aren't there.
I'm doing this as a reset and whenever I am tempted I remind myself I'm detoxing sugar and I never realised how much if what I eat was empty carbs (thanks slimming world).

My daily menu is (I'm a creature of habit)

Protein shake with greek yoghurt, banana, almond butter and berries, spoon of flax

Nice Tomato soup, multi grain rice cakes

Mid afternoon nutty protein bar

A small portion of a regular dinner but avoiding heavy pasta/rice dishes and having more veg.

Fave snack is sliced apple dipped in almond butter.

Gym 4 times a week, 2 classes 2 gym sessions
Daily electrolytes and 2L water.

It's so expensive that I feel if I just stop eating and lose quickly I will have learned nothing and put it all back on when I stop. I am actively trying to restrain my brain and my palate.

Soukmyfalafel · 22/03/2024 20:41

I've had an OK day. Tend to catch up on eating in the evening and had a lovely glass of wine tonight. I've been ill and usually eat more with a cold, but have managed to stay on track, but havent been able to exercise. Has anyone ordered their second month pen through Asda yet? Do they ask for weight and photos again? I'm confused with how it works and will probably stick with Asda but it seems you have to do form again, so not sure if i am doing it right. I'm on week 2 but want to order next week in case of possible delays.

Nice to hear everyone is doing well on this and no crazy side effects reported yet.

I'm at the same stage as you and feel similar.
The food noise has definitely stopped. For the 1st time in maybe forever I can tell the difference between being hungry and thirsty.
And where I'd usually trough down something tasty (completely ignoring the fact that I was full), I can actually hear the you're full signal clearly and just stop.
I really hope this continues

@OoohLovelySlippers

I wondered this as I got the first dose on a 50% off offer. I now want to switch to another supplier so I wondered what happens if you fall below the obese BMI in the meantime (although not likely for me in just 4 weeks!). I guess once I'm then with a different supplier will have to stay there to the end so don't run into this.

If you can afford it (yet more cost!) I would go see a private doctor. You could always email them before making an appointment to check if they would be open to prescribing this for you so you can continue your GLP-1 agonist treatment (as that covers both Ozempic and Mounjaro) until no longer overweight. Bring evidence of your previous prescriptions etc.

You could also try another supplier like Bolt or MedExpress. If you can provide evidence of your starting weight that would help.

BlackFriYay · 22/03/2024 21:10

Day 4 for me after injecting my first 2.5 on Tuesday.

I'm still getting really hungry but I find it a lot easier to avoid snacking whereas before MJ I would be grazing all throughout the day. I'm not sure if there's any actual appetite suppression going on yet, I don't feel like there is really, but what I have got is a hell of a lot of will power because it costs too much money not to give it my all 😐

Something small but positive I have noticed which is helping me is - once I eat it leaves me satiated for alot longer than before, so the urge to go and raid the biscuit tin straight after dinner isn't there.

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 21:13

I was just checking my fitbit app and was just randomly looking at my resting heart rate and it's gone up about 10bpm since starting mounjaro! How weird! Hope it's not a bad thing!

Continuing Mounjaro... Part 2

I suspect from seeing several 'application questionnaires' that some of the pharmacies are run by a third party on behalf of ASDA etc and the names of the doctors seem to overlap. I wonder whether ASDA could see that you were trying to order from two sources at the same time (my understanding of your post yesterday)? They might have a flag for that and be erring on the side of caution.
