@Thebaldprimadonna Just getting a couple of pounds off has been seriously hard work this week. I've lost count of how many kitkats I've eaten 🫣.

Hopefully we will get back on track this week and see some losses from the 5mg dose.

Good luck 🤞🏼

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 10:14

@FlappyFish do you have spare needles for the pen? Could you divide your 5mg doses and twist the pen half way? Saves you money by not having to reorder the 2.5mg pen.

First week and 2lbs down (then went to the loo for first time in days so maybe add to that!)
I'm almost disappointed but remind myself it isn't a therapeutic dose and I haven't dieted at all. I've had some chocolate, sweets, wine and eaten out twice. I've been full sooner and actually left some food. So that is 2lbs purely from increased satiety/loss of appetite and subsequent reduction in intake and not from consciously making any effort. So in reality it's the easiest 2lb I've ever lost.
We're away next week Monday to Friday but self catering, so I plan to do the same but be a little more conscious of making healthy choices.

I’ve just weighed in and I’ve lost 3lb in my second week so that’s 10lb in two weeks. Only side effect is a dry mouth but that’s helping me drink lots of water so not necessarily a bad thing.
8 weeks until my holiday and my goal was 2 stone off by then, not sure if I can lose 18lb in 8 weeks but I’ll try my best.

BigBessie · 22/03/2024 10:44

End of first week here.

I have weighed everyday watching the numbers decrease, and if my scales are to be believed I have lost 13lbs this week??
I do seem to have gone down a size in jeans but it doesn't seem possible. Although I have eaten very little except protein shakes and have done spin x 2 , pilates x 2 , yoga x 2 and body pump this week.
Even if it is all water weight it has kept me motivated!
No alcohol has been a game changer for me as I do normally have quite a bit of wine in week so just that in itself is a massive win. I love not feeling hungry all the time. I normally pick all day WFH and then when I'm in the office I get involved in the constant stream of birthday cakes and celebration pastries.
A weird one , I have gone off the taste of tap water and have been buying mineral water instead. Not sure what that's all about

Goal weight 10st

Week 2 here we come ...

Good luck with our continuing journeys and thanks again for this great thread. I wouldn't have been here with you

Wonkypictureframe · 22/03/2024 10:54

That’s an amazing weight loss in a week but why are you only eating protein shakes? Is the thought of food tricky?

RagzRebooted · 22/03/2024 10:58

@BigBessie that's brilliant progress, especially all the exercise you've done that's really impressive. I keep promising myself I'll use my exercise bike...

I have eaten one mini meal a day : chicken breast strips, spinach and mushrooms with a couple of spoonfuls of low fat creme fraiche and a sprinkle of hot smoked paprika.

My appetite ha s virtually completely gone , although I feel a bit hungrier today

I know this isn't sustainable so I'm not sure how this is going to pan out

Choux · 22/03/2024 11:51

Congrats to all those seeing serious losses even on 2.5mg. I am at the end of week 2 and, due to a holiday and trying to hide that my appetite was suppressed, did not lose anything in week 2. Am still 4lb down since I started and I'm super keen to get back on the healthy choices now though.

I ordered from Bolt and got these needles with my order (only 4 though so no spares). They aren't Mounjaro brand and seem to be widely sold online for insulin pens so in theory people could move up to say a 10mg pen and then use extra needles and count the clicks to get 10 x 5mg doses from the pen. (you may need a syringe to get the final doses if the pen sticks after the plunger reaches the last mark on the vial). That would mean it costs around £25 a week.

Continuing Mounjaro... Part 2
RagzRebooted · 22/03/2024 12:11

@Choux this is what I'm planning to do, stay on each dose longer but order the next one up. Though 7.5mg will be a pain as can't get a 10mg without having that first, I assume

Fingers crossed. I am actually still finding that I am eating far less and sweets etc are much less tempting, but the scales are not shifting. I have noticed that clothes are fitting better, however, so hopefully that will soon show up on the scales 🙏

Annettekurtin · 22/03/2024 13:18

hi all.

I started a weight loss plan but it was going so slowly I decided to try Mounjaro so i don’t get bored and give up. On my third injection.

so far I have lost 42 lbs but 60lbs more to go.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 22/03/2024 16:11

Thanks for the welcome, and I've enjoyed reading your updates!
I'm hoping I can start in the Easter holidays as I'm a teacher and it means I can gauge the side effects before I'm back at work.

What do I need before getting started? I see a few of you have mentioned electrolytes - any particular recommendations?

I haven't told my husband or anything either - he'll worry. I'm wondering how I can keep the syringe pen thing in the fridge without him noticing. Maybe put it in a plastic tub and disguise with the rolls of film I keep in the fridge or something? 😬 Once I've lost some weight I'll tell him, but I want to see how it affects me first. Any tips on how to keep it secret will also be helpful!

zaffa · 22/03/2024 16:55

Hey everyone!
Week one done, I've lost 7 pounds! (Although I weighed in jeans last week and leggings this week).
I'm due my second injection tonight and I am so so so hungry - it's really highlighted how well the medicine has been working all week really!
Everyone mentioning stock shortages - has anyone ordered 5mg from them? Wondering if I should order now

AgathaMystery · 22/03/2024 17:19

Has anyone noticed a shift on these threads in recent days? I am reading some posts on here that are basically disordered eating. This isn’t something I feel particularly vulnerable to, but others might.

I have noticed a definite shift.

I just wondered if anyone else felt similarly?

NCfor24 · 22/03/2024 17:32

@AgathaMystery I've noticed it but I think it's maybe just a couple of individuals. I think really the advantage of switching off the food noise and hunger is to allow us to make healthy choices as opposed to having to fight cravings, but maybe some are using it as a way to avoid eating.
I'm not abstaining from food at all but I am now thinking I need to plan what to eat so I don't think "oh, there's nothing I fancy"... I've been eating fruit and fibre for lunch not for any reason other than it's easy and it's there and it's not unhealthy per se. I need to prepare a nutritious option really! I'm not tempted to skip meals at all because ultimately I can't afford to be on this for too long and I want to learn to eat sensibly, healthily and normal size portions.

Onedaylikethi5 · 22/03/2024 17:48

Yeah I’m finding it quite hard going. This is an opportunity to reset and start eating really well, to learn what a portion should look like etc.

Personally, and I will probably get flamed for this but i think all the talk of spreading out doses etc is quite dangerous too tbh. The pen isn’t designed for that, it’s not been tested for that. Is a half dose of 10mg actually the same as 5mg in terms of potency? Or are you actually not getting enough volume of the liquid for it to properly be administered? I’m not a chemist or a pharmacist, but it doesn’t sound like many of you are either. This desperate chat makes you sound like addicts, it’s really odd.

Onedaylikethi5 · 22/03/2024 17:50

Also stock shortages are in the US/Canada and it’s the pens they use there not the drug itself.

Namechange25793 · 22/03/2024 18:03

yes @AgathaMystery I’ve noticed some concerning posts, but I genuinely think it’s people getting used to it.

What I’ve eaten today for balance…

Porridge with milk
Banana
Coffee with lots of full fat milk

Broccoli and cheddar soup
Thin bagel with butter
Satsuma
3 cups of tea

Fish fillet
Potatoes
Peas

Later….
Decaf coffee with milk
Decaf tea

All under 1500 calories and very healthy

Yes I agree. I’m not comfortable with this either- it’s really not appropriate for a prescribed medication. I think it’s dangerous advice.

Choux · 22/03/2024 18:44

Sounds delicious @Namechange25793. Bonus points if you made the soup - I sometimes make a big batch and freeze portions ready for when I have no time to cook.

Today I have eaten

Coffee and two scrambled eggs

Harissa spiced tuna salad with couscous and lentils

6 pork gyoza with a soy and vinegar dipping sauce

Later I will have a chicken salad with avocado and possibly a yoghurt if I need it.

Should be 1,200 calories.

NCfor24 · 22/03/2024 18:46

People posting their menus is actually really helpful! I'm going to buy some nice salad bits I think and some cold meats/fish so I can have some decent lunches.

HanSB · 22/03/2024 18:50

First time posting as I only just discovered this thread because of the spelling error in the title post!

I’m on first dose of 5mg and not had any side effects so far, I mix a tbs of chia seeds in a pint of water along with electrolytes in the morning to start the day and help keep regular. Appetite has reduced and trying to eat 2 nutritionally balanced meals a day with enough protein (going by 0.8xgoal weight).

I have been reading all this talk of the extra dose in the pen and it makes sense to use this but using a higher dose pen for smaller doses I think would be unsafe as the pen is only meant to last 21-30 days after first use - surely there is an expiration date from manufacturer for a reason

Onedaylikethi5 · 22/03/2024 18:50

Today I’ve had:

yogurt granola and berries and grapes

A sandwich thin veggie sausage sarnie

chicken breast, courgette and mushrooms in a sauce made from a spoon of pesto and some soft cheese. With roasted cauliflower on the side.

will probably have a passion fruit later.

2.5mg dose 3 due Sunday.

Your chicken sounds yummy!

I had coffee first thing, then full fat Greek yoghurt and berries late morning, chicken salad and Parmesan later afternoon. I had some toast when I got in from work and will probably have some cold chicken from the fridge once the kids are in bed. I’m exhausted and can’t be bothered to do a proper dinner for me 😂 will do better tomorrow.
