@OoohLovelySlippers what is your BMI? Asda only prescribe for over 30. Mine was 30 when I started with juniper but is now just below and I got this message.

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 21:13

I was just checking my fitbit app and was just randomly looking at my resting heart rate and it's gone up about 10bpm since starting mounjaro! How weird! Hope it's not a bad thing!

@ObsidianTree
Increased heart rate is a known side effect for Mounjaro.

ON THE QUESTION: TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT ?
If I don't feel hungry I don't eat now ! Most days i just feel like eating once and then have some nuts to stave of any hunger pangs, which are nearly non existent now.
The aim is to continue this way until I reach half my goal weight. Then start to be more disciplined in having 3 small meals a day

R4ch402 · 22/03/2024 23:25

I’ve been addicted to fizzy drinks for most of my adult life. And since I’ve been taking MJ I’ve had a 2 litre bottle of 7Up in the fridge that is not even 3/4 finished. I don’t even crave carbonated drinks anymore. In fact I'm going to throw it away.

I suspect from seeing several 'application questionnaires' that some of the pharmacies are run by a third party on behalf of ASDA etc and the names of the doctors seem to overlap. I wonder whether ASDA could see that you were trying to order from two sources at the same time (my understanding of your post yesterday)? They might have a flag for that and be erring on the side of caution.

Thanks but I think that's giving them too much credit. I'm not currently fat enough, end of story! (Not a sentence I thought I'd ever write!)

Well, that's a win!

@OoohLovelySlippers

I wondered this as I got the first dose on a 50% off offer. I now want to switch to another supplier so I wondered what happens if you fall below the obese BMI in the meantime (although not likely for me in just 4 weeks!). I guess once I'm then with a different supplier will have to stay there to the end so don't run into this.

If you can afford it (yet more cost!) I would go see a private doctor. You could always email them before making an appointment to check if they would be open to prescribing this for you so you can continue your GLP-1 agonist treatment (as that covers both Ozempic and Mounjaro) until no longer overweight. Bring evidence of your previous prescriptions etc.

You could also try another supplier like Bolt or MedExpress. If you can provide evidence of your starting weight that would help.

Thanks. It's ok, I was intending to "double dose" by buying from 2 pharmacies as I've switched directly from 2.4mg and cba working my way back up slowly. (Indeed I'm pretty hungry on 5mg!)

I think I'll just "white knuckle" it over the next couple of months til I'm back up at a "proper" dose. Then I can stay there indefinitely. I still think the switch was worth it, MJ is cheaper and more effective than Oz/Wegovy. So I'm playing the long game.

My BMI is about 27. (11st at 5ft 2)
So I'm hardly fading away!
It would be ok if I was an existing customer but because I was new, they basically said I wasn't fat enough, lol!!!

Moanranger · 22/03/2024 23:47

I have been reading this thread with interest. About 3 years ago I started with Saxenda & then switched to Ozempic. I lost about 6-7 kilos, mainly on Saxenda. On both drugs I felt tired and lethargic. The worst was Ozempic - I felt really depressed, anxious & could have easily spent all day in bed. I only lasted 2 weeks on Ozempic, and came to the conclusion that these drugs were not for me.
My question is - has anyone had similar problems with Mounjaro? I haven’t spotted any posts to this effect. I am seriously considering giving it a go, but would appreciate any feedback before I take the plunge.TIA

You’re slightly overweight with mild health risks. Weight loss drugs are not appropriate.

Choux · 23/03/2024 00:20

@OoohLovelySlippers do you have any other health issues. Some pharmacies will prescribe if over 27 with weight related comorbidities. For example this is the Bolt consultation:

Do you have any of the following conditions:
• Diabetes/Prediabetes
• High Blood Pressure
• High Cholesterol
• Asthma / COPD
• PCOS
• Obstructive sleep apnea
• Low mood associated with your weight.

The presence of any of the above conditions means you might be suitable for treatment with a lower minimum BMI of 27

RottingInBed · 23/03/2024 00:23

Thanks @peachgreen or is that Dr Peach Green? Boots Pharmacy disagree with you.

RottingInBed · 23/03/2024 00:26

Thanks @Choux
Nope I'm perfectly healthy. Planning to stay that way by losing the extra stone or so. It's ok I pick up my next boots pen tomorrow. As long as that's ok with peach green who seems to think as soon as you are no longer obese you should quit weight loss injections. And put the weight back on. What do they say about yo-yo dieting being bad for health? I'll be on this the rest of my life.

Femeia · 23/03/2024 00:34

Really interesting reading the stories and successes here, for me it's been much slower. Moving onto 5mg in the morning and hoping it does the trick. HOWEVER I have just realised I can't remember when I last ate crisps or biscuits. Now that has to be a good thing as I was a real crisp monster previously. So even if I still feel hungry with this, something is helping me to avoid bad choices (mostly - I've had an occasional glass of wine). Maybe it's just the thought of the cost of this and desperately trying not to fail, who knows.
Weighing in tomorrow after 4 weeks and hoping it's not just the 2-3lb loss I'd been at last week.

Namechange25793 · 23/03/2024 00:35

I’d say it’s better to stick with one provider if you can, to ensure your long term supply as well as continuity of care.

I plan to stick with Asda, they’ve been great so far.

I also considered Second Nature who have NHS contracts- more expensive but they provide nutritional and health coaching to sustain the changes. They have impressive results in NHS evaluation - they’re the best performing provider out of 5:

Obviously more expensive but worth it if you need the extra support.

Pharmacy 2U have been fab so far, you can usually find a discount code. Quick review, swift postage. Plan to stick with them.

Exitstrategist · 23/03/2024 07:39

Hi for those of you thinking of going up to 5 a week later I can confirm that with some brute force you can twist the knob again and get the rest out with same needle. Game changer. I am unapologetic for doing this considering the cost.

Thanks for the welcome, and I've enjoyed reading your updates!
I'm hoping I can start in the Easter holidays as I'm a teacher and it means I can gauge the side effects before I'm back at work.

What do I need before getting started? I see a few of you have mentioned electrolytes - any particular recommendations?

I haven't told my husband or anything either - he'll worry. I'm wondering how I can keep the syringe pen thing in the fridge without him noticing. Maybe put it in a plastic tub and disguise with the rolls of film I keep in the fridge or something? 😬 Once I've lost some weight I'll tell him, but I want to see how it affects me first. Any tips on how to keep it secret will also be helpful!

Mine’s wrapped in kitchen roll in the salad drawer in the fridge. Mine doesn’t really cook so doesn’t venture in there. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated once first dose done though.
I was already cc so the I’m in a diet I’m not eating that aspect hasn’t been an issue.

I've got meal replacement shakes to have when I'm not hungry. Since they're formulated as a total meal replacement they have 1/4 of a days vitamins and minerals and around 200 calories. Seems like a sensible compromise and better than skipping meals.
I once lost 4st in 4 months doing total meal replacement but of course it's gradually come back on. I still think the shakes are a useful tool sometimes but I really want MJ to teach me portion control and stopping when full and to be a sustainable loss. I want to lose weight once and for all.

yes @AgathaMystery I’ve noticed some concerning posts, but I genuinely think it’s people getting used to it.

What I’ve eaten today for balance…

Porridge with milk
Banana
Coffee with lots of full fat milk

Broccoli and cheddar soup
Thin bagel with butter
Satsuma
3 cups of tea

Fish fillet
Potatoes
Peas

Later….
Decaf coffee with milk
Decaf tea

All under 1500 calories and very healthy

Edited

That sounds nice and is very much how I’m approaching it. 3 healthy meals, lots of protein. It’s the extra snacks I’ve dropped.

Investinmyself · 23/03/2024 07:54

I’m week 2 and been away a couple of days. I’ve just taken it very easy in term of food (asked for box for my un eaten pizza last night which I’ve never done before) and had a few alcoholic drinks but drank slowly. I feel fine today.

MuthaHubbard · 23/03/2024 08:02

End of week 4 for me and no loss this week - maintained a loss of 14lbs in total. I am v happy with my first month 😊
Being honest most of this week has felt more like ive been in a 'maintenance' phase - no huge hunger, but ready to eat at times and still able to stop when full. There has been a couple of times when I've thought 'oh I'm going to have a ferrero or two with my coffee ' so I have - up side being I've stopped at two and not 8.
Needle ready to extract the extra today and 5mg is in fridge ready for next week. I'm hoping 5 is going to be my sweet spot and stay there for a while

I haven't registered posts like that here. I also like following Reddit - it might be worth doing looking on there for Mourjano and Zepbound as they have tens of thousands of followers and you can filter by side effects.

ChristmasLightsLover · 23/03/2024 08:32

@MuthaHubbard Well done on having two rather than eight chocolates! Cant remember how to spell fsrerererero Roche ;))

Just did my fourth injection at 2.5mg. Have applied for the 5mg with Boots.

I've definitely eaten more food this week. But nowhere near what I have done previously. I have the coil and a truckload of HRT so I don't bleed. But still have hormonal variance and I feel as though it could be that.

My win for week is that I have started walking. I've done a mile most days and am tracking it on Strava. Longer walk tomorrow with a friend. Feels good to be tackling this from all angles.

SW 124 - 126 kg
CW 119.8 kg.

I'm so pleased to get under 120. Now to get to 115. Maybe today's walk could be a bit longer... will keep me away from food and a teenager who doesn't want to revise.

ChristmasLightsLover · 23/03/2024 08:33

@Moanranger I am definitely tired. But I don't know that it's the injection. I've started out with very few calories as I wasn't hungry. Now I'm eating a little more so have more energy. Could be related. Or could be all in my head!
