Husband dislikes my mother of the bride dress choices, am I wrong?

Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

Here are my thoughts!

I'm not too sure the dress suits you, and it's not traditional to wear black to a wedding. HOWEVER, not every wedding is traditional.

You can wear what makes you feel good!

They're not the right fit for you and they're too wintery for a spring wedding.

I think you could do a lot better OP and I agree with PPs about the colour.

A bright or a pastel would be much better imo.

You wear exactly what you want to wear! MOB dresses are traditionally quite conservative, not bodycon (but again, any woman who wants that style should go for it).
Thought it was bad enough to read posts where brides are dictating what guests should wear-not it's FOBs!

The only time I've ever seen a MOTB dressed anything like that, she got the desired response. If you want to make it perfectly clear that you disapprove of the groom and are mourning this unwise marriage, go for it. Otherwise, brighten it up!

( In that respect the MOTB was spot on, by the way. I can confirm from later personal experience that he was a very nasty piece of work. The marriage lasted, though.)

The ibe with the bow in the back looks lively at the back, as does your hat. It's not flattering from the front, though.
I think it is mire a case if not fitting you properly. Take it to a very good seamstress of tailor and it will likely be altered to be more flattering. Take your pics first for advice and cost.

How old are you op and how tall? I think the dresses age you considerably, are too long and do nothing for your figure. Maybe a better bra would help as well or perhaps it’s because the dresses swamp you? Those necklines are for someone with big boobs.

They look a little hard to wear, I think - like you'd be uncomfortable in them through the day... and with a long dress and a hat, it can be easy to look like an audience member from 'The Good Old Days'...

I bet you could look a lot more gorgeous and stylish, and I bet your DH thinks that too! A lighter colour might flatter your lovely colouring better, and also mean that you don't get 'lost' in the photos among the dark suits. The dress is out there, keep looking!

I concur with the majority here - the outfits you’ve shown would make you look really unnecessarily dowdy and un-joyful on the day. They’re a bit ‘Funeral in Narnia’.

Look for the sort of outfit you’d enjoy wearing for any other grand spring celebration - without the dreaded, style free words ‘Mother of the Bride’ attached.

If your heart is set on the first dress you posted, the website where I found the below dress also has the first dress in a paler blue. Perhaps get some shapewear, try on a smaller size and ask if they can alter it to fit better.

Otherwise why not stick to a line if that suits your body shape? This is a little brighter and a line and is lifted with a pale hat.

Late to the party but I’m also team husband. Did I read it right that you’ve lost 9 stone? If so that’s a fantastic achievement but I wonder if you’re dressing for your old size, not your fabulous new figure? (You have a great figure either way).

For a spring wedding I’d be going for something lighter in colour and floatier. MOB stuff from wedding shops always looks like scaffolding in fabric form to me, all fussy and rigid.

Wedding harpist here. I agree with your husband too, they’re not flattering. For a spring wedding you’ll want something a brighter. What about something like this? My phase eight dress is so flattering.
