Husband dislikes my mother of the bride dress choices, am I wrong?

Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

When you go to London book a fitting at Bravissimo or if you want to push the budget a bit, visit Rigby and Peller, they are amazing. Your DD might like to get some new underwear too!

You'll feel fabulous with a good bra and some shapewear and it totally changes how a dress sits and looks on your body. Losing a lot of weight definitely takes a while to get used to and to adjust to your new shape, especially if there is still some wobbly bits from loose skin. Well done on 9kg lost that's very impressive.

Im in my early sixties and I would definitely wear that dress. I have a few dresses from this brand. It’s a bit out of focus there but it’s blossom on a tree, yes. I am tallish but not “stick” thin, and I think most sizes can carry off this style.
I wasn’t suggesting that the op would love this specific dress, just that there are lots of more joyful and colourful options out there.

Love navy but not that dress. Agree with PP you are trying to cover up too much. Well done on your weight loss, you look great. Choose something that flatters, not drowns.
And the hat is nice.

They are too dark for a spring wedding, and although they look expensive they are
not super flattering.

Get yourself down to Phase Eight. You'll find lovely sophisticated floral dresses £50-100.

You've got a nice figure, don't hide it away in poorly fitting dresses.

The first one is nice. It shows off your figure very well.

The dresses aren’t very flattering but I think it’s the length. They either need to be full length or shorter.

It does nothing for you. As MOB you need to stand out and this does not stand out for good reasons, the front and back should not be on the same dress.

Please get your colour done from your hair you look like a spring. These outfits are not great

The cut of the first one is good but the colour is not doing you any favours and is not appropriate for the season. It would look lovely in a pale gold or a sage green, and you could go brighter at that time of year.

Really sorry but he’s right . They don’t show off your lovely figure and are a bit frumpy. I was MOB last year - there’s so many beautiful choices of style & colour out there , I’m sure you could find something more flattering .

First one is ok but I think you’ve a lovely figure and neither are doing you justice. What colours suit you? If you don’t know put a photo of you into chat got and find out. Go from there

Nice dress but always annoys me how MOB dresses are modelled by 30 yr olds in a size 6!

OP, one thing I would suggest is that it would be better to make a special shopping trip for your dress in the New Year, rather than this September.

The last of the summer dresses are moving into the sales now; the autumn/winter/Christmas dresses will be coming in in September, including in Occasion wear.

You've said that it's a spring wedding, so I'm guessing around May.

I would wait until around February to look for dresses, to be honest.

You need a special dress which is from the 'Spring' palette, the lighter, brighter colours.

You have a really lovely figure, very nice arms and skin tone and beautiful hair. It seems such a shame not to wear a bit of colour and show that off. It's a celebration! Get something you are going to feel cheerful and comfortable in.

Agree! My MIL wore navy to our wedding in May in a hot country! She looked like she was attending a business meeting.

Sorry, I'm with your husband too. The fabric doesn't hang very well and looks quite bunched up so is not a flattering shape. Im sure you will find something that's just perfect if you keep looking

Why is everyone commenting on the gloves, they are clearly to protect the dress when being tried on 🙄

I agree there is a risk that navy can look
like business attire (or cabin crew) and you need to really get the accessories right.

The first dress looks great, but strikes me as something which needs to be worn with a decent heel, so I would also take this into account. You may of course be one of those amazing women who can wear a heel all day!

I am not a fan of the second dress.

I would consider something more colourful.

I would wait until early next year. See what colours are trending so that you look current if you prefer plain fabrics rather than patterns.
