Husband dislikes my mother of the bride dress choices, am I wrong?

Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

honestly get some great shape wear, stand up straight, go a paler colour.

those dresses are a bit like something you would see the late queen in, well maybe not with the bow and pearls.

OP you’ve lost 9 stone, that’s incredible! Now it’s your time to shine! Get something bright and show yourself off. Don’t hide your light under a bushel!

I don’t think it is appropriate to show so much back as Mother of the Bride, also navy is an odd choice unless this is a winter wedding?

To me these look like evening dresses rather than day dresses because of the length?

If I were you I’d get a bra fitting as a PP suggested, maybe some smoothing shapewear if you want some extra confidence and then go and try stuff on! Try on things that are way out of your comfort zone or which you think would never suit you.

I’d avoid anything described as ‘mother of the bride’ because it’s often so dull and dowdy. You’re only in your 60s, you’re not a dowager duchess. Dress for joy! And take your husband if he’s willing. In fact I’d send him out to choose some options, he sounds like he knows what looks good on you.

The first one I like and I do think suits you. It's just, like many others, it's too dark for a wedding. Anyway you can lighten it up with perhaps a paler hat and handbag?

Your first dress with the bow back is my own mums MOB outfit, but in a different colour. Whatever shop you’ve been to to try those on, it doesn’t look like they’ve helped to let you see how the dress should sit - pinning the waist, shoulders etc. knowing how it should look, that one isn’t sitting right! Also, unless you’re absolutely sticking to navy, try it in other colours, it really changes how it looks. We tried it in navy, black, cobalt, blush pink and duck egg blue, and the last two were our favourites.

The second one is frumpy. The first one looks like the dress is undone at the back and makes you look larger in the waist than I think you actually are.
Maybe a different shade of blue? It looks quite heavy for a spring wedding. Go with whatever colour usually suits you but not black or navy.

I recently tried the first one on in a different colour and it fitted well , I loved it but chose something completely different. I don’t think black is a good colour choice , and they both look too big for you , I think you could find something much nicer.

I think what to take from this is that your choices aren't inherently bad but you can do so much better. You have done brilliantly to lose so much weight but your brain needs to catch up. I hope you find something wonderful to wear.

Amazing! Well done. I think you could definitely go for a lighter colour and something that shows your figure off better. You have lovely colouring. When I was much bigger I always opted for black or dark as it made me feel slimmer. So it's easy to gravitate towards the old you.. what colour are the bridesmaids dresses?

Two things. 1. When you lose a lot of weight and if you're on maintenance now your body continues to change shape for around six months.

1. Scaffolding. Your undergarments need looking at measurements wise. When I went with daughter wedding dress fitting we both popped into bravissimo and treated ourselves to new underwear. I'd lost weight too and my bras no longer did a good job.

I had to take my bra off for both dresses. I think I need to go get a strapless one for trying on!!! Good advice x
