Hi
Getting married next Easter, elopement style wedding with daughter (28) and her partner as witnesses.
I have been sending pictures of dresses to daughter for her opinion and this came up on my feed. Sent to daughter as I thought it was perfect for me in terms of style, arms covered etc etc.
She hates it!!
For info 57 (age) size 10/12.
Am I loosing my style mojo?

Oh no! The sleeves are a bit mental and very distracting. But I think, even if you are a size ten, it would be a difficult wear - would show every lump and bump.

Monsoon have nice wedding dresses usually. Not as formal though. Or try John Lewis. They seem to have lots of long sleeve options

I love it- it would drown me but my sister is very small and slim and it would look amazing on her so I think it would just depend on your body type.

This is stunning!

Oh this is gorgeous.

PopeJoan2 · 25/03/2025 12:12

Sorry, but I don’t like it. The flowers on the sleeves are atrocious and will clash with/be mistaken for your bouquet.

PopeJoan2 · 25/03/2025 12:17

If the wedding is elopement style I wonder if the dress has to be white or ivory.

Isn't it?

Although I'm not convinced by the model's body language in the vid...

She's not really selling it is she 😀

FondantFancyFan · 25/03/2025 04:39

Sorry, that looks like a netted, maternity dress. Would be fine if you are hiding a large stomach I guess.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 25/03/2025 14:40

FondantFancyFan · 25/03/2025 04:39

That one would be for the bride carrying a very large bouquet. She could also wear it for the Christening a couple of months later.

It is, my favourite so far

Oh this is gorgeous.

Gorgeous but would make me look pregnant with that waist or lack of and I only have 34D boobs, size 12.

I like the style but not the fabric of the one the OP @Smokedsausagesupper suggested. You don't want to get married in scuba unless you are doing it underwater.

Sea of love: couple gets married underwater in the Florida Keys

This ones beautiful but it would definitely make me look very pregnant, think it would depend on your body type.

Oh I meant to reply to the needle and thread ballerina one I think this is the wrong link!

Dead bland IMO.

Oh this is gorgeous.

That looks like a maternity smock!

DuckieDodgyHedgyPiggy · 25/03/2025 16:21

I like the first one, OP. I like that it's plain and elegant, with just the sleeves to add interest. But the scuba crepe is a bold choice. Has your DD seen you in it? What does she prefer instead? I think if you love it, go for it. She gets to choose the dress for her own wedding, which you may hate!

Bignanna · 25/03/2025 16:39

BatchCookBabe · 25/03/2025 16:13

Dead bland IMO.

It’s classic, timeless and elegant imo

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 25/03/2025 17:29

Re. the Adrianna Papell dress. Too green to be duck egg, somewhere between pale aqua and mint. Whatever it is, the colour is beautiful. The rest of the dress, not so much. A decent starting point, but think you can do better OP. What is it you like about the dress? Take those things and continue to look for a more stylish/better dress that incorporates them.

Are you dead set on buying a dress? If not, look at renting something by Roksanda (Ilinčić). I think you'll like the shape/style of her dresses. Indeed, the dress you have linked too is an incredibly watered down, if not basic version of hers.

Smokedsausagesupper · 25/03/2025 18:04

Thanks for all the new suggestions.
Just to update I was never particularly set on the initial dress just thought it looked interesting and different and maybe worth a try on.
Now I have moved on..

Thanks for the Roksanda suggestion, most of the bridal dresses are exactly what I was picturing.
Particularly love these two

Chunkilumptious · 25/03/2025 19:12

The Roksanda with the drape is absolutely beautiful

ApricotLime · 25/03/2025 19:58

I like it

schoolsoutforever · 25/03/2025 20:30

I really like it. It's soooo much better to me than many of the alternatives (like the 50s style type thing which was fashionable about 15 years ago - and the 50s of course). I think you'd probably benefit from being tall and slimish but I think with good quality undergarments this would work on a range of dress sizes. I'm 49, 5 ft 6 and size 10 and would wear this. Plus the sleeves don't really bother me at all, OK without but not a big deal.

The second one is beautiful.

Magpie50 · 26/03/2025 01:50

Oooooh, I like both of those. Very elegant.
The first one was abit odd in the sleeve dept! Also looked quite unforgiving, like you needed to be 5'10 and a size 8 to pull it off.
