1st March ~ start of a new season. After the rather wet winter for some areas, let's hope for something drier over the next few months.

Some thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook.

Good news! Lets hope we get some persistent, settled weather for a while to help spring properly spring into flower and leaf.

gingercat02 · 01/03/2026 12:31

Thanks Gloria, the forecast here is milder but still grey. We had a beautiful morning and early afternoon yesterday and then the rain came in about 4pm 😔

RainbowZebraWarrior · 01/03/2026 14:12

Hurrah and happy St David's Day Daffodil

Flipping freezing here, mind. It went down to 1 degree last night and hasn't felt all that much warmer today, although it is apparently 10 degrees here on the NE coast of England.

socks1107 · 01/03/2026 14:13

Dry would be very welcome!

I really need a drier outlook as despite being on a slope, my lawn is a bog. Hate to think how the downhill neighbours are feeling.

Thank you for the new thread!

GloriaSmud · 02/03/2026 15:21

Spring has sprung here. My weather station is saying it's 17C here but think it's more 15C. The washing's out, windows open and the first lawn mower of the year was heard this morning! 🌞

Thanks @GloriaSmud definitely ready for spring 🌼

GloriaSmud · 03/03/2026 08:02

@leesmum ~ I think after the winter we've had, we're all ready! That's not to say there won't be any rain at all this week ~ could be showers (maybe snow over Scottish hills) but it's going to be a nice week for most.

Yesterday's thoughts from Netweather...

Daffodils and double figures - meteorological spring delivers a mild midweek

Mild air will take its time to spread to more of the UK this week. High pressure will try to keep Atlantic rain at bay but not always be successful.

walking limited due to slightly damaged foot but definitely going outside to play

Pixiedust1234 · 03/03/2026 19:43

It's been lovely here today. So lovely I left the coat in the car several times 😮

justasking111 · 06/03/2026 09:17

We've had less rain and more sunshine than forecast this week. I'm happy

gingercat02 · 06/03/2026 09:25

Back to winter in the NE today. 4 degrees and rainy. There's snow not very far away in the Borders and Cumbria according to the local weather this morning.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 06/03/2026 09:38

We've had wet floppy snow this morning too in the NE.
DHs birthday was on the 4th and he says the day he was born there was two foot of snow in Sheffield.

Gosh you can’t half see dust and dirty windows when the sun shines !

Pixiedust1234 · 08/03/2026 10:26

What do they mean with warm start fades??! I had ONE day 😠

becausetrampslikeus · 08/03/2026 18:38

Well the last few days haven’t been warm at all but at least they have been sunny ☀️

GloriaSmud · 09/03/2026 07:29

It looks like this week, we return to Autumn and Winter (we've woken up to fog this morning) and unsettled, windy (looking at the GFS, there might be some wind warnings later in the week) and getting colder seems to be the theme, with snow over higher ground as the week goes on...

Yesterday's thoughts from Netweather...

Week ahead: Turning increasingly unsettled and windy, colder later in the week

After a mild and dry start to March. it looks to turn increasingly unsettled this coming week, with spells of rain or showers at times and also becoming windy. Turning colder later in the week, with risk of hill snow in the north and west and widesprea...

Yes @GloriaSmud weather warnings and it’s quite blowy today too

Pricesandvices · 12/03/2026 22:12

The wind is so gusty in Hampshire. Lots of little branches are being snapped off the trees.

Pixiedust1234 · 17/03/2026 13:54

I can confirm it looks lovely outside today. Unfortunately me and the cat/nurse are bedbound due to a stinking cold that's had me passed out for a few days so have no idea if it's as lovely as it looks. Hopefully it will be just as nice tomorrow ☀

Edit - can someone tell me what colour that emogi is please? It's come up as black!

gingercat02 · 17/03/2026 15:01

It's a beautiful, if breezy day here. I have been gardening and have a full line of washing out. It's like actual spring ⚘️🌱🪻🌷
