1st March ~ start of a new season. After the rather wet winter for some areas, let's hope for something drier over the next few months.

Some thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook.

If the wind would kindly sod off it would be a much lovelier day!

EmeraldRoulette · 30/04/2026 16:16

@GloriaSmud sorry to keep bothering you but weather forecast makes so little sense to me in the language they use

Do you have any thoughts for the week commencing 18th of May or is it just too early to tell?

thank you

GloriaSmud · 30/04/2026 17:06

@EmeraldRoulette ~ it's very early to say and the Gfs only goes as far as the 16th May at the moment but in the last few days of the run (the 14th onwards), the signs point to it being fairly settled. Netweather's long-range forecast (from 18-26th May) seems to think along the same sort of lines but the metoffice one goes for a bit more unsettled, saying that low pressure systems are likely to dominate at first.

I'm hoping Netweather's forecast is right!

@GloriaSmud thanks Gloria
I have no idea what low pressure means
But from what I can gather, it's not going to be like super sunny weather?

I think I forget what an outlier last year was

Now I'm really cross. I've booked a man to valet my car tomorrow. The Victorian extravaganza is on in Llandudno as well. 🥹

Delatron · 01/05/2026 10:44

Glorious today but the weather in this country is so frustrating! Not looking forward to cooler next week. 12 degrees in May is silly. I know we need the rain but I hope the cool spell is short lived.

justasking111 · 01/05/2026 15:15

Poor guy who came to valet my car got soaked. I opened the garage and reversed the car in to get them both out of the torrential rain

gingercat02 · 01/05/2026 15:16

It's hit a vast 20°C here today, its quite pleasant 🌞

Delatron · 01/05/2026 16:10

Hmm I may be grasping at straws but looks a bit better for next week now (not so rainy on Monday as it was saying). In the SE.

I just hate the temperature swings we get at this time of year..

GloriaSmud · 01/05/2026 20:17

It's been a lovely day here as well. Tomorrow looks ok but Sunday, definitely comes under the 'typical Bank Holiday weather' title.

And Delatron's right about next week ~ drier but temperatures heading downwards with overnight frosts, especially in the north and could be a chance of snow for Scottish hills.

Lovely hot sunny day here in SE, 21 degrees. Why does it get colder and rainy next week? Not fair.

countrygirl99 · 02/05/2026 15:22

Heard on the farming programme this morning that Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire have had the dryest April on record. Living on the border between the two I can well believe it. Apparently north west Scotland knicked our rain.

Delatron · 05/05/2026 08:02

Every forecast is saying different for this week. Wednesday looks cold. But is there a little warm up for next weekend? I’m crossing my fingers as I have a birthday party- but I’m used to May weather so have plans to move indoors if necessary!

justasking111 · 05/05/2026 08:53

Temperature drop in north Wales. Jumper weather.

gingercat02 · 05/05/2026 08:59

Cool and grey on the NE coast

Delatron · 05/05/2026 09:11

Tomorrow looks very cold for the time of the year - I am hoping it improves after that.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 05/05/2026 11:56

Very humid yesterday and seems colder and cloudier. SE London.

Anyone else looking longingly at the central heating switch? I have resisted so far but I have a devil on my shoulder 😕

GloriaSmud · 06/05/2026 07:28

Might be the odd shower and cooler for the north and around coasts but it looks like there is going to be a brief warm up for the weekend .....and then it cools down again next week.

Some thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook on the rest of the week.
