This came as a bit of a surprise this morning! I've been outside and it's definitely a bit drizzly but no wind to speak of. I think someone at BBCW has pressed the wrong button 😆

Did the BBC accidentally get Guy Goma in as the expert meteorologist?

JoanThursday · 10/10/2024 06:32

Should I cycle with 14,965 mph winds?

Chicooo · 10/10/2024 06:34

I'm not sure whether to be more concerned about the wind or the maximum temperature tomorrow....

When will someone notice the error at the BBC I wonder? Bit of a mess!

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/10/2024 06:38

Important to try and stay well hydrated at that temp.

Boringly normal temp and 5mph wind here.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/10/2024 06:41

Ha @showersandflowers that’s just a breeze. It’s forecast as 4245mph here in Essex!

nauticant · 10/10/2024 06:41

The windspeed here was forecast to be above 15000mph but it's now settled down to 542mph so I think I might risk taking a brolly.

nauticant · 10/10/2024 06:45

As a bonus, little Earth might be seizing the crown for the windiest planet in the solar system:

Neptune, the eighth and farthest planet from the sun, has the strongest winds in the solar system. At high altitudes speeds can exceed 1,100 mph. That is 1.5 times faster than the speed of sound. In 1989, NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft made the first and only close-up observations of Neptune.

Pinkballetflatts · 10/10/2024 06:47

Allegedly hurricane force winds of 5227 coming from the north east to Liverpool are forecast.

GloriaSmud · 10/10/2024 06:47

I've got it forecast for that here as well (Leicester) ~ wind speed of 3703mph today and tomorrow. Mmmm, better go and check everything's weighted down at the allotment.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/10/2024 06:47

Did God fart or something?

Seasidelass · 10/10/2024 06:48

1515mph on the Fylde coast. Still sunny though so definitely getting some washing out 👍

MagentaRavioli · 10/10/2024 06:50

Same in Reykjavik, Muscat and Ouagadougou

Does anyone have any insight as to why the BBC have made this cock up? I assume it’s related to their excitement about the actual, terrifying hurricane in the states?

pancake123 · 10/10/2024 06:50

15654 here & I’m taking my class on a school trip - might have to change the risk assessment.

SoehnleAd · 10/10/2024 06:51

IT’S WORLD WIDE!! GOD HELP US ALL!!!

onwardsup4 · 10/10/2024 06:51

I just seen this when looking at what today was like for us in Cornwall. Best batten down the hatches!

NOTANUM · 10/10/2024 06:51

This thread has cheered me up.
Hurricane winds of 3000 mph here. But thankfully low UV and pollution so there’s that.

Karmatime · 10/10/2024 06:51

Winds of 10804 forecast on the south coast 💨 😳

AwkwardSquad · 10/10/2024 06:52

Just checked, and winds of 5385 mph in my little corner of the north east! Better get the washing on the line sharpish, perfect drying weather 😂

Theunamedcat · 10/10/2024 06:52

My app is normal and boring

AChickenPooAndABiscuit · 10/10/2024 06:53

Chicooo · 10/10/2024 06:09

Ahahaha same for me in Surrey.

14804mph apparently

Oh that's bad... it's only a fairly breezy 3,508mph in London at the mo Grin

Sesma · 10/10/2024 06:53

Carol just told us on the telly not to be alarmed

NOTANUM · 10/10/2024 06:53

They’re now saying they’ve “data issues” over on X and to bear with them as they fix it.

The IT crowd having a bad morning I feel.

AChickenPooAndABiscuit · 10/10/2024 06:54

showersandflowers · 10/10/2024 06:13

Same where we are. Better not put any washing out today.

Meh, just double peg it, it'll be fine... 😂
