This came as a bit of a surprise this morning! I've been outside and it's definitely a bit drizzly but no wind to speak of. I think someone at BBCW has pressed the wrong button 😆

We will know for sure when the National Trust places announce “it’s blowing a hooley” so they’ll be closed.

Flying to Scotland today - should I be worried??

Well you certainly won't need the plane... Grin

Dr13Hadley · 10/10/2024 07:46

Yep, had a double take this morning when I checked, currently 11811 mph here apparently, although looks very calm outside

Threewheeler1 · 10/10/2024 07:46

It'll be fractionally less breezy at 5737mph than a camping holiday I once had with the kids on the Ceredigion coast in August ⛈

13863mph here, should get the washing dried pretty quickly.

Yes, but how many miles do we need to drive to get it back? LOL

This reminds me of a very unusual high winds alert in Spain, a few years back, on the very same day I was flying back to UK.
I was worried they would cancel the flight. There was warnings in the TV, apps, street signs, airport.
The leaves on the trees did not move! Nothing.
We took off. Oh my! That was rough! The airplane was tilted one way and another, quite a few degrees and I was, for first time in my life, truly scared in an airplane.
It is very calm here too, at least by now.
Fingers crossed it stays so! We live in a really windy area and we already had wind damage twice in 8 years.

itwasnevermine · 10/10/2024 07:48

Same here down in Devon, our wind speeds have dropped though, they were 16,470 when I woke up and now they're ONLY 1629, so I should be grateful

SoupDragon · 10/10/2024 07:48

I'm a little disappointed winds here are only 4640mph.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 10/10/2024 07:48

Same on the south coast! No paddleboarding today then😆

Must be a glitch as I've just checked Zandvoort in the Netherlands and they apparently have wind speeds of 24,286!!

DanielaDressen · 10/10/2024 07:49

Ha ha, bloody BBC I was planning to cycle to work today and have actually driven in now as I was worried we were about to be hit by a mega storm!

JoJothegerbil · 10/10/2024 07:49

I'm in the Algarve at the moment and it's the same here!

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/10/2024 06:24

😂 Not sure what you’d need to weigh the trampoline down with. The car maybe?

😆

MrsLBrown · 10/10/2024 07:50

Has someone hacked into the website and this is a joke?

That's all I can think of.

(same here where I live- 559 mph winds.)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/10/2024 07:52

Same for me, outer SW London.
Is this Russia ‘causing mayhem’ as we were warned very recently?

Threewheeler1 · 10/10/2024 07:52

Is Michael Fish still working at the BBC? Not pointing any fingers but...👀

Yelloworangetomato · 10/10/2024 07:52

I thought it was just my phone and I needed to clear my cookies or something

VanillaVein · 10/10/2024 07:52

It's just a tech glitch.

ClaraLane · 10/10/2024 07:53

5022 mph here in Norwich! I’m happy because I’ve got a load of washing to do 😂

FlowersOfSulphur · 10/10/2024 07:53

Very windy here in Epsom too!

PanettoneSoprano · 10/10/2024 06:10

How strange! I randomly checked Manchester and it's looking fine there...

It’s showing hurricane force winds for Bolton - must be very localised 😳

itwasnevermine · 10/10/2024 07:54

VanillaVein · 10/10/2024 07:52

It's just a tech glitch.

I think we all know that, I don't think anyone was sat there thinking they actually had 1600 mile an hour winds! But it's just funny

Cheekychop84 · 10/10/2024 07:55

Winds here of 16010 down in the south east!🤔

Iamnotavicar · 10/10/2024 07:55

Forecast is 15,232 where I live. Should I double peg the washing? 🤣
