This came as a bit of a surprise this morning! I've been outside and it's definitely a bit drizzly but no wind to speak of. I think someone at BBCW has pressed the wrong button 😆

WeatherPro app is giving the same crazy forecasts. It gets its data from Meteo Group too. Gusting 15685mph today!

15451 mph in the NE !!!

MadisonAvenue · 10/10/2024 07:31

13863mph here, should get the washing dried pretty quickly.

Threewheeler1 · 10/10/2024 07:32

I see the wind's coming from the north east.
Someone better warn Ireland that they should be expecting the UK's entire stocks of garden trampolines to be landing on them later today.

itsgettingweird · 10/10/2024 07:33

I've just driven home listening to R4 and he said the weather forecast thing isn't working and he can assure us he's standing in Oxford and the winds aren't 350mph Grin

Unexpected bedding wash day! Bonus!

Apparently Cornwall doesn't exist in the UK according to BBC weather has it blown away?

Hope not - I'm driving there tomorrow!

Already wondering if I'll find my way - I won't have the headspace to keep trying to find where it's actually gone 😂

BloodyAdultDC · 10/10/2024 07:35

showersandflowers · 10/10/2024 06:13

Same where we are. Better not put any washing out today.

On the contrary, I've got 2 loads to put out.

This is the most entertaining the BBC has been for a while 😁

theDudesmummy · 10/10/2024 07:36

Here in Ireland we also apparently have a 🌀

Thighdentitycrisis · 10/10/2024 07:37

Yes and I’ve just heard weather forecasts on Tge Today programme and not a mention?

BeachRide · 10/10/2024 07:37

664mph in the SW. Best put my raincoat on for walking the dog this morning!

WhySoManySocks · 10/10/2024 07:37

It’s a typo somewhere in the system. Hurricane or not, air can’t move at the speed of 15000 miles per hour in the atmosphere. For reference, that’s about 12 times the speed of sound, and the highest wind speed ever recorded is 253 miles per hour.

Sorry, this was a humorless reply to someone upthread who thought “they were just covering their backs”.

Packingboxesneeded · 10/10/2024 07:38

Someone needs to contact Jeremy Vine and tell the eejit not to go out on his penny farthing bike this morning. It might be wobbly in the 2490 mph winds.

IDontHateRainbows · 10/10/2024 07:39

Wondering if a disgruntled beeb employee had a mess around before leaving....

Yes that's why it's funny. I don't think anyone thinks temperatures of 400 degrees are real either.

HelpMeGetThrough · 10/10/2024 07:41

I think it'll be a cracking "drying day" here. Time to get the sheets out.

This is Britain though and we're plucky, even in the face of seemingly never-seen-before-and-physically-impossible winds 😃

catmothertes1 · 10/10/2024 07:42

Chicooo · 10/10/2024 06:13

It's not just UK either.

My various saved locations across Europe have some OTT hurricanes winds too.

We have the same in Scotland and I've noticed the French town where my parents live have the same too. I assume it's a glitch as I'm sure we would have noticed if we had hurricane winds outside. As it is we have a gentle breeze that will do nicely as I have washing outside.

Musicaltheatremum · 10/10/2024 07:43

17000 in Edinburgh!

Lulubellamozarella · 10/10/2024 07:43

Mid Wales, same here too! 15445mph winds!! 😂

VanillaVein · 10/10/2024 07:44
