Not quite January yet, but the weather warnings continue. Generally a mild outlook to come, though of course parts of Scotland will see more wintry weather on and off.

North Wales we've snow Bala, Ruthin way now. Police reporting accidents on country side roads.

beenrumbled · 17/01/2023 05:46

It snowed heavily for 20 minutes in Manchester yesterday morning but disappeared quickly. Walking home the pavements were treacherous. I've not looked outside today yet.

crosspusscrossstitcher · 17/01/2023 06:18

Well, the snow froze - predictably - so I expect to be Jane Torvill later. 🤦‍♀️😁

In other news, it's also gone quite foggy. I wouldn't want to be driving in it until daylight.

GloriaSmud · 17/01/2023 06:46

We had a few snow flurries here (Leicester) yesterday.
Temperature's a chilly -5.7C at the moment.

<sigh> at the memories of the 2010 snow!

nomdegrrr1 · 17/01/2023 06:54

Yorkshire here, no snow. The car is white with frost, though, when I got up this morning and I remembered I left some bottles of diet cola in the car overnight. I'm sort of nervous to check on them.

Rebel2023 · 17/01/2023 07:54

Snow has frozen here. The daft cat has ventured outside and is complaining loudly

We've a couple of inches here 0.3c so it's not melting. Gritters have had a busy night. It's forecast for more.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2023 08:27

All of our flooded roads have, as has entirely expected, frozen. It's going to make for interesting travelling!

Belated ice warnings for the south, snow warnings for cornwall and the odd warning elsewhere.

Snow showers expected to continue in the west, an amber warning for snow for parts of Scotland and more general ice warnings leading to chaos. This will continue over night into tomorrow.

Does this mean {whispers} the Manchester Snow Shield™️ might be breached? 🤞

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2023 13:25

Yes, Manchester looks likely to get snow this afternoon and evening. Perhaps heavy at times.

Manchester has had far more snow than I have had in my location over the past few years. I feel that this is unfair. Angry Grin

Oh @OhYouBadBadKitten you say fabulous things, I'm about 20 miles from Manchester! 😃

crosspusscrossstitcher · 17/01/2023 15:22

@TokyoSushi Have you had any flurries? We have (South Cheshire) but they've stopped now.
It wasn't too bad outside, but it's gone really cold now. Not sure the clear skies are compensating that much. Grin

@OhYouBadBadKitten Come north. Get snow. ❄⛄❄

We had about 20 minutes of 'Really Good Snow' last night and then just some teeny tiny flurries today. Hope it peps up a bit!

beenrumbled · 17/01/2023 19:18

Manchester snow shield breached again this evening. Just a dusting but pretty. It's stopped for now

crosspusscrossstitcher · 17/01/2023 19:47

I feel let down.Sad

The pathetic dusting we had earlier has melted. Shock
How very dare it!

We've had a dusting in sw devon - just enough to look like salts been spread. That's about as good as it gets down here!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2023 21:15

I don't think I'll ever see snow again Sad

Please do take great care, black ice everywhere it has rained recently, which I think is pretty much everywhere.

"I don't think I'll ever see snow again"

This is exactly how I felt, especially after the horrors of summer and the warm November. I was even desperately planning to go somewhere with snow - not that I could afford it.

And then, miracle of miracles.. the SE got snow. Six whole inches of it which stayed. It was like walking through Narnia. I was so happy. This is last month.

So I totally get how you feel: that yearning. I hate when tabloids shriek about Artic blasts and heavy dumps of snow and you read the small print and it's parts of higher ground in Scotland.

It's -2 degrees here right now and icy tomorrow so that's something.

Where do you live?

BouleBaker · 18/01/2023 04:19

Not a snifter of a sprinkling here. Just aboit had to de-ice the car but even that was wuite light. My children are very cross with me for living in the South by the sea!

GloriaSmud · 18/01/2023 06:57

0C and we've had a slight snow covering overnight (Leicester)

hoochyhag · 18/01/2023 07:08

Woo hoo a bit of snow in West Yorkshire ☃️

crosspusscrossstitcher · 18/01/2023 08:06

@OhYouBadBadKitten don't want to make you jealous or anything, but we've had around half an inch...🎉
🤦‍♀️

Gorgeous pink sky out east to compensate. ❤
