Not quite January yet, but the weather warnings continue. Generally a mild outlook to come, though of course parts of Scotland will see more wintry weather on and off.

On another thread someone in Gloucestershire said they had nothing which is the closest I've seen an actual eye witness report on

Ozcando · 08/03/2023 04:41

Chucking it down and settling SW Kent !

PledgeDusterMop · 08/03/2023 04:52

Snow here in north Cardiff

BatshitCrazyWoman · 08/03/2023 04:55

Snowing here on the London/Kent border, and a couple of centimetres laid already. Trains all seem to be running at the moment, so I'll be trekking to the station in an hour or so. I'd like it to either stop or become much heavier and stop all the trains before then 😂 I'll be keeping an eye out for it worsening whilst I'm at work, so I can get home (trains normally stop if there's a couple of flakes).

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 08/03/2023 05:54

Snowing here quite heavily in east Kent but the ground's too wet for it to settle on anything but the cars. No snow day for us then unfortunately.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/03/2023 06:23

Snowing in North Kent and settling already got a few cm. The children are going to be very excited when they wake up

SulisMinerva · 08/03/2023 06:23

A layer of snow in Surrey/Sussex border. Hasn’t settled on the roads but a a good amount in the garden/on cars/roofs. Daughter is very happy!

GloriaSmud · 08/03/2023 06:33

Nothing here at the moment (Leicester) but the metoffice have got us having snow from 3pm today, which sort of matches with what the GFS says.

GloriaSmud · 08/03/2023 06:36

Plenty of snow reports showing up on uksnowmap

BouleBaker · 08/03/2023 06:45

Wet and damp on the South Coast. No snow here.

TokyoSushi · 08/03/2023 06:48

Oh how exciting everybody, enjoy!!

Nothing here in Cheshire as expected but tomorrow is looking promising!

ListenLinda · 08/03/2023 06:53

Met office has changed to say we are going to get light snow on and off from 1pm, into tomorrow here in West Yorkshire.

StandUpStraight · 08/03/2023 07:00

Snowing lightly here in mid Gloucestershire

Coffeecreme · 08/03/2023 07:03

cant decide whether to go to work since it is snowing and they still dont know whether the rush hour snow is snow or rain!
on south east news

ChocHotolate · 08/03/2023 07:06

Heavy snow 4am-6.30 in West london but not settled at all. Everything is very wet now

tapdancingmum · 08/03/2023 07:21

My garden this morning. I'm in Bucks on top of one of the chiltern hills. The roads are clear and the buses are running but they are forecasting snow all day. Luckily for me I only have a couple of miles to get to work and I don't have to go up or down any hills.

Was hoping for a snow day but if the schools are open we have to try to as well.

Good morning all. Just catching up after some snow watching in the early hours. At last my time has come Grin

How long this will stay as snow for those who have it and also how long it will stay on the ground are very uncertain. It looks like the precipitation band is a real mix of rain sleet and snow and this evenings precipitation may well be rain rather than snow. So make the most of it!

SizzlestheSausageDog · 08/03/2023 07:50

Nice covering in North Hants, but either roads weren't gritted or it was washed away. Slush carnage developing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/03/2023 07:59

It looks like this snow could well push into the Midlands through this afternoon and evening, so here could be some disruption in areas such as the Chilterns and

Tomorrow then sees the risk to transferring even further north into areas like the peak district.

Yay. ⛄
How does it feel to have your very own snow? Grin

I love the hushedness of everything when it snows at night. The muffledness of the traffic. That and the fact that you can see in the dark (ish).

@TokyoSushi I'm south Cheshire, so I'll let you know when it's passing over me - think of it as your "time to make a brew and find the wellies" warning. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/03/2023 08:04

It's very pleasing. I'm going to head out into it soon, so there will be a pause in posts!

Looking at the Pennines for example tomorrow, it could be quite severe, with up to 40cm in hilly areas. So watch out places like Bakewell and Glossop which are especially snow prone.

It's so unfair - nothing here on the South Essex coast It's falling but not sticking. Seeing that friends in London and Kent have had a nice amount though.
