Not quite January yet, but the weather warnings continue. Generally a mild outlook to come, though of course parts of Scotland will see more wintry weather on and off.

Snow in north Cotswolds but only a covering, thawing though 😞

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2023 08:00

I see plenty of snow picture up around the Aberdeen area.
whojamaflip just see it as it cooling down the ground for a hopeful another round.

A continued snow risk in eastern areas today from showers.

We had a dusting in west Oxfordshire and there is now light sleet.

DoThePropeller · 07/03/2023 08:58

We had a few flurries on the top of my Surrey hill this morning but too wet and warm for it to settle.

DementedPanda · 07/03/2023 08:59

Good covering of snow on the south Northumberland coast

InMySpareTime · 07/03/2023 09:13

Meanwhile in Manchester, wall to wall blue skies and not even a frost. I'm hanging washing out!

TokyoSushi · 07/03/2023 09:28

Absolutely glorious, if a little chilly, here in Cheshire, fingers firmly crossed for something exciting on Thursday!

GloriaSmud · 07/03/2023 09:53

Nowt here this morning (Leicester), not even a frost.
Hoping for something a little later in the week <polishes sledge furiously> ❄

Bowednotbroken · 07/03/2023 10:00

Glorious sun (for now!) in West Yorkshire- cold though!

TokyoSushi · 07/03/2023 10:03

Oooooh BBC Weather app has just moved us to heavy snow in Cheshire on Thursday!! (I know that doesn't really mean anything, but the thought of it is exciting!!)

justasking111 · 07/03/2023 10:10

Cheshire gets the snow as does ne Wales. We're getting sleety rain on Thursday.

justasking111 · 07/03/2023 10:22

Thursday looks very windy for us. West coast of Ireland too

GloriaSmud · 07/03/2023 11:25

Some interesting charts coming out at the moment to do with the snow tomorrow/into Thursday. Still a forecasting mess though even at this close range. Excitement has reached fever pitch on Netweather's messageboards!

Ihateboris · 07/03/2023 11:29

Beautiful sunny day in Chester, albeit a little chilly. Perfect day for a walk along the river 👌

colouringindoors · 07/03/2023 12:47

Well I'm normally a big fan of the Met Office but today I am seriously unimpressed! Supposed to be dry now til 3 in this corner of Herts. But it's sleety hailing it down steadily. Checked on Netweather and that's what the forecast for the next 1-2 hours. Great. Supposed to be gardening...

colouringindoors · 07/03/2023 13:05

Wow Met and BBC clearly using different models. Met shows now and tomorrow dry here, Bbc shows sleet. Working outdoors tomorrow now looking less likely 😪

hoochycrone · 07/03/2023 13:49

Met office says snow for Thursday, but they've destroyed my hopes. They've lied to me so often, I just don't believe them anymore 😔

hoochycrone · 07/03/2023 13:51

@colouringindoors
Oh gosh just wrap up warm. It's sunny here now but it will be bitterly cold tomorrow 🧤🧣

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2023 15:04

Mess is the right word Gloria Tomorrow mornings snow potential looks like it might be problematic after all! Confused and as for tomorrow evenings?

I think I might get a new hobby like ermmm, counting cars or something, because I, like everyone else, has absolutely no idea!

www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2023-03-08 The met office have firmed up the warning though and warn of residual effects into Thursday morning.

It seems that some people in the area will get rain and sleet, others slush, but it is possible also that snow may fall to lower ground giving reasonable accumulations.

Notice the impact grid which has gone up a likelihood and an impact level, so where it happens, it could be disruptive. Play tomorrow with caution and don't assume that just because it hasn't happened that it isn't going to happen. (unless I say so. Wink Tomorrow looks less chaotic for me, so I should be able to nowcast more.

Graupel and sun ☀️

GloriaSmud · 07/03/2023 17:08

Today's thoughts from Netweather.

EmmaEmerald · 07/03/2023 17:39

Any thoughts on North London tonight and tomorrow?

wheresmymojo · 07/03/2023 19:48

I'm trying to work out if we'll be getting snow in Hampshire or not...

I've never found forecasts so confusing?

Some say we have a high chance of more than 5cm...others say we'll have a bit of sleet and that's it.

Is it me or is everyone confused about what's supposed to be happening?
