Part 1 was getting a bit giant and in the miraculous event that I manage to sleep in a little tomorrow, it seems a good idea to start the new thread a little early. Part 1:

We didn't quite get to record UK temperatures, though lots of site records were achieved and Wales beat its previous record temperature by more than 2c. Tomorrow we look very likely to beat the UK record and to surpass 40c.

Tonight, obviously, do everything you can to cool your homes down, it won't be easy with lows of 24c in some places. One more day and it will feel much better for many.

I had a minor panic attack last night when I saw that Wednesday’s temperature had changed to 38 degrees on my weather app.

I think someone was having a laugh as it’s back to 21 now.

Not funny!

Last night I stayed up till 1am it was marginally cooler. Tonight house is at 26c outside 23c so no relief

Just negotiated to take our second fan away from dd and put it in the room with the dog as he was so unsettled and panting , it's lovely in there now with two tower fans! DD has the little USB fan I had in my room. I'm here with windows closed due to neighbours irritating water feature and I have no fan! I'll go to sleep but I tend to wake up bolt upright overheating at the best of times ....

I need to do more fan investing !

Oh my, the heat in our bedroom is ridiculous, just sitting in the garden for 10 mins, at 3:53am!

My kitten died partially due to the heat yesterday, I am utterly devastated. We tried everything to ensure he was safe. I hate this weather.

330am and 23° on the east coast. Yesterday it got to 36.

Dd is 15 and actually went into school. 50 out of the 700 made it. She's going back in today. School has aircon!!

I work in a frozen food factory and spent the day in glorious 5°. And came out at 2pm to 36°. Not amused.
We did however have 2 mins of rain at 830pm. We stood outside in our pjs!

@marblemad I sympathise deeply. My young cat died from heart failure just 3 days ago. Heat definitely didn't help. Hugs from me.

Last night was dreadfully hot - 26'C in our bedroom, a pity we've no place to sleep downstairs as it would be far cooler there. I got up around 2 a.m. as I just couldn't get back to sleep. Have flung all windows open and let out our other cat but not a lot of cool air to be had.. Hope the breeze picks up again, it's very still right now.

I came out to the garden with my coffee about 15 mins ago, actually feel a bit chilly in my skimpy pyjamas, what bliss!

Had to drive to pick DD up from school yesterday & my car started making a weird noise so using DH's today.

Was 30' at 10pm when we went to bed (although I slept on the sofa as it's marginally cooler downstairs) expecting high of 39' in notts today 😭

What a horrendous night. Got such a long day today too.

You can’t be serious, your dog has two tower fans while you have no fan and your dd has a tiny USB fan? Is the dog the God Anubis? No way would I be prioritising the family dog over my dd.

@CrunchyCarrot I am so so sorry I hope you are doing ok ❤. Yes, we are equally distraught. It is our third cat yet I am so upset. What makes it even worse is our second cat adored him and has been going in and out to the kittens fave places and meowing looking for him. I've been crying thinking what I could have done differently but it's no use, he's gone. I hate this weather!

What a f**king night! No fan, 4 month old feeding limpet baby and due to living right on the coast, the clangoring cacophony of nesting seagulls keeping us awake all night due to all our windows open.

Roll on tomorrow!

Up and have opened windows and doors downstairs. It’s 22.5C at N side of house and 25 C in interior. Going to keep pushing cool air through.
