Another storm and there is an Amber warning at the moment for Northern Ireland but I think there should be one for Cumbria/Lancashire as well, looking at the wind charts for tomorrow.

@Igneococcus my neighbours have done the same. It's recycling week, so nothing that will go wiffy, and I have room, so my bin is staying safely horizontal inside.

DuaLeaper · 20/02/2022 17:43

Worse than Thursday here in the West Midlands, plus a lot more rain - I think there's a chance of some proper flooding. The lane down to our house is already running with water, because the drains are all blocked with twigs from last week.

Strawberry0909 · 20/02/2022 17:46

Really windy and chucking it down in Somerset, we were lucky on Friday no damage but I can't see our fence surving the night

Igneococcus · 20/02/2022 17:53

We have collections for both bins tomorrow Motorina and general rubbish only gets collected every three weeks. I don't want to miss it either but I'll put them out first thing when I get up tomorrow morning. If she would talk to us or even respond to me when I greet her I'd offer to put her's out as well.
She put it right next to her brandnew (less than a month) car too.

sadpapercourtesan · 20/02/2022 17:57

Went for an estuary walk near Exeter today and the wind picked up around lunch time, as did the rain - we've just arrived home and the gusts were really quite fierce from about 4 onwards. I think there could be more trees/fences down by tomorrow.

CalpolOnToast · 20/02/2022 18:06

I'm also on Notts/Lincs border and think it's worse than Eunice. It's just calmed down a little bit but not much. Squall line was like having buckets of water thrown at the patio doors! There's a flood warning for our bit of the Trent and local tributaries and DH will need to park his car somewhere different at work tomorrow.

Motorina · 20/02/2022 18:13

Squall has just hit, I think. Proper pelting it down with rain. I'm not going outside (because I have a dog on my lap and a cat on my shoulder), but I can hear it pelting the windows. Sounds a bit like I'm on a cross channel ferry.

Wind isn't as loud as friday though.

CalpolOnToast · 20/02/2022 18:25

I let the cats out against my better judgement as they were shouting at me, hope they're ok!

Motorina · 20/02/2022 18:31

Cats are basically magic. They will reappear, outraged that YOU made it rain on them.

MrCrackersmum · 20/02/2022 18:40

It’s certainly feels worse than Friday here in the east of Cardiff. The rain isn’t helping either.

Sprig1 · 20/02/2022 18:53

Squall line passed here in Wiltshire now. Worst was between half four and half five. Still v windy now but nowhere near as bad as it was and the sideways waterfall of rain has gone.

Furries · 20/02/2022 18:54

Think the squall is just hitting here in Essex! Cat has just jumped off the sofa in fright at the noise of rain/hail on windows.

For those that have had it already - how long did it last?

Am utterly fed up with this weather 😢

Motorina · 20/02/2022 18:55

@furries - about five minutes. Maybe 10. Then there was a lull, and now strong winds. I had it about half an hour before my friend in Colchester, if that helps? So that's what you have coming.

BestIsWest · 20/02/2022 18:56

It’s been dreadful here near Swansea all day. As bad as Friday plus rain.
We had a lull about an hour ago but it’s started up again.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/02/2022 18:57

It sounds like I've moved into a car wash! It's chucking it down, with increased winds, outside now!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/02/2022 19:00

Bloody hell the rain!

TheGonnagle · 20/02/2022 19:01

It’s been pretty grim here, we’re on holiday just outside Totnes. Very windy, there’s a constant low rumbling sound from the wind in the trees and lots of stronger gusts too.

AmbushedByCake · 20/02/2022 19:05

50mph gusts tomorrow morning just as I'm supposed to drive (40 miles, motorway) to work Confused can't say I'm looking forward to it.

InMySpareTime · 20/02/2022 19:06

Manchester is getting a bit floody!
Not quite the heady heights of last January, but only about 20cm off and the river Mersey is still rising around 8cm an hour.
Flood alerts galore, I hope they open the Sale Waterpark floodgates soon or it'll be carnage with the winds on top.

Furries · 20/02/2022 19:25

@Motorina - thanks. It was definitely short, but blooming sharp! Was actually worried that my windows were going to smash. Am quite glad it’s pitch black out there, dread to think what the garden looks like. Also lost mobile/sky signal for the duration.

We’d best get an absolutely glorious summer to make up for last years rubbish one and then these storms. Otherwise, I want a refund 😂

Millionairenow · 20/02/2022 19:32

Agree to great summer please after all of this! Hope everyone is ok. Pants for those without power.

GloriaSmud · 20/02/2022 19:37

It's got quite blustery here (Leicester) Temperature's dropped about 3C in the last hour as well.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/02/2022 19:40

Our gust forecasts are getting worse for the early hours now. I'm really not looking forward to it.

StormzyinaTCup · 20/02/2022 19:44

In SE and it feels as gusty tonight as it did on Friday and we have the addition of rain. Not sure my fence is going to survive another battering. We were fortunate not to lose power on Friday but lights are flickering this evening.

bigbluebus · 20/02/2022 19:46

Definitely gusty here in Shropshire now - in fact it sounds far worse than it did on Friday.
