Thanks Kitten, yes, I was thinking tomorrow, it's still snowing here but lightly.

I can see a 9 for Tuesday next week!!!

Taken the decision not to drive to Guildford tonight... was going to the theatre with a friend. Just too much risk... Met Office showing heavy snow at 9pm near Bracknell but light in Guildford. Is there a snow band expected for West Surrey area tonight?

Albus, bbc have just reported that there are some operators going later than 8pm from waterloo, contrary to their earlier advice and their advice on their website. Sorry if I've caused any alarm. Which train operator does he use? South West Rail are saying their network will shut down from 8pm.

nannynick,it depends exactly where that blob goes.

Sorry all if I'm not being as accurate as I was. Forecasting exhaustion is clearly setting in.

Yeah, I see the blob on the radar... does look as though it could come my way, or might not. Think I'm best staying indoors in the warm.

my sister lives in Croydon, is in London anyway for work - and has just let me know she is going ahead with the theatre tickets she had for tonight - even though Southern Rail have "don't travel" written all over their website....

I do understand that in a way, but if she can't get home she's going to want to come here....I suppose I better get the guest things ready....I was not in the mood for overnight guests! that's my first world problem of the day....Grin

Does anyone know what the conditions are like around Birmingham airport/M42/M69? Husbands flight was delayed and he's due back in the next hour...no snow here yet but no idea what his drive home will be like....

It has snowed steadily all day in east Fife. We got out earlier and stocked up on food. DD2 is not coming up from Bristol. We are just bedding in for the weekend. About to crack open the wine.

Weirdly, in spite of being way North of nearly everyone (and as far West as you can get on the mainland) we have had nothing. Near me, thought it might amuse.

For whoever was asking earlier about the roads in oxshott/Leatherhead, I've just come through oxshott/Esher way and the main roads are fine despite the snow that's been falling all afternoon (not that heavily though). The side roads are very icy and will be a lot worse later I guess.

OYBBK I think Met office think we will get the blob - they have just changed our forecast to 90% snow at 9pm tonight! West Sussex/Surrey border here

Well I'm not sure if we'll get any more here in South Hampshire but we just have to wait for a thaw. Missed the freezing snow thank goodness!

Now I'm worrying about DS driving from Haverfordwest to Nottingham on Sunday Sad

Again, so many thanks to Kitten and Gloria Flowers

Anyone travelling out of Fenchurch Street from London, my friend is there at the moment and apparently a lot of trains are going to be starting from Barking :-/ so you may well get a bit stuck.

Anyone in Easterly Essex please don't go out on the roads unless you have two, two friends have had separate accidents in the last few hours due to ice that was invisible to the eye, despite crawling along at cautious speeds. Luckily both okay but one of the cars is a complete write off.

Still snowing here, light but fast and there is so much ice.

@sponkle ~ have a look on trafficEngland's website here. If you go on 'map layers' you can select different cameras so you can see what the motorways are like. At the moment it looks like the motorways are running OK but the outside lanes are a bit iffy, so care is needed.
Hope he gets home OK.

Who I hope the sheep are wearing hi vis vests or you won t find them in that Shock

Any thoughts on Hampshire (south Hants?)

We were expecting snow today but despite colour of sky we had moderate snow for about 1.5 hours after lunch. Nothing for a few hours now so I'm guessing like yesterday (as you'd expect as a prediction!) the storm took a slightly different path to forecast?

Thanks Gloria :) I get panicky...got stuck on a motorway in a blizzard years ago it was a bit scary and I always get a bit anxious since.
