btw this is Part 5.

Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

Hi oybk, is this nearly over? 😁 Im in East Surrey and it has absolutely ground to a halt simce 2pm. Roads and trains carnage.

CointreauVersial · 02/03/2018 16:31

Flomper - you aren't in Reigate are you? Just been looking at the TomTom - it's a huge mass of red spaghetti. Gridlocked!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 16:33

In the south things look better later tomorrow Flomper. However there will be new hazards - potential flooding and surface ice over Saturday night for many.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 16:36

Elsewhere from around Birmingham up things look better by Monday, but before then some more snow on Saturday and possibly Sunday.

Thank you, OYBBK (and Gloria) Flowers

What a week!

gttia · 02/03/2018 16:39

Things deteriorating again here in north Kent. Dh stuck on a train I've had to drive out and hope the train continues to at least this station. Nothing south is moving so I wander what weather is to come!!

ItsNachoCheese · 02/03/2018 16:41

Snowfall has been a lot less today in alloa i hope and pray it stays that way!

Titsywoo · 02/03/2018 16:42

I'm in East Surrey too - that snow at 3pm came a bit out of the blue as met office had said light snow all day. Luckily got home ok albeit with an impressive skid around a mini roundabout (and I'm in a 4x4!).

Flomper · 02/03/2018 16:42

Very near Reigate and the whole area from Warlingham - Caterham - Reigate is absolutely grid locked. DP is stuck on last train out of London which is now stuck on the track. Absolute carnage round here dur to the freezing rain. I went out at 2 to get the kids from school and only just made it back.

WreckTangled · 02/03/2018 16:42

I just had a nice nap Grin haven't looked out the window again yet...

MorvahRising · 02/03/2018 16:44

Looking at the Meteoradar site there’s another big pink wodge of snow heading over this way from the continent; I wonder which way it will go? I suspect it will miss us in Surrey, it looks as though it’s going further north, although the Met Office is showing heavy snow here from 8pm. It’s been snowing here all afternoon and is just starting to tail off now.

fortyfourfeasts · 02/03/2018 16:45

Hi kitten, can you tell what is happening in Nottingham over the next 24 hours? We have family meant to be travelling down from Lancaster this evening and then over to mum's on Sunday in the North of the county. Met Office keeps changing it's mind about whether we are getting more snow or not!

OublietteBravo · 02/03/2018 16:54

Checking in from Bedford.

It's been snowing for a couple of hours here. It looks fairly light, but the road outside is partially covered - I reckon we might have had an inch already. The sky is that brown-grey colour which suggests that there is plenty more snow to come.

DH on his way back from London (he's made it as far as Luton already). DD home from school - DS should be back soon (after school cricket coaching clearly wasn't cancelled).

icantdothis2017 · 02/03/2018 17:01

Please say this is over soon . Please.
I can't take much more of this shit weather

magimedi · 02/03/2018 17:01

Just been out & cleared the driveway. Probably only about 1 - 2cms but don't want it icing up.

Warmest it has been for days (3 miles inland of Eastbourne). A balmy -0.1C Grin

Gloria & OYBBK you are such stars to put so much of your time into these threads. Thank you both.

Delatron · 02/03/2018 17:02

Bucks here. Snowed heavily for a few hours (the AJ amateur guy was very accurate). More snow than yesterday when it was dry and swirly snow! Easing off a bit now and I'm wondering if that's it.
I had a little nap too. Wondering if Ocado man will make it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 17:05

nearly over icantdothis :) by the end of of tomorrow it should be thawing, by Sunday all should be ok for you I hope.

Nottingham looks ok in terms of further snowfall, perhaps some light stuff overnight. However, things keep changing so keep an eye on stuff.

Near Banbury/Chipping Norton. Its bad here. Earlier this week it wasn't too bad. Now there are snow drifts everywhere and I cannot get out. Tried earlier and turned around as the roads hadn't been gritted so looks like we are stuck here for the weekend.

Hate this snow..

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 17:07

More precip heading towards the south coast on the radar. Be prepared for more snow and freezing rain to be heading north.

OP posts:
Riverside2 · 02/03/2018 17:07

I think the end is in sight for Essex and London?

MayhemandMadness01 · 02/03/2018 17:08

Bitterly cold in Liverpool but no snow, most of the ice seems to be disappearing and no sign of freezing rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/03/2018 17:09

Anyone wanting to travel out of London, especially out of Waterloo should have left already or be leaving now. I really mean that. If you are a waterloo passenger and don't get on a train by 7pm or 8pm you are stuffed.

birmingham new street now closed due to power supply issues.
