stormy weather forecast for Weds 14th/thurs 15th

I think that this weeks weather now needs its own thread. Can I first apologise for not creating a separate thread for the Scottish twin storms. Although I was posting forecasts on a general weather thread, real life has conspired to give me less weather watching time than usual.

So anyway, as ever with these systems the details are not yet tied down. Models are coming up with a range of depths of the low pressure of between 945hpa (and filling as it comes on shore) - 968hpa. It looks certain that a deep low pressure will cross the UK weds/thurs and that at the very least some areas will see gales. Worst case scenario is storm force winds.

At the moment the areas I personally think most at risk is Wales, the Midlands and perhaps southern England too.

I'll do my best to update when I can.

Think we've got snow on the way in... forecasts say it'll hit us any time now.We're a little high up so I'm just hoping I'll be able to get to DD's nursery to pick her up :(

It looks as though all I've got to look forward to weatherwise is betting on how much of our fence will survive the week.

Completely showing off NotAnother . To be fair where we are we don't often get any. On the fabled satellite photo showing the whole of the UK whited out in 2013 (?) our little tip pointing out to the West was the only green bit. My children were furious.

Oh it looks beautiful round where you are, Lost (both the country views and snow!) There are a few roads closed already because of snow.

South Cheshire. No snow forecast at all for us, however in the past hour it's gone distinctly chillier than it was earlier. Sky is completely cloudy with that 'snow look' to it.

It is absolutely beautiful round here the only problem is the places there are nice shops are over big hills so currently I am effectively snowed in from the Benefit make up counter where I want to be!

I'm going to go and finish the shed roof in a huff .

On the West Wales coast Moomin. Currently stuck on the West Wales coast . always have to be overly dramatic the radar shows it has passed and the roads will be fine again in an hour or so

It was raining heavily, but has stopped. Hoping it's busily getting colder for some snow!!

Ooh I'm originally from Barmouth, all my family are still there.

Snowing quite a bit in Wrexham, not sticking though thankfully! OH just gone to pick DD up early.

it has just started to rain here in the west midlands. we have had clear sunny weather, cloud and now rain. I shall come back later to look at glorias links... I am supposed to be clearing up and doing housework. I am making progress. slowly.

Raining in West Oxford

Hate it! Roads atrocious this morning, a 15 minute journey took me over an hour, lots of accidents. Looks pretty, but scary to drive in.

We've got a couple of cms of snow on the ground, and still snowing on and off. This is rare for here as too coastal (Lewis).

So when DD gets home from school we'd better get out there and make the most of this strange phenomenon

There's now an amber warning for snow from the metoffice, for some bits of Scotland, tonight and tomorrow.

humph. other peoples snow and tidying up are not a good combination..

tidying with crossed fingers is not easy...

We've just had a bit of a sleety shower here (Leicester). Temperature's been settled at 6C for most of the morning but it's dropping like a stone, at 4.3C at the moment!
And for those that like the cold (with my usual 'I hope I'm reading the charts right' along with 'it is a long way into the future when it comes to forecasting'!) this coming weekend and into next week doesn't look like there'll be much of a change in temperatures. It looks very brrrrr!

Chaos here in Dundee with the snow, we were trapped by car accidents couldnt get out of our area unless on foot..more to come woohoo!!

Well icy in Co Durham. We had a very slow, meandering around the shiny bits walk to school. Had a flurry of the white stuff, first thing, too - just to add to the texture on the pavement in front of our house, as that bit froze rock hard, as usual.

hello hello. Just got in after an almighty squally shower arrived just as I got on my bike. Slightly hairy moment when I got caught by a gust of wind going round the corner as did a lady with an umbrella. Dried off nicely now after the mini drowning and will catch up with the latest.
