Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

We've reached the dizzy heights of 6.5C today and it's raining at the moment. I'm trying to convince DDs that even if it's raining at midnight, my brother will still be letting off fireworks, even if he has to stand under an umbrella to light them!

Had a lovely walk on the Suffolk coast this afternoon. Gorgeous day and hardly a breeze.

Just in from work via a pals. It's getting breezy in Edinburgh now , but all was fine for the bells. Just doesn't feel like Hogmanay as it's 10C. Pre DD, I always remeber walking home on Jan 1st and it feeling like icey cold water trickling down my neck.....Right off to bed, or maybe pop into my neighbour's who are still partying...... Xmas Grin

Wishing you all a peaceful. prosperous and fluffy 2015. May your lums reek!Wink

Happy New Year to you all.

Grey & windy here (& me too, after last night!). Much warmer - +10C

georgedawes · 01/01/2015 12:55

We're in the peak district so can get a lot. I think we need winter tyres boxing day was very bad!

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/01/2015 19:05

It's a bit breezy out there Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 01/01/2015 19:15

Windy here too. Will have to tape the letter box down Hmm

kippersmum · 01/01/2015 21:41

We had F9 here earlier with horizontal rain. Traded one granddaughter for a dog to do the morning walk when I was with my parents. I'm used to bad weather but it was something else.

As an aside, anyone wanting a decent coat for all weathers check out the Lands End squall coat. It is pricey but absolutely brilliant. With hood fully zipped I didnt have to hold it up in F10 wind.

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/01/2015 21:52

Still howling out there and we're not even under the weather warning Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/01/2015 22:25

Blowing half a gale here too and with the woodburner going, nice music and monopoly it's been very cosy.

You have no idea how much i am pleased to hear this. 1. no panic about getting ds home for the start of school and 2. no problem getting to medical appointments and 3. I hate driving in and on snow in my current car, it scares me.

Thank you OYBBK Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2015 16:49

I am glad to be the bearer of glad tidings Grin
