Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Oh my god. We actually have snow here in Bournemouth !! It's a miracle. Quite a nice layer that I can see out of the window. But not very big flakes at the moment

swede I know, I stupidly said out loud about 2 weeks ago "ooh we might have snow" and now 5yr old DS thinks we "live in the worst place in the universe". Tiny sprinkling here in SE London this morning, might cheer him up!

Snow here too! Well I'm at my parents now and they don't have any but we had quite a covering at home.

A light dusting here -Isle Of Wight as predicted by the met office, it's now stopped and there won't be any more :(

Did anyone see the Halo moon last night?

So, for today, it looks like the SE will get a little more (and it's snowing properly here) then through the day it looks like the east will get some scattered snow showers. There is a danger that these will turn to rain by the coast.

As for tomorrow, I'm uncertain as to why the met office still have such a large warning out but we will see. Again tomorrow there is a danger that by the east coast it will be rain instead of snow, but if it's snow then once again Lincolnshire and Yorkshire could see a reasonable amount.

So happy to see proper snow in N Surrey at last...now to attempt the school run in it (and finally get to use my new snow boots which have been sitting in a cupboard for 2 years!).

Bit of a rubbish snow covering here in Surrey Hills. Only a couple of cm.

new weather thread
Started a bit early cos I'm back to typing on ipad and the thread kept locking up.

1cm of snow here today and it was utter carnage on the roads. snowed about 3am and then froze and guess what......the States of Jersey forgot to grit....

no need for huskies here

wet snow was lying in the fields earlier, but now the sun is beating down again.

Oh Pigletjohn I thought with the don't eat the yellow snow you were referencing the late F Zappa, (that's where the huskies go)

As for the snow, as per usual nothing worth writing home about

The moon looked amazing last night.

We had a thin covering of snow this morning, but it was all gone by lunchtime.

Snowing heavy here all morning but not settling.

Snowing here too this morning ~ outskirts of Brighton. It's not settling here yet either.
