Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Eek, slightly worried now at what Wednesday has to bring, given that OYBBK has mentioned Lincolnshire for Wednesday, but we have just had about an inch or so fall in the last hour

We have just had a 2 hour snow shower (Northants) and are now under the yellow warning area for tomorrow and Wednesday I am ignoring the fact that DH is flying home tomorrow from a business trip and he wouldn't appreciate coming back to bad weather.

Jersey, that is not fair. If home gets snowed in and I get nothing here, I will be cross.

Its snowing in northampton, just got dd up from bed to look out the window, i didnt think wd were getting it til tomorrow am.

Its not alot of snow i have to admit. Enough to coat the cars up my estate and the grass.

DH just drove home from work and says its a bit slippy.

We've got snow here (Leicester) as well ~ just a slight covering at the moment but looking at raintoday, looks like there'll be some more snow showers coming our way in the next few hours.

Its not alot but i just want a little bit lol. If it snows too much ill be walking to work and back tomorrow. which is a very long way.

There's a lovely arc of snow heading south through central England. Looks like it will reach the outskirts of London (and in a line roughly parallel with it) around midnight. Not long lasting but as it travels south it seems to be gaining in size.

That's interesting Jersey, my radar has it as sleet, so it's interesting that it's coming down as snow. You may catch some more later too.

If that's the system that's given us our snow, it looks like it'll have a productive night!

I think its coming down more as sleet now but was definately snow for a time

It has been snowing for a while in the Central South East. It's very very fluffy snow!

I've just been for a walk. It's so lovely, pretty, white & so quiet!

And no snow here again. Beginning to hate the weather sites, constant snow taunting and nothing for London! Nothing!
