Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

hoochymama Think I might leave off the snowdancing as well and make it more a 'snow/slow waltz' in the hope of slight coverings instead, as this morning was not fun. Everything's dripping and melting now ~ temperature is 3.4C

According to the BBC it's supposed to be 8 degrees here currently (Cornwall) but car says it is 6. Still being plagued by hailstorms on and off, though horrible gales of last night have finally passed. We're missing the ice, which is great as dc2 has a birthday party tomorrow morning, but are under a snow warning for Sunday and Monday. I bet we won't have a thing! Netweather is saying the largest chance of snow for us is on Tuesday.

Snow is melting nicely here. Although had to clear the drive again to prevent issues with ice. It is going to be treacherous if it freezes later! Really loving the clear blue skies though. It is nice and cheering.

Thank you OYBBK and Gloria. Even though I couldn't post last year,I always came here for the weather forecast,so have been lurking. We had about 1cm of snow overnight and it has all but melted now. I saw that 2 schools in Leicester had shut,so it must have been worse there than here.

Just seen the metoffice have got warnings for snow out for Tuesday already!

Tuesday may I think see the warning area change, I'm quite surprised that its not bigger, with refinement closer to the time.

Ooo under the warning for Tuesday. Bright, breezy and chilly here. The car was a bit of a £&@!* to scrape this morn. Npton area had snow, we had colder air and ice in our little N Bucks microclimate.

Urgh. Awful sore throat and cold has hit me, but we have a little snow in Surrey. Temp is already 1c. BBC day snow for next couple of hours and then rain, met office day sleet and then rain. Got a feeling met office will be right!

Covering of snow here too :) it looks quite wet and at 1.2c I don't think it will last long.

We've woken up to a sleety mix here (Leicester) and it's 1.3C
Looks like we're going to have an 'orrible day of cold and wet. Wonderful. We do still have a patchy covering of snow from yesterday though.

Loads of friends quite local to me are posting pictures on Facebook of snow but we just look like a giant's dandruff problem here.

It looked like someone had lightly dusted with icing sugar here. Technically snow, but you'd need a streets worth for a snowball . Still the kids won't be grazing their knuckles trying to make any, it's raining.
