Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

Despite being in the warning area, no ice, no snow just wind and rain Sad

JillJ72 · 31/01/2015 08:20

Every little flake or fluffball of snow counts!

We had a really hard frost going on at 2am. At 7am we had a v thin layer of snow instead. Now wet and slushy and cold. A day to let the chickens experience and share their thoughts on snow (for three of them it's their first sight of snow) - whereas the cat just looks resigned and gets on with it (his eighth winter with us; old hat now Grin ).

Glad you got some snow OYBBK!

KinkyDorito · 31/01/2015 08:20

Snowed at 7, now thawed and drizzling. The weather here is mostly contrary this week (Leeds). Sun one second, blizzard the next, then rain. I can't keep up. Roll on spring.

KinkyDorito · 31/01/2015 08:21

7am

magimedi · 31/01/2015 08:30

Hard ffrost here (East Sussex coast) at 6.00am - now warmed up & just starting to rain.

No sign of snow - yay!!

atticusclaw · 31/01/2015 08:47

Heavy snow here in Notts

booface · 31/01/2015 08:49

Light dusting of snow here in West Kent and from the forecast we could be in for it a bit heavier tomorrow!

MegBusset · 31/01/2015 08:57

Nothing in Norfolk :( I would really love it to dump it down tomorrow, give us a couple of snow days then melt overnight without leaving any ice!

dingit · 31/01/2015 08:58

MrsVamos I'll go sledging with you. Am already up North (Edinburgh) but if DH doesn't find snow with DD today ( forgot I was working today Sad ) it looks like I'll be spending 1/2 term going up to Aviemore or the Lecht.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/01/2015 09:49

Still no snow in this part of the SW. Not sure it's ever going to snow here.

PestoSnowissimos · 31/01/2015 10:25

Woke up to a light dusting this morning and subsequently we have had some heavy snow. It seems to have stopped now though. Sooooo glad I did the Costco run yesterday Grin

Endler32 · 31/01/2015 10:35

No snow here either, was raining when I woke up Sad.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2015 12:26

Wow they're confusing oybbk!

WhispersOfWickedness · 31/01/2015 13:09

Well, that was unexpected. The forecast for us for this morning was cloud, followed by sleet. Which of course meant that it snowed for the whole morning Confused Now it says it is snowing heavily, but it has actually stopped Hmm So now I don't know what to believe Grin Snow was good, it has gone quite slushy now though as it is fairly warm (2ish degrees).
I'm in the Lincolnshire Wolds, btw Smile

GerundTheBehemoth · 31/01/2015 13:22

It snowed rather wetly for about an hour at 7ish this morning, but didn't settle. I set off for my 10am aikido class (a 10-minute train journey away) and then got a text to say class was cancelled because of all the snow!

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 31/01/2015 13:40

We weren't forecast snow today, but as I went down to do the sheep and ponies at 9,we had a blizzard. It snowed heavily for an hour, but it has all gone now. Pony club was cancelled due to the icy roads.

MrsVamos · 31/01/2015 14:20

Got up this morning and it was snowing ! Big Grin

Vamosbitch had a lovely walk, her little tootsies must have been freezing but she's a hardy lass !

Exciting to see warnings for Tuesday, I shall wait & hope !

I think we might get another little snow shower later.

Peri

Oh, Aviemore, I'm there with you ! Love the place.

Smile
FatJerseyPostXmasSpud · 31/01/2015 14:27

I feel tricked, disappointed and disgruntled.

No snow here :(

GloriaSmud · 31/01/2015 17:03

I'm not surprised we're not covered by the snow weather warning for Tuesday anymore ~ early this morning we were covered by the warning without any snow actually being forecast! Confused

LumpySpacedPrincess · 31/01/2015 17:17

We have heavy snow forecast for the morning, which then turns to heavy rain.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 31/01/2015 17:21

Just looked out the window and it's snowing, it was forecast as heavy rain! Grin
