Following on from the Boxing Day snow thread we have weather warnings from the met office for snow down part of the east coast and widespread ice. Around Northampton could also see some snow today. Take care over night and into tomorrow morning.

The theme of rather cold carries on through this week, especially away from western coasts. Some central areas could struggle to get above 0C even in the day time. Some sharp frosts. The next few days look dry and cold, with perhaps some freezing fog, especially over any snow fields. At the moment it looks like things might become milder through Thursday with rain moving in. GFS disagrees with this though and keeps things cold.

GFS then keeps teasing with a possibly dramatic return to school snow wise for some. Its a long way ahead but as ever I will keep you updated. However i may not be always able to answer specific questions due to real life so if you need to know urgently please check out the met office

ok, I have to admit I would actually quite like the snow to bugger off now. I am on call on Tuesday night, then have to travel form South Yorks to W Mids for a funeral on Weds (after dropping dc to school) then have to get back in time to collect dc....and there is yellow warning for snow already for Tues/Weds...this is not going to go well is it?

I am the same Hyper, this is the 3rd day of it now and I am fed up, I want it all to be gone by Monday morning so life can get back to normal. I would make a rubbish Norwegian

I was so excited when the first warning came in and the upgrading to 'Amber' alert for snow. We've had nothing!!

Almost all the snow that fell on Wednesday has gone!

Our snow melted away yesterday but have woken up to another light covering this morning - Yay!!!

I know 2013 snow was fab!!! I have 4/5 different weather apps saying snow for Tuesday now.....dare we believe them????!!!

We could believe them!! 2013 was so epic i got snowed in....in town!

4 days of snow....beautiful snow....

One of my weather apps says snow for Tuesday night, another says snow for Thursday, we havn't had any yet ( apart from a small flurry last Thursday bit not enough to settle ), I'm trying not to get my hopes up but this is the first time I have seen a picture of 2 snow flakes for us.

nothing for Tuesday for us either and a 15% chance for Thursday.

I want lots and lots and lots of snow! we had a bit yesterday morning at about 7.30 ish, but not enough.

Updated metoffice weather warnings for ice and snow over the next few days. We're covered for snow for Wednesday though think at the moment, if it reaches Leicester, it'll be more an overnight into Thursday thing rather than daytime Wednesday.

Can't see any let up in the cold ~ Netweather's forecast for the next week or two.

yeah, yeah. we have been under the yellow warnings multiple times this winter, have we had snow that lasted, have we fuck.

now what can I plan for wednesday that would be disrupted by snow?

what blackeyed said. The met office has given us too many warnings, only for them to fizzle out at the last minute . it's a very odd winter.
