Keeping a small eye on Sunday/Mondays weather

It probably won't come off but I'm keeping a bit of an eye on Sunday and Monday.

Models show remnants of hurricane Bertha coming close to our shores and develop them in different ways. It's hard (for me) to de tangle which bit are Bertha but the results are, either nothing to worry about at at all (most likely scenario) or some potentially wild and wooly weather as two of the models develop some pretty tight gradient lows for this time of year.

GFS takes it across northern Scotland bringing windy weather to the north, ECMWF brings it across southern and central England bringing windy weather to the south. UKMO just produces a slack low which could bring in plenty of rain.

Will update with developments.

If you are towards the south west mummylin you are now in the cold sector. Sharp showers a good possibility and some strong winds potentially.

MakeMeJumpIntoTheAir · 10/08/2014 10:59

Kent - Thunder and heavy rain now

Llareggub · 10/08/2014 11:01

It's just thundered with lightening in Swansea.

digerd · 10/08/2014 11:08

S.Herts.

Sky is one shade of pale grey - doesn't look like thunderstorm weather.
Well, it has less than an hour to break up and let the sunshine through Hmm and hopeful face Smile

AlpacaLypse · 10/08/2014 11:10

Hakluyt I'll take a bit of everything please... will need to build up my strength to see what's become of my poor tent when I get down to Dorset tomorrow Sad

LumpySpacedPrincess · 10/08/2014 11:16

Wind has just started to get up in East Kent.

bananaskin123 · 10/08/2014 11:19

Digerd are you coming to my "do" in Herts???!!! 12.30 is kick off time. Please let the sunshine.

FruVikingessOla · 10/08/2014 11:23

SW London again. Sky still cloudy, but rain stopped and sun trying to come out!

oldsilver · 10/08/2014 11:27

Very soggy this morning in Bristol, seems to be coming in waves - no wind as such.

Hope you enjoyed the balloony stuff yesterday KCADW. At least I can say I have seen a typhoon of the fixed wing variety now.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/08/2014 11:34

Cardiff area - heavy rain through the night and this morning (both rugby training cancelled - hooray!) . Then clear blue skies, now clouding over again. Very light winds at the moment.

I heard a rumble of thunder about an hour ago but nothing more sinister than that.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/08/2014 11:35

Bit breezy and showery here in Suffolk.

Is the thunder and heavy rain heading our way?

bananaskin
I think the sky is getting lighter. Good luck for your "do".

BadRoly · 10/08/2014 11:41

Just come to see what's happening as I'm torn - sunny but windy here in SW Cornwall. Lots of big white fluffy clouds racing across the sky.

My washing has just finished though - should I tumble it or risk the line?!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/08/2014 11:43

The rain is back with a vengeance! I can barely see the other side of the road.

At least our water butts will be full again!

123rd · 10/08/2014 11:53

Thunder and quite heavy rain in soggy suffolk

Iactuallydothinkso · 10/08/2014 11:55

Awaiting the arrival in norwich. All looking a bit dull. Wind picking up. Light rain.

GloriaSmud · 10/08/2014 11:56

Still torrential, gutters still overflowing here! On raintoday, we seem to be on the edge of a band of rain feeding up from the SW and it doesn't seem to be moving much.

Pressure 991.9 Not much wind though ~ highest gust was 11mph at 9.55am

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/08/2014 12:03

Worth paying attention to the new wind warnings that have been introduced for to today.

Badroly, if you are risking it peg it very well!

GloriaSmud · 10/08/2014 12:09

Just noticed the updated warnings. Wind for us as well ~ oh joy!
I've also just noticed how much the temperature's dropped here ~ it was 15.1c at 10.47 and now it's 14.3C.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/08/2014 12:25

Yes it's tipping it down here in north east Suffolk and I also just heard a long low rumble of thunder.

I think the poor old dog is going to have to do without a walk today. He doesn't like the rain and thunder.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/08/2014 12:27

Ooh that was a big rumble of thunder.
