Weather warnings for saturday

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/07/2014 13:05

from the met office

They are very broad based at the moment because as is ever with thunderstorms, you can have all the right conditions for them but actually predicting whether and where they will trigger is a big challenge.

Warning is for torrential rain as a result of thunderstorms which may also bring hail and strong wind.

Kitten - any idea about the Somerset area (specifically, Shepton Mallet)?

LeapingOverTheWall · 16/07/2014 18:29

OYBBK fingers crossed their map reading skills are up to it Grin.

SingSongSlummy · 16/07/2014 19:02

herc hope it stays dry for Orchestival. I wanted to go as we're just down the road in Wells, but will be away suffering a thunderstorm in a caravan for the weekend instead.

HercShipwright · 16/07/2014 19:09

I'm performing. [hmmm] Not hugely looking forward to driving over 50 miles (I think - distances aren't my greatest thing) in torrential rain to find out the outside programme has been scrapped! Or worse, to find out it's going ahead with no audience and with our expensive instruments getting soaked! The kids are looking forward to Noyes Fludde though (huge Wes Andersen fans).

SingSongSlummy · 16/07/2014 19:54

Oh no, will keep fingers crossed for you. I was Mrs Noye many years ago in my Mezzo days - great piece

BarefootShirl · 16/07/2014 20:20

Don't know about elsewhere but they seem to be playing down the forecast for Essex now compared to the bad weather they were predicting yesterday so hopefully it will turn out better than we thought.

rubyflipper · 16/07/2014 20:49

Thanks for the alert, kitten. Guess we'll have to take our chances!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/07/2014 20:57

Not yet Herc though Somerset may see some stuff tomorrow night.

Double fuck. Oh well hopefully it will be all gone by saturday morning!!

My sil is getting her horse in Friday and keeping him in just in case as last time lightening hit her field!

Perihelion · 16/07/2014 23:39

Had an excellent squall line pass through Central Scotland/Edinburgh this afternoon. Sky went black, gusts of 40mph and a big drop in temp. No lightning though.
Apart from that weather has in general been okay for summer, even summery...I almost have a tan Grin

MasqueradeWaltzer · 16/07/2014 23:42

My birthday on Sat and the dds are worried I'll get struck by lightning on my way out to dinner in south Dorset. Any odds?

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 17/07/2014 00:00

Latitude Festival starts tomorrow and continues till Sunday. East Suffolk. Quite glad I'm not going now.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 17/07/2014 00:22

Well it feels more like singapore than England today with the humidity, so I'll be a little glad when it passes.

But tis my friends wedding on Saturday ...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2014 07:50

Very cool Perihelion :)

No change in my forecast. Round one perhaps in the SW tonight and ESTOFEX have issued a level 1 alert for much of the SW.

Main storms still look to be tomorrow night and through Saturday with I think the SE being at highest risk Friday night and central and southern England Saturday, though storms could break out pretty much anywhere (and as always there is no guarantee for those regions, storms are tickly things!)

masquerade, somewhere buried on my main pc I have statistics if you need them Grin

Think its unlikely though!

Ugh, we are supposed to be driving from Manchester to London on Saturday and stopping off at Warwick castle en route!! Honestly!! Could go tomorrow night after school but I see it's meant to start tomorrow.

Going to see if I can find more details online

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2014 12:53

Very mean of the weather to align itself with the weekend.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 17/07/2014 14:24

Usually does doesn't it? Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2014 14:56

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/07/2014 01:24
