from the met office

They are very broad based at the moment because as is ever with thunderstorms, you can have all the right conditions for them but actually predicting whether and where they will trigger is a big challenge.

Warning is for torrential rain as a result of thunderstorms which may also bring hail and strong wind.

In East Surrey. The sky to the south east is very very dark and it has gone eerily silent. Is the storm on it's way?

I think I can hear the distant rumble of thunder (although it might be my neighbour moving his furniture Grin)

That I believe is a very impressive example of a shelf cloud.

Very windy, still very quiet though. Low rumblings and random sheet lightning.

Sweet pea, Sunday is def your best bet! It might not be dry, you might pick up some heavy showers in the afternoon but I would absolutely choose it over tomorrow.

Fetcham. That's not too far away.

It's all eerie and glowing here. Love it. Ds slept through last night's storm.

In kent downs the weather has just been crazy! Very suddenly became extremely windy, completely out of the blue like a gale. Is it because we are at the edge of the huge storm?

Shitting it. Kent coast, hate storms. Sky has blackened in a matter of minutes. Hope it gets over and done with quickly.

If you are on fb check out UK weather discussion. There are pictures on there that I would never have imagined taking place in the UK!

South Wales - amber warming for thunder, it's been hot and sunny all day.

Report
JuniperTisane · 18/07/2014 21:03

No. Nothing else. Is there a chance the rain will be west of us and we won't see any at all?

fairlyuseless - we had a sky like that this morning - had a bit of thunder and rain but very little.

It's absolutely baking here - we're at 28c and it's 9pm. I just have a thin layer of sweat everywhere, despite a fan and all windows open. DP is stark bollock naked. I rarely sweat profusely...so it must be humid!

FolknNorah · 18/07/2014 21:04

Ok, so could everyone with fans please aim them my way so we get the storms? Although better tomorrow.

In London. Sky completely grey/yellow and weirdly lumpy looking. Hot and muggy but I get the feeling it's going to be a few hours before it breaks.
