Weather warnings for saturday

They are very broad based at the moment because as is ever with thunderstorms, you can have all the right conditions for them but actually predicting whether and where they will trigger is a big challenge.

Warning is for torrential rain as a result of thunderstorms which may also bring hail and strong wind.

is any of this headed my way, does anyone know? It's bloody boiling here (West Hertfordshire) and we really could do with rain! We're not THAT far from Oxford.

Kitten I've followed a few of your weather threads but have only been on MN less than a year. Do you mind me asking what you do? I'm guessing you have a weather related job

Kitten, please, what is a hook and echo signature? The hail was pea sized. The rain came down in torrents. All my flowers are smashed! Sob. The lightening was all over the place!

From looking at the lightning maps it seems to be heading in our direction!

Interesting but not wildly exciting! Cumnimb building up above, lower layer of darker cloud moving more quickly below. Looking at lightning radar, looks like it may arrive more towards north side of Milton Keynes, and if so we may be able to enjoy the lightning display from a distance (lightning's not my favourite and my best, but these storms have been quite incredible to watch (with eyes squinting to reduce the "aargh lightning" effect!!)).

It looks as if the heat may build again this week. I've not looked very closely, been a bit preoccupied with the storm set up!

mckayz, there is or was a pretty good weather module which gives some good basics.

Bah humbug, they've changed it to non credit giving here shame. It also gave a decent discount to being a Royal Met society member with their very good Weather magazine.

Its hammering down now in North Wales bad hail stobes too. No thunder though :(
