It's icy here today, not majorly as quite a soft frost. Definitely different to the plus temperatures we've been having.

pigsinmud · 05/01/2014 09:10

0.2 here at 9am in Surrey Hills. Frosty, blue sky and calm - quite a pleasant change! I'll clean out my chickens this morning before the rain hits this afternoon.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 09:34

We reached -1c but it is +1 now and already clouding over :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 09:36

Will start a new thread in a little bit, this one is nearly full.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/01/2014 09:45

Clouding over here too. The sky was amazing here this morning I got a really good picture.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 09:53

:)
Perhaps I shouldn't have been asleep!

If you are a cold lover then look away now.....

There has been some talk of the weather turning more seasonal. It does look set to calm down after Tuesday but it remains unsettled. There may be more in the way of snow esp for northern hilly areas and perhaps to lower levels. However if you look to the east, Europe remains warmer than expected for this time of year according to GFS and at the end of the model run on the 20th of Jan the jet stream wins again with another deep low. This year it may be that the jet stream is too strong for any blocking highs to win out. We shall see.

There seems to be a band of rapidly advancing rain on the radar. We may not be getting the break from rain for a few hours that we had hoped for.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/01/2014 10:16

Before mid afternoon as earlier predicted? So glad I don't have to go anywhere today. The road will be flooded tomorrow though which means an extra long nursery run.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 10:37

I'm actually not sure now! Rain reaches the IOW by lunchtime. Could have sworn it was faster earlier.
This band of rain doesn't look to heavy on the radar at least.

Managed a trip to the park with the LOs this morning Shock
Plenty of mud and puddles about but was lovely to just get out.

Fed up of grey skies and rain.

Marne · 05/01/2014 13:51

We managed to pop out today feel much better now, we had a frost but it soon disappeared so we snuck out for a hour before it started raining, winds starting to pick up now but the rains not very heavy (hopefully it will stay that way).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 13:56

Rain band doesn't actually look too bad today on the radar :)

That's the good news.

met office warnings out for high winds tomorrow along southern and western coasts once again bringing the risk of coastal flooding.

DameDeepRedBetty · 05/01/2014 14:06

Have you seen that surfer thing Kitten magicseaweed.com/news/atlantic-code-red-incoming/5954/ ?

Also I think time for a new thread in case this one fills up.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 14:14

Will start one in a mo when I'm on the computer. I hadn't looked at magic seaweed recently. Just got something else flooding related to sort out first. Grrrr.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 14:37
