Someone should tell the Met Office that it's blowing a hoolie in South Shropshire despite there being no warnings for the West Midlands...

LostInWales · 18/12/2013 17:56

Holy crap the squall line just passed us and I can't believe how much rain fell at once. Had to go and unblock the gutter as the rain was running down the hill and into my garden rather than the drain, I was out for a minute tops and look like I've been swimming Grin

HesterShaw · 18/12/2013 17:58

I think it's the high tide and the rain which will be causing problems here. Both have now thankfully past.

Bramblesinforrin · 18/12/2013 18:02

Very very windy here. Waiting for the rain now.

Bramblesinforrin · 18/12/2013 18:03

Ah and here it is.

GloriaSmud · 18/12/2013 18:06

Lost ~ think you can see your squall line showing up nicely here at the moment.

We've had quite a lot of gusts this afternoon but still haven't gone past the 22mph we had at 1.25pm. I've had to go and weight down the plastic cover over the patio table as it was blowing about and an archway that I'm attempting to train some honeysuckle up, is looking a bit unreliable and wobbling a lot!

HesterShaw · 18/12/2013 18:09

Interesting! No wonder I had rain coming into the actual house through all sorts of tiny cracks and gaps! I had a small blue bit go over!

GloriaSmud · 18/12/2013 18:13

DD1 and I were just looking at it and think at the rate it's moving, it'll be another 1 to 1 1/4 hours before it reaches us here.

FrigideBarjot · 18/12/2013 18:17

Oh that's all I need. Cross Channel ferry crossing on Friday. Hope it's over by then

HesterShaw · 18/12/2013 18:18

Frigide, I think there might be a new one by then Shock

Which crossing are you doing?

South Cornwall here and very strong gusts and heavy rain.

zebrafinch · 18/12/2013 18:31

Not too far from you JadedAngel. Don't go out, I managed to make it to the bus stop in the last half hour but had to turn back home, the shelter was rocking I thought the wind would lift it!

HesterShaw · 18/12/2013 18:32

All these Corns coming out of the woodwork! And to think when we had a meet up, THREE of us came along! :o

mateysmum · 18/12/2013 18:34

Really wild here in Somerset. Sounds worse than it did in the much hyped storm last month. I'm felling drafts where I didn't know we had them.

It was last winter, to be fair. Or maybe two years ago?

zebrafinch · 18/12/2013 18:38

Waves at Hester

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 18/12/2013 18:40

I'm not far from you Gloria & it's v windy here now. Dog far from impressed & refusing to go out.

MrGeresHamster · 18/12/2013 18:43

East Devon is raging at the moment. It's horrible out there...

ipodtherforipoor · 18/12/2013 18:45

Plymouth is about to float away! 2 hrs later and I'm still not home - a whole 1.5miles from work!

LostInWales · 18/12/2013 18:49

Just out to pick up DS2 and we drove through four proper deep floods (thank goodness for a 4x4). Just seen all the fire engines go out so I hope they let us get back home Shock

snozzlemaid · 18/12/2013 18:54

Very rough here in st austell. Dp is out driving a double decker too!

littleredsquirrel · 18/12/2013 18:56

Very noisy outside here in Notts. The wind is really getting up.

mankyscotslass · 18/12/2013 19:11

I'm just back from Carol singing with DD at the community library - It was windy but the rain never started til the end.

By the time we had walked home we were soaked!
