Going to be an eventful few days. Have been discussing it in te Christmas weather thread but I think they need highlighting. met office warnings

OP posts:

If he wanted to play it round here he would need wellies all of our local pitches are more like paddling pools and I suspect the council have closed them to teams.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2014 13:53

Unfortunately where he plays is on a slope! Still sure it'll be very muddy... (I say unfortunately as I would rather he was at home!)

GloriaSmud · 04/01/2014 14:17

Rain might be easing off here.
I've just been out in the back garden to put some bread out for the birds. We seem to have gained several ponds, especially where the grass ends and the flower beds start. I gave up trying to reach the bird table at the end of the garden and just left the bread on the grass

(Think a 'Metoffice warnings: Part 2' thread might be needed if this weather carries on.)

FourAndDone · 04/01/2014 14:21

OYBBK- what should we expect tomorrow in weather terms? Iv heard and read so many contrasting theories that I just getting confused and have forgotten most of it Blush

youarewinning · 04/01/2014 14:50

DS and I have just enjoyed a walk along the promenade. Tides are high but much calmer seas. Different picture from yesterday. And by the sounds of it it will be bad again tomorrow?

South coast of Hampshire.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 14:59

It depends where you are 4&done.

Geckos48 · 04/01/2014 15:11

The river is breaking its banks here in salisbury, I am worried as one of the main route is dangerously close to being flooded, especially if this doesn't let up soon

MillyRules · 04/01/2014 16:07

Very calm, no rain, no wind here .

Under Mt. Snowdon in North Wales.Smile

Marne · 04/01/2014 16:26

We have some blue sky (sun going down), I think they give a frost for tonight down south? I am hoping we can visit FIL in the morning before the rain sets in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 16:48

met office have some ice warnings out now but given how close so many areas are forecast to get to almost 0C tomorrow I think much of the UK should be prepared in case the temps end up being lower than forecast.

Can you imagine if this lot froze?! I'm not expecting widespread subzero temps but it would be a nightmare on top of the existing nightmares.

Geckos48 · 04/01/2014 16:50

Phew! Not this far south yet thank goodness.

FourAndDone · 04/01/2014 17:40

I'm in the midlands. Not really affected at all. I just meant generally as very concerned for othersSad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 17:54

Oh ok :)

Some potential ice around first thing then heavy rain spreading from the west in the morning reaching almost all parts of England and Scotland by mid afternoon. Gale force winds. Not as strong as we've seen though. Rain clears away in the early hours of Monday morning. More flooding I'm afraid is likely, but I think the tide issues isn't due to be as bad though. Monday needs watching out for tide wise.

FourAndDone · 04/01/2014 18:04

Thanks for that.Smile
I was worried as hearing horror stories that we are going to get the storm from New York.
That is all we need Sad

Mirage · 04/01/2014 19:21

Ugh,the brook has broken its banks in the village, and we have some sheep in a field further downstream,so at 4.30,in the dark,I had to go and make sure they weren't stuck on one of the 'islands'.Stupid creatures, they have a huge sloping field, but every last one had marooned themselves on the low lying ground right next to the brook. It had totally cut them off and I didn't have time to go back for the dogs and a torch,so had wade over and herd them out on my own.I think I got them all,but it was too dark and dangerous to hang about or wade any further.I'll have to wait until it gets light before I go back.As the saying goes,'if you've got livestock, you've got deadstock'.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2014 19:29

Oh no mirage Sad

I used to work for someone who had cattle and they were frequently getting stuck in the river Hmm silly animals

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 19:47

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 21:35

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 21:45

Can I reiterate the ice warning. I'm down to 3c in my garden. Need to hope temps don't keep dropping.

oadcb · 04/01/2014 22:40

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2014 22:57

leesmum · 04/01/2014 23:25

Frost already settling on cars here in nth Manchester, really feel for those of you that have been affected by the recent bad weather, let's hope this is the beginning of the end of it all.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/01/2014 07:26

Frosty here. Glad we haven't got to go out as it's five miles to the main road where it will be gritted.

digerd · 05/01/2014 07:34
