As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

Mo - you may catch some sleet or snow over night :)

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2012 12:05

Thanks chick. Typically, I have a new car, which is far better than all the others I've had and I'd feel totally confident driving in the snow in it. However, it's all the other buggers I don't trust, so I probably won't drive it!

marssparklesdownonme · 05/02/2012 12:06

Six to seven inches in my garden and driveway here in Norfolk.
Just been to look at the cars. Think we're going to be digging to get them out of the driveway this afternoon or struggling in the morning.

PeneloPeePitstop · 05/02/2012 12:14

would the far SE include us? Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 05/02/2012 12:19

8cm in Lincs and I've got to go to work. Hoping I get there and back home tonight.

Panfriedstardust · 05/02/2012 12:21

if you have a car with half a ton of snow sat on it, it would be a good idea to brush it all off before it all freezes tonight.
Also, when walking in snow/ice, lean slightly foward more than usual -very few slips happen when one falls fwd, it's usually when you are upright or leaning slightly back.

PeneloPeePitstop · 05/02/2012 12:25

Met office site going bonkers again.
You can see on the home page we're under a yellow warning for ice tomorrow.... but when you click it vanishes.

musicposy · 05/02/2012 12:30

MegGriffin we are West Sussex and have nothing
Am guessing you are not near us (we're South Coast, near Hants border)

DH has to drive to Gatwick to work later. Anyone up that way tell me about the roads? Should I make him get the train?

lubeybooby · 05/02/2012 12:31

Grrrrrrrrrrr! it's now 3c, and it's all melted and slushy. I am outraged, how dare you weather! Angry

Wait all winter for snow, get a lovely amount and then it all melts. bastards.

mankyscotslass · 05/02/2012 12:31

Just back from the park, it was surprisingly quiet. A couple of centimetres lying, no sign of it melting.

So we more or less had the park to ourselves for snowball fights, snowmen and snow angels.

The geese on the reservoir were swimming around the only area of open water - the rest had a good 1-2cm of ice covering it!

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2012 12:34

Same here lubey. What a swizz. Sad

TangerinePuppet · 05/02/2012 12:37

Southampton here.

No snow whatsoever Sad I could cry! Was getting so excited about playing in the snow with my 2 year old. Maybe next year!

Envy of all those with several inches!

GloriaSmud · 05/02/2012 12:43

Just been for a lovely walk over some fields near us. Not many people had been there and it was all lovely and white. As we started out along a field, we spotted a fox near a hedge. Temp was 4C when we left but it's now dropped to 3C and we've also got mist as well, which makes it seem colder.

DD3's just found some left over Christmas crackers and is wearing a paper hat. Snow might have been a bit late for Christmas time but she's determined to be festive now the white stuff's arrived!

Dawndonna · 05/02/2012 12:47

About 6 inches in North Suffolk. Cleared the car, but as I live at the bottom of a 1:4 I won't be going anywhere for a while!

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2012 12:48

Perfect day to stop in and eat yummy Marmalade Cake Dawn. Wink

LottieJenkins · 05/02/2012 12:55

DawnDonna Im in North Suffolk too!!!

ExitPursuedByaBear · 05/02/2012 12:57

Loads here in Saddleworth. In fact, the reporter on the 6pm news last night was standing in Uppermill. Think it is starting to thaw.

hellokittyrules · 05/02/2012 12:59

had quite alot last nite rain in night had melted most justenough for sledging pulled dd1 on sledge to mini tesco down the road

Northernlurker · 05/02/2012 13:04

Plenty here in North Yorkshire. 60 accidents in it last night including one involving 4 cars on Sutton Bank - the highest point for miles around with an incredibly steep gradiant - WHY anybody went near it I have no clue!

We have sledged this morning and I've done some clearing so now I can stay put for the rest of the day. We skipped church

Taffeta · 05/02/2012 13:06

Kent , about 13cm. Have made big snowman, done sledging ( they are out again doing some extreme version in the village with DH , I'm "making lunch" Grin ), and had a few snowball fights.

Very cold, nothing melting. Had a tractor up to clear the road this am, but the gritter doesn't come up this far. Sad

l4k · 05/02/2012 13:22

just come back from taking kids sledging ,we have about 6-8 inches here on the east coast but some drifts are about Knee high.

marssparklesdownonme · 05/02/2012 13:33

Cleaned cars of snow . DH just returned in for cup of tea after clearing part of drive for cars to get out. DD (5) fell over in snow because its so deep outside the house , she couldn't walk.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 13:36

PPP - fraid not! bbc are saying it will be rain but I dont think I agree with that, I still think it will be sleet/snow.

Gloria - that is very sweet of your dd :)

nannynick · 05/02/2012 13:39

Just having a rest from clearing snow... have done 3 hours of clearing so far.

Had about an inch here in West Surrey. Is melting now, making clearing the roads a bit easier.

Lost a glove whilst clearing snow. Someone has just tweeted me to say they have seen it on one of the roads I was clearing earlier... so I'd better go and find that.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 13:43

you are really going to ache tomorrow!
