As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

Just went out with a ruler - 7cms.

GentleOtter · 05/02/2012 10:04

Only a tiny dusting of snow here.

greenplastictrees · 05/02/2012 10:05

I'm Warwickshire/Northants border.

lubeybooby · 05/02/2012 10:07

10cms here in sw leicestershire. It seems to be melting quite fast though :( I hope it lasts through another coffee and me getting suitably dressed, I wanna make a snowman!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 10:09

Hulababy have looked at gfs for you for next weekend. It looks pretty dry (if still cold) for England and wales. Scotland..... does show some hill snow I think. But tis a week away, lets see how it evolves.....

ObviouslyOblivious · 05/02/2012 10:09

12cms north London outskirts.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 10:10

MollieO - rather likely to be an icy start to tomorrow I'm afraid.

flatbellyfella · 05/02/2012 10:20

Sat in my room looking out at just green grass, the little bit we had on the floor is now gone in the Weston area of Bath. Sun is shining.Smile

Hulababy · 05/02/2012 10:26

OYBBK - fingers crossed, thanks. From here quickest way to airport is over Snake Pass (A57) up and over the peaks, but can go longer way is necessary - so long as airport is open and working, we will get there!

Only booked the holiday yesterday as so fed up of the cold, lol!

Hulababy · 05/02/2012 10:29

The little snow drifts are fab! They look like mini sand dunes in a desert of white. Only trouble last night was the fact they one minute I walked on compacted hard snow and then snow was over my boots!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 10:42

snake pass + snow = very exciting!!! (when it is open!)

Doncaster and approx 11cm, not able to make snowmen though, its far too powdery! can't even make a snowball :(

TeWihara · 05/02/2012 10:53

I think it melted a bit, but total was 9cm here in south northants Grin

We have 3 snowmen.

jollydiane · 05/02/2012 10:54

Just measured and we have 12cm. That's the most I can remember in years.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 10:54

ice is going to be a real problem through the week I'm afraid for many with sub zero temps at night for the eastern side. dh is going to clear our drive so any re-freeze doesnt leave us stuck.

the sodden have returned, having ticked off snow ball fight and sledging. I think snowman building has been removed from the list as its a bit squidgy. So hot chocolates and brownies are now being consumed.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 10:56

(btw - we made discussion of the day :) )

iseenodust · 05/02/2012 10:57

DS reports sledging conditions v good. Hound reports very tasty snow. GrinSun shining & bright blue skies. What a lovely Sunday morning.

TheHumancatapult · 05/02/2012 10:57

At least ten cm here in Central Cambridge, possibly more...

Very powdery and dry, almost impossible to make snowmen.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 11:06

coconutty -
cream 8 oz brown sugar with 4oz butter. Add in a teaspoon or so of orange essence then beat in 2 eggs.
sift 3oz flour, 2 oz cocoa powder and a teaspoon of baking powder. Fold into above.
Scrape mixture into an 8 inch square tin (or thereabouts) and poke in squares of chocolate or bits of date or whatever.
Bake for 35 mins at 180. Leave to get coolish in tin then cut up.

THC - I think that is the most reported so far :)

Interested in reports around heathrow!

flamingtoaster · 05/02/2012 11:10

Just measured the snow - 18cm here in Essex. Been fantastic for tobogganing though!

cobwebthegrey · 05/02/2012 11:10

5 inches between yesterday afternoon and this morning, woo hoooooooooo! :o

cobwebthegrey · 05/02/2012 11:11
