funkybuddah · 05/02/2012 11:17

Loads in london last night, just a smattering and slush in north hamphire.

I did get stuck in London overnight but not due to the weather, due to drinking, carousing, fun time having.

SO lengthy trips on a few night buses before snatching 3 hrs sleep on my sisters boyfriends couch lol

JumpJockey · 05/02/2012 11:18

14cm in our garden in Cambridge Grin

Lilymaid · 05/02/2012 11:21

Around about 15cm in Cambridge area - city almost ground to stand still last night. We had a 10 mile (plus change to normal route) drive home to our village as the main roads were blocking up with cars (rear wheel drive) that couldn't manage any inclines. I think we got into 3rd gear a couple of times!
No sign of a thaw here yet.

VeryLittleGravitas · 05/02/2012 11:23

4 inches in N.Surrey Grin

The kids have a snowman, an igloo and soggy socks.

Ponders · 05/02/2012 11:27

marking spot Grin

we had 4-5cm last night (posted on old thread) after it stopped in E Lancs - misty this morning & a very gradual thaw

VerityClinch · 05/02/2012 11:30

About seven inches in deepest darkest Kent Smile

LittenTree · 05/02/2012 11:34

Half a centimetre, if that, which rapidly melted about 20 minutes after it had fallen- south Hants. Bah.

Ponders · 05/02/2012 11:42

kitten, I have to go from Lancs to see DS2 in Sheffield on Tuesday - my preferred route is via Woodhead Pass (it's generally beautiful) but would I be safer going M62 & down via Huddersfield do you think?

It's further, & very boring, but takes similar amount of time & is possibly less risky?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 11:45

I think it would be a sensible option ponders. Fog looks rather likely on Tuesday, so I wouldn't worry about the view too much. although I don't expect further snow in that area, temps will be going low over night so ice could be a problem.

lubeybooby · 05/02/2012 11:46

Really melting fast now in +2c. Bum.

bebejones · 05/02/2012 11:49

About 1cm yesterday (Gloucestershire) which melted overnight :( (Think we had rain) So this morning we had frozen slush, ice & freezing fog!

My mum is in Cambridgeshire & has about 10-12cm & can't get her car off her driveway! Envy

PigletJohn · 05/02/2012 11:49

I have a trip round the M25 and the South, decided not to go last night as the snow forecast looked bad. I am hoping it will be fairly clear by now. Any bad spots known?

MegGriffin · 05/02/2012 11:50

Ours does not seem to be melting yet. (west Sussex) We are off sledging this afternoon.

CointreauVersial · 05/02/2012 11:50

We have six inches (15cm) here in Surrey, but we are quite high up, near Epsom Downs, so always get more than surrounding areas. I have just got back from a sledging trip with the DCs and am defrosting with a cappuchino.

The roads are slushy, but I think we'll all be back at work/school tomorrow - boo.

CointreauVersial · 05/02/2012 11:51

PigletJohn - M25 running fine through Surrey.

Lio · 05/02/2012 11:53

5.5 inches in Stevenage.

denialandpanic · 05/02/2012 11:53

Kids have had a good play and we had an exciting walk to sainsburys cafe, kids now had enough so its inside with dvds for rest of day. I shovelled our paths but think it could be a waste of time as its all going to melt. Hopefully school will be open tomorrow.

Panfriedstardust · 05/02/2012 11:53

Ponders - am pretty sure the Woodhead will be closed - I am atthe Glossop end and our roads are stuffed with snow, tho' very slowly melting.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 05/02/2012 11:54

Does look like sleet or snow showers likely in the early hours for EA, and the far SE. Maybe London too. Cheeky little low.

JagrsMullet · 05/02/2012 11:55

5 inches here in NE London! DS1 and DD loving it, DS2 not impressed!

Ponders · 05/02/2012 11:56

thanks, kitten - I will go on the M62 then Smile

I remember in a recent bout of poor weather the road was open, but a lorry jackknifed; if that happened I'd be really stuck!

Ponders · 05/02/2012 11:57

oh thanks, panfried - hadn't seen yours!

that confirms it then Grin

watfordmummy · 05/02/2012 11:57

Leavesden, Abbots Langley just outisde Watford 10cm

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2012 12:00

The sky still looks very heavy, here in SE London. Not convinced that it's over.

DD's school has just text to say they might have a delayed start tomorrow.
