As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

Just checked the weather forecast on the met office website for here in York and its meant to snow tonight. Its going to be warm though over the next few days so hopefully it will finally melt away. Just hope we dont get any more. Does anyone know if we are due more snow next week? Im sure Ive heard its going to get warm and then cold again. Really could do with the snow we still have to go and no more to take its place.

QED · 11/02/2012 18:05

Forecasts I've seen for York look positively Hot for next week wuth temps into double figures by later in the week Shock. Hadn't seen the snow forecasts for tonight though.

notveryinventive · 11/02/2012 18:06

QED Ive since had a look round other sites and it was just the met office site that said snow. No-one else seems to think there is. Im hoping most of it will be gone by Tuesday as I need the car (not that I cant manage with the snow, it will just be easier with no snow)

notveryinventive · 11/02/2012 18:07

PS it will be tropical by the end of next week Grin

some snow around for yorkshire moving south along the east coast tonight as you've seen NIV.

After that it does look much warmer :) but some hints that after half term winter may return again....

south345 · 11/02/2012 19:01

We may get snow then we're not too far from the east coast. Still loads left from before which isn't melting very fast.

mankyscotslass · 11/02/2012 19:36

Dh drove up to Scotland this afternoon - he can't believe how much warmer it is - it's a noticeable difference.

Some nasty fog on the M6 in Cumbria and the M74 though.

notveryinventive · 11/02/2012 19:50

Please no more snow kitten Im moving from York to rural North Yorkshire in a couple of weeks.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 11/02/2012 20:10

-6.4C already.

GloriaSmud · 11/02/2012 21:16

The Guardian had a link to this photo of people on a frozen lake in Hamburg.

Manky ~ there's something I never thought I'd hear; that Scotland is warmer than England, especially at this time of year!

DH's just been out for a takeaway and can report that it's -4 at the moment. Having to de-ice a windscreen is a bit of a habit at the moment and usually it's the outside that needs the scraping but when DH went, he had to scrape a layer of ice from the inside of the windscreen!

ohyouBadBadkitten · 11/02/2012 22:30

that is an amazing picture!

down to -7.9C now.

PeneloPeePitstop · 11/02/2012 22:58

Car was registering -8 on the way back from Crawley just now.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 11/02/2012 23:05

still dropping as I go off to bed -8.4C silly temps!

headfairy · 12/02/2012 00:33

Just come in from a night out and the car thermometer was reading -10! Apparently here in Redhill we had the lowest temperature of the year, -18! I wonder if it'll get that low again tonight.

pigsinmud · 12/02/2012 07:46

No frozen pipes tonight - set the dishwasher to go off at 1 am and the washing machine at 3am- thought that would keep the water flowing. I have woken up and it's snowing. It is very light but looks pretty. Met office weather forecast is now light snow from 9-3.

whomovedmychocolate · 12/02/2012 07:51

It's minus 8 here. The snow has turned to ice and it's pretty hairy out there on the driveway. I have taken to pulling the kids on the sledge to the end of it and walking from then on (where the council have lovingly gritted). It's funny it looks like it's going to snow again but none forecast Confused

seeker · 12/02/2012 07:57

Just had a flurry of snow here in Sittingbourne- it's very cold!
