Weather looks potentially *really* interesting Tuesday.

Looks (at the moment) like we will have a really interesting and potentially pretty active cold front sweep the country on Tuesday. looks like it could be an 'ana cold front' where warm air ahead of the front is lifted above the cold front. This can create really good convection - pretty clouds - squally storms - and possibly tornadoes

Will update as we draw closer.

Just had some very fierce rain, but it's stopped again. There has been nothing consistent. Keeping us on our toes I suppose.

It wasn't too bad, here in Manchester, earlier.

Now it's dark, raining and very, very gusty.

The torrential rain is waiting until I go on the school run.

blackeyedsanta · 29/11/2011 13:49

not curently raining but dark clouds coming. calm spell before all hell breaks loose

OhYouBadBadkitten · 29/11/2011 13:49

North London reporter here. Very breezy, fast moving grey clouds. I'm wondering whether to walk the dogs soon and then batten down those hatches.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 29/11/2011 13:51

Big squally gusts here in Dorset, with light rain, but leaden skies.

The 3 builders who are rebuilding our chimney stacks, are all sat in their cars, waiting for it to pass Hmm, I have just taken out big mugs of tea.

OhYouBadBadkitten · 29/11/2011 13:52

This is the polruan weather station I mentioned. Temp dropped 4C as the cold front went through.

Oh Bugger , Sussex here , rubbish grey sky and getting windy , no doubt the tornado will wait until I leave for the school run .

OhYouBadBadkitten · 29/11/2011 13:53

OO - if they need to go out today than now is a good time!

Warringotn reporting again. It's got so dark I had to turn the light on. The rain is so heavy I can't see the other side of the road and the wind blew my front door open and the bins down the road.

mankyscotslass · 29/11/2011 13:54

Very dark now in Manchester.

Gusty winds and squally rain - but at least we got outside at playtime.

Looks like the last school run of that day may be interesting!

travellingwilbury · 29/11/2011 13:55

kreecher that sounds scary .

North Hampshire here, becoming very windy/gusty.
Expect the main event will wait for the school swim run.
I love these threads!

OhYouBadBadkitten · 29/11/2011 14:00

Warnings would be great MaryZ!
peppe - you are pretty spot on with your prediction. Twill probably be just on the way home or so!

Wind has really got up here (Leicester), it's gone dark and there's a bit of drizzly rain. A 6ft fence panel has come away from its post in our back garden and with the smaller fence between us and next door, one of the posts has rotted at the bottom, so that smaller fence is waving about as well! I'm waiting for the creaking sound that tells me the whole lot has gone over!

LostinWales ~ so sorry about your birds. Hope you and your family are OK.

mankyscotslass · 29/11/2011 14:04

Friends in North Ayrshire have posted some photos of the flooding in their area - it's pretty bad.

PostBellumBugsy · 29/11/2011 14:06

Going to put this in black & white, just to see if I am proven wrong or right.
I follow www.weatheraction.com and the man who runs it makes long term forecasts. FWIW, I think it is scientific - but I'm not a scientist!!!
Watch out for a very cold and quite snowy December - getting bad up north initially but the whole of UK for most of December, including Christmas itself.

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 29/11/2011 14:10

The wind seems to haev eased a bit in the last half an hour but now its getting very dark so don't think its over yet.

GentleOtter · 29/11/2011 14:10

Please avoid driving in Perthshire if possible, especially on the B class roads. There are huge areas of flooding (and hidden potholes) driving is nigh on impossible in some areas.

ps We had sn** on the high grounds three days ago.

Labradorlover · 29/11/2011 14:12

OYBBK temp here this morning was really mild. Must have been about 14/15c. Have just looked now and is 7c.

mankyscotslass · 29/11/2011 14:16

Very heavy rain here now - the sky is dark grey, the rain is battering the windows and the just emptied bins are travelling up the road on their own.

Wallace · 29/11/2011 14:17
