Hi poppyrock... your breakfast sandwich sounds delicious!

PTDG ooh I didn't know that about itsu and Tesco's, I'll have a look. I hope you got my message about the allplants referral code - let me know if it works ok. I got my order today but I haven't tried any of the meals yet. Just waiting for the family to have pizza or something (we are 2 omnis, 1 veggie and 2 vegans in our house, although the omnis don't eat meat at home at my request) and I will crack out one of my posh ready meals.

The cakes at the fancy tea were mini chocolate cake, mini carrot cake, a mini victoria sponge, and there was a little glass of chopped up fruit and what looked like chia seeds. I side eyed that one a bit. They were all nice cakes, nothing stupendous, but it's not so common to have a cake selection and not just one vegan cake on offer, so it felt like a real treat. The scones were nice fat fruited ones, with sweetened coconut cream and a pot of jam. I couldn't finish two scones but other than that I made quite a feast of it.

B: peach, grapes, blueberries, nuts, seeds, alpro yogurt
L: salad with avocado and a slice of seed loaf
D: nut roast from a packet mix - it wasn't very nice, in fact DS1 said it tasted of soap and fruit Grin. Served with steamed cabbage, carrots, sprouts, sweetcorn and gravy.
S: a tangerine, plate of raw veg, sherbet lemons, and an apple with peanut butter on.
Just realised that's probably too many nuts and seeds for one day! I'll try to have a legumes and pulses day tomorrow instead.

cricketmum84 · 18/08/2020 23:00

Today was celery and cucumber sticks dipped in low fat hummous that I added smoked paprika and chilli to.

Dinner was a one pot courgette, pea and spinach pasta with lemon and mint from the dirty vegan cookbook. DD (11)was not impressed although I liked it.

Looking forward to tomorrow as me and DD have been invited to a new Thai cafe nearby to taste test their new vegan menu! They also do evening delivery so it will be a good opportunity for her to try lots of different things and work out what she likes!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 19/08/2020 03:33

Sounds fun @cricketmum84

S: cashew yoghurt and raspberries
L: baby kale, tofu, tomato and roast beetroot salad and some figs
S: jicama and pepper sticks and bitchin’ sauce
D: mushroom risotto, a beer and some vanilla cashew yoghurt

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 20/08/2020 12:36

@cricketmum84 - how was the Thai vegan menu tasting?

@BeneathTheMilkyTwilight thank you for the code, my order will be here tomorrow. I also don't always eat what the others in the house are eating and although I batch cook and freeze loads, sometimes it's nice to have someone else do the cooking 😂

We are visiting Brighton for a couple of nights, arrived yesterday. Yesterday's food was

B: fruit muesli eaten with raspberries, chopped peach, seeds and rice milk
S: trek salted caramel flapjack and paprika quinoa chips
D: lovely veggie/vegan restaurant where we had shared nibbles to start, which were olives, crushed pea and mint dip with toasted flatbreads and crudités, the most delicious crispy tofu and chilli dip. For my main I had beer battered banana blossom fish, with posh chips, tartare sauce and minted peas. Then dessert of some very rich chocolate truffles and coffee (the coffee was the only thing that wasn't wonderful about the whole meal)

Ah it was lovely thanks @PartTimeDomesticGoddess. It's the first time me and DD have been out out since March so was lovely to have a little treat just the two of us.

She's usually quite fussy but she tried everything including mushrooms(!!), tofu and absolutely loved these little Thai style falafel burgers when she normally pulls a face when I mention chickpeas!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 20/08/2020 13:39

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess Brighton does the best vegan food! Did you go to Terra Terra?

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 20/08/2020 14:59

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip that's where we have dinner booked for tonight Grin

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 20/08/2020 22:30

PTDG ooh have fun, I lived in Brighton briefly but haven't been back for years.

B: peach, strawberries, blueberries, nuts, seeds, alpro yogurt
L: tofu, seed loaf, avo, beetroot, sun dried tomatoes, salad leaves
D: spinach and lentil curry, steamed carrots, brussels, cabbage, broccoli
S: have been trying to increase my protein intake so I had a glass of soya milk with protein powder in, some peanut butter, and cocoa powder to take away the taste of the protein powder! I don't like the artificial tasting protein drinks so I guess this is my own version.
Also, plate of raw veg, a tangerine, and some ritter sport

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 21/08/2020 06:44

Hmmmmm
L: lentil, rocket, kimchi, avocado and cucumber salad:
D: 4 truffle fries, a punnet of blueberries and 3 glasses of wine 😆

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 21/08/2020 11:13

Yesterday was
B; sourdough toast spread with beetroot hummus and topped with avocado, 3 roasted tomatoes, a flat mushroom, 2 falafel, spinach and seeds. I thought it was was slightly odd with the falafel on the toast, but then saw it on several other menus so maybe its standard here in Brighton 😂
S: Coffee ice cream in a cone (I love Brighton!!)
L: greggs sausage roll and packet of tesco frazzle crisps (disappointing given the independent cafes etc in Brighton, but sometimes you have to go with the majority and they'd let me choose the dinner restaurant both nights!)
Dinner at Terre a Terre was amazing. Shared starters of olives, wasabi crusted cashews and crispy lavash and an aubergine and herb dip (not eaten lavash before, fried flatbreads but so thin that they were more like poppadoms). Followed by Korean fried cauliflower. Yum yum yum.

@BeneathTheMilkyTwilight - which protein powders have you tried? I have one to try but can't remember which one it is (pre-vegan I used them sometimes for convenience).

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip - what are truffle fries? And are you miles away from the forest fires?

OP posts:
IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 21/08/2020 16:24

Just chips j think doused in truffle oil, they were a bit shit to be honest

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 21/08/2020 17:35

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip - I'm sure I would have minded less that they were a bit shit after a couple of glasses of wine Grin

OP posts:
IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 21/08/2020 21:43

I only had them because otherwise all I would have had for dinner was wine 😂

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 21/08/2020 23:41

PTDG re the falafel on toast, Ds2 is obsessed with falafel sandwich, maybe it's a youngster's thing? (my excuse when I don't get something)
Food sounds generally amazing, tbh even the frazzles Grin

I use Pulsin protein powder; it's not an unpleasant taste as such but it is quite pulse-like (I think it's made from split peas?) and noticeable unless you mask it with fruit or similar. It goes nicely in soups although the kids aren't keen.

cricketmum84 · 22/08/2020 07:16

Pulled jackfruit and salad last night. DD(11) is really into jackfruit at the moment.

Today is:

Garlic mushrooms and spinach for lunch

Oumph smoky kebab on homemade flatbread for dinner

Also feeling like I need a trip to Brighton!! Food sounds amazing!

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 22/08/2020 15:57

Brighton is absolutely worth a trip, just for the food Grin And it being a thing for young ones works for me as an explanation 😂

Yesterday was
Brighton breakfast before heading home. This time I had a small Bircher muesli with coconut milk, seeds and fruit compote. Followed by a millionaire slice Grin
L: fried toastie made with a large white bap and filled with spinach, sun dried tomatoes and cream cheese. 2 dates
D: Dan dan noodles made from a Spicery kit using tofu, yellow pepper, pak choi and spinach. With tenderstem
S: 2/3 of a big bag of sweet and salty popcorn

OP posts:
BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 22/08/2020 21:22

Evening all. cricketmum I like the idea of jackfruit, but it always seems to be cooked with smoky or bbq flavours, which I don't like. How do you do yours?

B: spinach and pineapple smoothie
L: shroomdogs and a big grilled mushrolm
D: courgetti pasta with sun dried tomato sauce, chickpeas and quorn.
S: the usual, chocolate and raw veg. Maybe one cancels out the other?

cricketmum84 · 22/08/2020 22:45

@BeneathTheMilkyTwilight last night it was in a bbq sauce. But actually it's a southern Indian fruit that was originally used in curries!!

It goes lovely in a madras, tin of drained jackfruit, tin of chopped tomatoes, a handful of fresh tomatoes, garlic, chilli, ginger and a dry madras/tikka/korma spice mix depending on how spicy you want it :)

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 23/08/2020 11:03

Yesterday ended with too much brandy, so have a slightly sore head this morning Hmm Food was

B: 2 dates, toasted white bap with peanut butter
L: large salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, artichoke hearts and violife feta cubes. Slice of carrot cake
S: sweet and salty popcorn
D: curry night with friends. I made a new potato and aubergine curry and a stack of chapatis, friend 1 brought a Dahl and friend 2 brought rice, saag aloo and a chickpea curry. Yum. For pudding I made Meera Sodha's cereal milk ice cream bars (which were ok but not fantastic). Then I had another slice of carrot cake Grin Will make the carrot cake again (happy pear recipe with different frosting)

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 23/08/2020 12:16

Sausages and mustard mash today mmmm. I'm feeling in need of some comfort food! Will add baby corn, squeaky green beans and spinach.

Quite fancy some cheese on toast - I've got some green vie cheddar slices so will see how they melt!

BrokenBrit · 23/08/2020 12:34

Yesterday
B: porridge and berries
L: LM burger with melted violife, fries and beans
D: lentil dhal with chapatti and mango chutney
Snack: pulsin fava protein shake
Stewed apples and cinnamon.

Today
B - toast
L - big salad with chickpeas and hummus
D - (will be) mushroom and lentil goulash with pasta and tender stem broccoli.
Snacks - we are baking jammy biscuits today..Grin

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 23/08/2020 15:50

@BeneathTheMilkyTwilight and @cricketmum84 yes jackfruit curry is the best!!

Yesterday was weird, very picky in the evening because I seemed to think wine for dinner was another good idea 🙄
L: fake caprese salad with side bowl of olives, tofu, cucumber, broccoli
S: watermelon and mango
D: picked on random crap in front of a film: shishito peppers, quesadilla, pistachios, cucumber and cream cheese

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 23/08/2020 21:51

I seem to have eaten my way through the sore head today Hmm

B: cornflakes with oat milk
L: cauliflower and chermoula soup, brown baguette with naturli
D: Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, butternut, green beans, carrots, tenderstem, corn on the cob and gravy. Vegan magnum
S: tomatoes, strawberries, lentil chips, carrot cake, handful of salted cashews

OP posts:
Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/08/2020 22:50

Ooh i havent been on here for ages!

B: Overnight oats with dates, seeds & jam
L: Minestrone soup with a load of veg that was on its last legs lashed in to use up. Was bloody lovely.
D: A bowl of barley done in my rice cooker, with just vitealite and salt.

My first few weeks of being pregnant and inhaling everything in sight have turned into a slight loss of appetite and im just not fancying much right now!

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 23/08/2020 23:01

Evening everyone

B: fruit, seeds, nuts, alpro yogurt
L: baked potato, hummus, avocado, coleslaw
D: puy lentils, spinach and sun dried tomatoes, a huge mushroom, and a bunch of asparagus. Bit of a weird but nice meal to use up random bits in the fridge.
S: banana, protein smoothie with soya milk and cocoa powder, chocolate, raw veg, hula hoops
