Everyone's food sounds lovely and interesting
B overnight oats
L home made sweetcorn chowder with Seeded cracker
D sausage casserole
S Handful cashews, small dark choc

I bought chia seeds to have for breakfast, sadly the chia pudding was vile. What else can I use the seeds for as they are a good protein source I read x

goteam · 21/01/2021 16:00

Thanks @Kobanidaughters this is the recipe. I make it a lot as it's so tasty but healthy too. I never add the pea shoots though but do add whatever else I have around such beetroot or tomatoes

Kobanidaughters · 21/01/2021 16:12

Thanks @goteam DH smoked tofu for the first time the other night and it was delicious so I’ll throw this recipe his way!

@Coconut80 I’m not a fan of chia pudding either, I put them in smoothies, overnight oats/porridge or on salads

ZaraTheWonderDog · 21/01/2021 20:35

B: delicious trashy fake sausage breakfast muffin
L: parsnip soup
D: the dal from the Green Roasting Tin book, with roasted shallots, pomegranate and cashews. Amazing! It reminded me a bit of dal makhani. We had it with parathas and basmati, and some of my next door neighbour's home made pickle.

@Coconut80 you can grind them and make 'chia eggs' for baking, like flax seeds? I have never tried chia pudding but it always looks profoundly unappealing to me.

Kintsugi16 · 21/01/2021 21:29

No breakfast
L: leftover sweet potato tagine, cous cous and salad.
D: Pizza and Salad

Kintsugi16 · 21/01/2021 21:40

ilovemydogandmrobama2
That’s good x

Breathmiller · 21/01/2021 22:23

B. Dates, cashews and coffee
L. Peanut butter and blackcherry jam on toast.
D. H/M Lentil Dhal and chickpea curry and rice.

Kobanidaughters · 22/01/2021 05:41

L: pinto bean, avocado, red pepper and chipotle In adobo quesadilla
D: squash, potato and cauliflower curry, Dahl and cardamom rice. An orange

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 22/01/2021 05:53

@goteam love the look of that tofu recipe, thanks for the link
@ZaraTheWonderDog that dal is on my list
@Coconut80 whenever I list seeds with my breakfast it's about a tablespoon of chia seeds and a tablespoon of a 3 seed mix I buy from asda. I only add them as I'm about to eat though, as I don't like the gelatinous, frogspawn type thing that they do if you leave them in a liquid. I think you could sprinkle a tablespoon of them onto loads of things and not really notice if you did it just before you ate. My grandad used to do that with bran (literally onto everything he ate!)

B; date/coffee/banana/pb/soya milk smoothie
L: dal and naan bread
D: no bull pasty with carrots, peas, broccoli, sprouts and gravy
S: Apple, 2 dark choc orange rice cakes, 3 strawberry creams

Coconut80 · 22/01/2021 12:46

Thankyou for the chia seeds advice I'll use them as I bought 1kg.
On week 3 of the happy pear vegan cooking course it is good but if you buy their vegan cookbook it is all in there, even the text is the same so I feel a bit ripped off having paid £60 for the course when it is all in the book I already have. Finding alot of the recipes ver nut and nut butter coconut milk heavy, not ideal for me as trying to lose weight. Wouldn't recommend the course xx

goteam · 22/01/2021 14:16

B: orange juice, toast, naturli and marmite. Coffee and 2 chocolate digestive a bit later (working and homeschooling) satsuma
L: toasted seeded bagel with mixed bean pate with salad of tomatoes, beetroot and olives, small packet of crisps
D will be veganised fish and chips with peas (while I do fish fingers and chips for everyone else...a school tradition we are trying to keep going at home.) The Linda McCartney fish style goujons are nice served with homemade tartare sauce.
Later: 4 booja booja truffles and glass.of white wine. Looking forward to this!

ZaraTheWonderDog · 22/01/2021 15:40

@goteam or anyone really - have you tried doing banana blossom 'fish' yet? I have three tins of banana blossom in the cupboard now but have never got round to using it. Think it might be nice in curries too.

ZaraTheWonderDog · 22/01/2021 15:40

(I love how you have counted out your Booja Booja truffles already! that are my very favourite chocolate now)

goteam · 22/01/2021 16:10

@ZaraTheWonderDog I only have 4 left that's how I know! Boo hoo! Must buy more....

I haven't made the banana blossom fish but have eaten it from a chippy and it's delicious. Kind of flaky like fish I guess. I am tempted to buy some and try to make my own batter so let us know how you get on.

Breathmiller · 22/01/2021 16:20

zara yes, my dh made banana blossom 'fish ' . It was really lovely.

Kobanidaughters · 22/01/2021 16:22

Me too - not made it it but tried it and loved it. I’ve done this tofish recipe a few times and it’s genuinely amazing but def marinate from the day before because I think the marinade makes all the difference

itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/tofish-and-chips-vegan-fish-and-chips/

Poor DS had a new set of braces put on this week so he can’t have his usual pizza tonight (and I’d found a frozen supermarket vegan pizza he really liked) so I think it’s going to be mash and beans for the poor mite while the rest of us tuck in

ZaraTheWonderDog · 22/01/2021 19:16

you guys are inspiring me! I have seen that tofu recipe too, it looks intriguing. I can see that the marinade would be crucial, even with the nori.

Today:
B: hummus and tomato sandwich
L: grab bag of ready salted crisps, half a marzipan Ritter sport. Health!
D: burger, chips (home made by DH), corn on cob, onion rings

Drinks: Malbec!

ZaraTheWonderDog · 22/01/2021 19:16

oh, I forgot, I had a banana as well

Kintsugi16 · 23/01/2021 04:02

I love reading what everyone is eating - inspiring!

B: overnight oats with sultanas, flaked almonds, chia and a few fresh raspberries.
L: quickly grabbed some fruit and whizzed up a protein shake
D: spaghetti bolognaisse

Kobanidaughters · 23/01/2021 05:19

L: white bean, rosemary and roasted garlic soup, blueberries
D: cauliflower katsu curry with random veggie and sushi rice Japanese stir fry
S: marinated tofu slices, trail mix, peanut butter stuffed pretzels

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 23/01/2021 12:54

Hopefully it's obvious that I love reading what everyone else is eating, that's why I started the thread

Time for a new thread too, any takers for starting one?

@Coconut80 thanks for the happy pear feedback, that is disappointing

L: butternut mulligatawny
